QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) In a move widely praised by ESPN, MLB has announced that each team will be renamed either Yankees or Red Sox ending confusion by ESPN analysts and 90% of baseball fans. WTF? I am starting to hate all the Boston / NY love. I'm even going to boycott tonight's name. I watched it because it was baseball that counted and that got me through, but yeah, ESPN is going over the top with it even more this year. One of my favorite parts was John Miller acting shocked that CC wasn't great tonight, I guess it's against ESPN rules to point out that CC isn't very good in April over his career, but again, nobody is allowed to badmouth a NYY!!!!!!!!

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) When did this happen? it was very early in his first season with the Tigers, basically B & B were at a remote, a Tigers game was on ESPN, B & B made a crack about how they didn't know that knee surgery would cause your forearms to shrink and they had KW on either that show or quickly after it.

OK Mods, I am going to dance around this as much as I can and if one of you think it's against the rules please delete immediately... I think, looking back, especially at his upper body in his first year with the Tigers, Maggs might have been getting some help that many of us rip other players for using

if the pitching stays healthy this team is going to be very tough. I am so ready to roll, since other than about 24 and 25 the roster was set by January this has been a long spring... really looking forward to this year and I know Trader Kenny will be active if he feels the O is lacking.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) True, and I'm not gonna say I'm worried but Flowers was pretty overhyped in this board ever since he got here from Braves. maybe, but I'm sure if they still consider him a top prospect they want him to get regular ABs, even if it's only for a week or so, with AJ and the off days I doubt the back-up catcher is going to sniff the field for 1-2 weeks -

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) By which point it will be an extremely outdated metric. well for ESPN to use it you have to get extra points for being on the Red Sox or Yankees -

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) Poor, Jay. He thinks he got screwed. http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/showbiz/2...P1&iref=NS1 I know, I just read the text on it, couldn't stomach to watch the video... at this point Leno needs to drop it. He'll have his strong numbers his demographics, he'll never be strong in the younger demographics that Conan does well in and he'll never be considered a legendary host like Carson... just save face and ride off into the sunset for the next few years

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) 6,000,000 Americans have been "off" for over 6 months. ha, yeah, unfortunately I'm extremely underemployed right now, so I have today off, annoyed that golf courses are packed today though...

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) Even while giving us love, they're pretty apologetic about it. I really can't tolerate the bias on ESPN anymore so I just don't watch. Ever. hahaha, thanks for saving me the anger of actually watching it and seeing more bias even when giving the White Sox props! On paper national outlets will have to give the White Sox props, it would be a glaring omission if they didn't.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Do you mean Aaron Boone? lol, I do! Guess I need to watch more ESPN to be reminded!

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Since 1/1/2009 there is no reason to watch ESPN for baseball. The products are not even comparable. The talent on the MLBN is light years ahead of ESPN. Is Fernando Vina still hanging in there? I'm not sure if he's there or not anymore, but Brett Boone is on there now, and in case you forgot, or if you ever forget, he hit a game 7 home run in the '03 ALCS against the Red Sox when with the NYY, they mention it basically every time they introduce him

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) I would only to make an interesting fight. There is no one at 155 that is within a light year of touching BJ right now. BJ needs to go to 170 just so his talent isnt wasted right now. I wouldnt give him GSP but there are others that would make for some interesting matchups like Fitch or Alves. But if Penn did go to 170 and Florian or Maynard won the 155 belt, would anyone even accept them as a champ? I really dont think I would. yeah, that's the Catch-22 the UFC is in with BJ, GSP and Anderson if he beats Maia and Belfort. HW and 205 have a lot of interesting match-up potential for the belt and contenders. I can't believe Strikeforce is having the Rogers/Overeem match in May for the belt, first, Overeem hasn't defended it in about three years and then add that Rogers is coming off a loss!!! I don't care if it's against Fedor, someone coming off a loss should not be fighting for a promotions championship, they should have made Overeem/Bigfoot IMO.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) If you're the UFC, what do you throw to KenFlo next? Do you give him Maynard & potentially kill of a contender for BJ? Or do you give him a rematch against Diego. But IIRC, Diego was sent back to 170 after the beatdown he got. There are also murmurs of Nelson/JDS. Either way it was an entertaining night of fights. it's an issue that I think the UFC is going to force after the July card and they'll have to do it in 2 and possibly 3 if Anderson beats Maia and then Belfort, basically Anderson, BJ and GSP have no credible contenders anymore. There's always the possibility one of them have an off night or the punchers chance, but there's nobody in the UFC, and few in the world, who would give them legit fights at their weight... personally I would like the UFC to ask them to take a step up and go down a contenders path, with one or two fights against contenders and then a championship fight... Honestly, there's not a LW in the world I would give a legit shot against BJ right now, I do like Aoki, but I don't see where he would have an advantage against BJ, he has pulled off some slick subs in Japan, but how is he getting BJ down and then BJ is a BJJ black belt so that neutralizes Aoki's strength. GSP at 170, basically same thing, I think the biggest threat to GSP at this point would be a K-1 level striker who focused on TD defense for 6 months, but even then GSP is so good. 205 and HW have plenty of intriguing match-ups for the title and contenders, no matter who wins the next title fights.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Not to mention the rumor that they wanna do Liddell/Couture IV at UFC 116 now. Between all that & the new format that they're doing, hopefully it'll be entertaining. there's a ton of rumors about potential fights right now, from the one you mentioned to Liddell/Franklin and also Toney/Randy, it will be interesting to see how it shakes out... entertaining night of fights tonight, and grizzly broken nose on TUF

QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Meh. I'm giving it one more week before I'm done watching it. It's a decent show, but I think the lack of any central storyline really hurts it. I'm just not interested in watching another show that goes week to week with completely different plots and nothing that really links together. I've watched up to the second episode, and as I posted earlier, I think it depends on the show. I far and away preferred the stand alone X-Files over the heavy central storyline ones, albeit the sci-fi genre probably lends a little more to that... I would like to see a balance in Justified, I hate shows like that that get bogged down in central story-lines because IMO they tend to drag on and move way to slowly, I think with his ex, Ava and them deciding not to kill Goggins character they can do a nice mix of central storyline and good stand alone stories

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) Marmol (who has filthy stuff but walks a guy an inning) is their best guy. The rest are Marshall, Samardzjia, Grabow, Caridad, Berg and eventually Gorzellany when Lilly returns. That is ugly. Rotation of Zambrano, Dempster, Wells, Silva and Gorzellany/Lilly. Not much prettier. if memory serves me correctly, their opening month or so of their schedule is a complete joke, so get ready for some of these guys to look OK and have Cubbie fever runnin' rampant!! -
ESPN is just basically saying F you to all non east coast teams... granted I haven't checked every game they've shown, but all the ones I've seen have featured the Mets, NYY or Boston Red Sox and while flipping through the channels I have seen multiple times on BBTN that they have had 2 rotating members of ESPN Radio in NY on the set... Well, guess like my MLBN viewership over ESPN will be 100% this year instead of 95%... it's just ridiculous...

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) Florian v. Gomi tonight, new TUF season starts as well. Really looking forward to the Florian/Gomi match and oddly intrigued by the Big Country/Skyscraper match, just because of their vastly different body types... TUF should be interesting this year because there's a ton of rumors about something happening to Tito and Franklin coming in to replace him, which Dana and Chuck are denying

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) It is the 100th anniversary of the president throwing out the first pitch. Why do it for the Nationals though. I understand he resides in Washington D.C. where did the tradition start? I want to say Cincy, but that seems wrong.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 08:41 AM) So HBK's really going through with it, eh? Anyone have any video of his speech. I stopped watching wrestling awhile ago, but would love to see it. Was pretty much my idol growing up. we will see! I will give most wrestlers the benefit of the doubt, I think when they retire their mind and bodies are honestly ready and willing to retire, but after some time home, and in many cases, a shrinking bank account, they decide to come back. I have heard that HBK has been great with his money, especially in his second half of the career, so that might not be a factor. He really was a great performer, both in promos and in the ring. The time he super kicked Marty through the window is classic and his ladder match with Razor Ramon really introduced a new style of wrestling to the WWF at the time. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) You mean like 10 years ago, right? That show has been awful for quite a while now, they just stopped trying. yeah, but it's one of those things that still amazes me time to time... especially when Fox is showing the reruns from the golden era and then to watch last night to see how awful it is.

Matt, I am sorry to hear about what happened to you and your family, sounds like you have an awesome support network that is helping you through this hard time. Best of luck going forward! It's also good to hear that the White Sox gave you somethings and took the time to help a fan. I know that during a hard time sometimes little things are the nicest and most meaningful things.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) what do like about the Aragon? The size? It cannot be the quality of the sound in there. Believe it or not, it actually sounds better than it use to! It use to be horrible about 15 years ago, Sugar and Nirvana sounded good there and it was a shock! They've actually taken some steps to make it somewhat better
