QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Now, they only need some CBs, a #1 WR and some OL help. In theory in a cover 2 system having a good pass rush makes your CBs better and in Martz' O, the TE from SD they signed is akin to upgrading your line... I stress the "in theory" party, we will see how it plays out. As long as they're front loading the Peppers deal in the uncapped year I like this signing, the team flat out needed more talent and with Taylor and Peppers they have added talent.

http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/article/co...wrestling-97531 you're moving to Monday nights, it's a no brainer you sign Mr. Monday Night!! -
Web Soup is a great show, it consistently has me laughing out loud. The clips are funny and I think Chris Hardwick does a great job hosting.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) Milton Bradley finds the true reason he played badly last year. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=4965307 It boggles my mind the pass Hendry gets in this town. He has arguably the worst non pitcher contract in the MLB stumbling around in LF for another 5 years (which, if you believe reports, the Cubs completely bid against themselves, I believe the only other report of a team having any interest was the Phills kicked the tires on him), he has had a consistent top 5 payroll and the team has made a grand total of 1 serious run during the playoffs, and you can argue that was in large part due to taking advantage of a Pitt fire sale, and he completely jumped the gun and misread the Bradley market last off-season and was made to look like a fool when Abreu, Dunn and even Ibanez inked their deals later, not to mention other bad moves.

http://deadspin.com/5485780/joe-mauers-ima...ot-of-is-to-dot Sounds like they may not be as close as first reported. (This is the deadspin link, but there's a link to the newspaper they're basing their article off of.)

I remember when the broadcasts from TEP use to pick up the coffee grinder and Farmio would always comment on it... then there's the legendary Hawk "beaver shot" comment in a ST game when Wimpy was still around

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) Wow, if Strikeforce counters the WEC PPV they might do some serious damage there. Which sucks, because while that Strikeforce show is a very good card, Aldo-Faber is one of the biggest fights in all of MMA right now (in terms of relevance, not necessarily fan interest) and I really want to see that show do well. Hopefully the WEC can at least go beyond the 100K buys that Affliction was doing with Fedor. Maybe the WEC should have planned their PPV outside of California to get the Sacramento fans to buy the show. Speaking of the WEC, they're going to Calgary this summer. I don't know anything about Calgary other than the legendary Hart Family connection, but I assume that area is overrun with MMA fans just like the rest of Canada appears to be. it's kind of up to Zuffa at this point, Strikeforce's original, and still, plan is to run on the 17th, the reason they would go to the 24th is if the UFC runs a UFN against it on the 17th, so basically it would be Zuffa's own decision. Either way, I just don't see the WEC PPV doing anything. I am a HUGE MMA fan and I just flat out refuse to pay for it and I am really a big fan of Aldo and Faber. It's just, enough is enough when it comes to money. Hopefully a bar will be showing it or one of my friends will get it, but we're already at two houses for the Carwin/Mir card and the BJ/Edgar card. EDIT/UPDATE: The April 17th card for the UFC is confirmed with Swick/Serra as a co-main event and reports that Sexyama/Wand will NOT be on the card. LOL UPDATE ON THE EDIT/UPDATE: OK, Serra has an arm injury and that match is not happening, Meltzer makes it seem like the UFC might be pulling back a little on that event, but trying to get it together.

QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) I was driving a Cougar and my company forced me into a four door. Back in the late 80s the New Yorker / Dynasty had a similar body styling to the Cougar. Did yours talk? My parents had one and it would talk if you left the trunk or door "ajar"

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) it's a local production in Chicago, probably just trying to get a show off the ground and see if they can get it sold. Everyone's looking for that next Jersey Shore. exactly, this happens a lot with different jobs, etc. for reality shows. The pilot isn't really expensive to shoot, and if the company can get some interest great, if not, they probably have other pans in the fire.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) I wonder if the UFC just announced Toney today to counter this? Pretty big move by Strikeforce. I enjoy Aoki, but he is a complete unknown to the casual fan, and this had been all but set for about a week. Along the "counter Strikeforce" line, apparently UFC is considering putting a UFN on the 17th against the CBS show with early rumor of Wand vs. Sexyama as the main event. However, CBS has given Strikeforce the option of moving the show to the 24th if UFC counters, and that's the night of the WEC PPV. I don't expect the WEC PPV do to anything, but it's only hope of doing anything is with more hardcore fans, and that CBS card is free and strong draw for big fans of MMA

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) I had a Durango and it was pretty nice... kind of bad gas milage but other than that very dependable. I actually like the Nitro which is the same as the new Liberty. agreed, the Durango is a wonderful car, but the gas mileage made us get rid of it

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) That is the problem with being so close to the salary cap. You pretty much had to be able to get two deals done simultaneously, otherwise it wasn't worth it. It looks like it couldn't be done. what do you guys think the best solution is right now... I don't know, without knowing the personality of Huet, I would say the best option right now is for Q and Bowman to sit him down and basically say "We signed you to big money, we trust you, you are going to start from here on out." I know Anti has played better overall, but I just want them to give Huet one more crack

5-Oz of pain is reporting HW boxer James Toney has inked with the UFC... I have no idea how reliable that site is though UPDATE: This is official, Dana has confirmed... no confirmation on who he's training with (rumor is Juan Ibarro) or when or who he'll fight

QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) I have a feeling you won't be proud. This is an attempt at making a characature out of south siders. Whoever they pick will likely be an embarrasment. yes, I imagine production companys all over the country are going to make pilots like this using the local douche-bag community of their region. All just trying to capitalize on the Jersey Shore

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Yeah, that's a great clip. yeah, usually we just get the 5 seconds "good riddance" part, but this was the whole clip.

hahaha, OK, i'm in a slightly better mood, B & B just played the long clip of Pat Foley ripping on Karpotsov when they traded him to the Islanders.

ick, TSN is reporting the Blackhawks have closed up shop with no moves. I am a long time Hawks fan, not a CubsHawks fan, but a fan who's been with them through the good and horrible of my life (I'm 31). Even through the bad times about 5-10 times a year my dad and I were one of the what, maybe 7-9k who were actually showing up for games. I just don't see either of these two goaltenders leading a serious playoff push... I am extremely discouraged right now and only hope I am proven wrong

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) I am thinking its smoke and mirrors....they can't think this tandem will be good enough. I'm hoping he is just saying it so in case they strikeout at the deadline he's on the public record supporting the 2 keepers. However, it would be a buzzkill if the Blackhawks would have to make their playoff run with these to keepers, I would have a hard time picking them over San Jose in the west if that happens.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) Well, now apparently Overeem/Rogers will be for the heavyweight title... eh, I don't mind the match, but I liked it as a non-title considering Rogers was coming off the loss.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) I shutter at the thought. No offense, Rongey. Thursday's game will also be shown on MLB Network at 10 pm obviously on tape delay and Friday's game will be broadcast live on whitesox.com. So we're only 23 hours away from seeing White Sox baseball. I believe I saw in the paper yesterday that the Saturday game in on WGN, but it might be a Cubs broadcast

QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) The radio station that has him as a baseball expert is one talking about it. if you mean the Score, B & B are doing it theoretically, it's more of a discussion about their feelings about Beckham's upside. Numerous times Boers has said something along the lines as "the White Sox aren't in it as much as is out there."

I've been listening to the Score on and off since about 1 and I haven't heard one mention of this

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) I'm also with you on Overeem/Rogers not making sense for Showtime, but that's I guess what happens when you give al your power to networks and so forth. I think everyone knew this was going to happen with Strikeforce. Too many hands in the cookie jar. It's been a while since I've heard Strikeforce talk about PPVs and I have no idea how they're going to be able to do a PPV when CBS and Showtime are calling the shots with regards to their top fighters. This is just a gut feeling of mine, but I think the second Strikeforce announces a PPV, the UFC agree to a network deal and put it head-to-head with any attempted Strikeforce PPV. A reason I think there's been little talk of a PPV is how do you promote it effectively? They would need to stack a card for a PPV, so it couldn't be too close to a CBS card because it would risk too many of their big names, and the Showtime cards flat out don't get enough ratings, especially with casual fans. With Spike and reruns on MTV2 the UFC have a great outlet for their hype shows and they're branded and run on a consistent basis where people look for them, not to mention when TUF is running and they can run commercials on that, Unleashed and replays of Ultimate Knockouts.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) I don't really care where Fedor fights, I just want him to hurry up and finish out his commitment to M-1 so he can go to the UFC. Does anyone know exactly what kind of stake Fedor has in M-1? Has that ever been reported anywhere? Meltzer maybe? That's the boat I'm in, I just want Fedor to fight on a consistent basis with out the drama, I would prefer the UFC, but honestly would take Strikeforce or Japan. Also, Barnett officially signed with DREAM, so I wouldn't be shocked if the Strikeforce/Fedor thing drags on we see Fedor/Barnett in DREAM. (His Strikeforce contract is North American exclusive only) I've never heard how much he owns of M-1, but from my understanding the per se ownership isn't crippling him right now, it's the 50% promotional contract he has fights left he signed with M-1 that is the hold up. From my understanding he and Vlad aren't majority enough owners to break that contract without fear of a breach lawsuit. Basically, I would guess if he and Vlad where the majority owners they could break it and buy off the other owners. Also, I tweeted Josh Gross from si.com about the Overeem/Rogers fight, he basically said nothing official, but it's very likely and it will happen on Showtime, not CBS.

Boers and Bernstein are doing a great segment ripping Pinella and the Cubs for pretending that this is some young hungry team who has no expectations. Also, I love how every Cubs prospect just gets a pass when the way that system has hyped prospects and then fizzled, every one should be looked at with a critical eye.
