  1. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) Homerun by Castro. as much as AJ plays, I actually don't mind Castro, he can play sparsely but still play well behind the plate, and even though he's not the greatest offensive player, he does give a little power threat
  2. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) I think KW would have passed on Pierre and Kotsay and went after Thome and Damon. unless he has heard from other GMs that bats he prefer over those two will be available once the season starts
  3. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Oz wants the NL style team and KW wants the softball team.....I guess we will see who was right. which is why I think if the offense starts off slow KW will pull the trigger on a trade to get a bat in
  4. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) How can they legally do that? it sounded like it was going to be MLB involved and maybe they didn't flat out say he couldn't do it, but highly suggested against it It was a little spotty for me, they talked about it and right when they started I got a work call and was distracted, so maybe someone who was listening could clear it up a little
  5. FWIW, Boers is saying, and he seemingly has good Sox sources, that KW thinks some of the moves the Sox made in the offseason to please Ozzie were "wrong".
  6. Sox are denying Ozzie's wish to launch his own website
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) If he is healthy once again.. the D-Backs will have an incredible year. Haren-Webb-Jackson will win you alot of games and I love Ian Kennedy going to the NL as their #4. yeah, and it's not like anyone in that division is blowing anyone out of the water.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) Ya it is not like he isn't an MVP Caliber player when healthy. Has Retherford been around all spring I forgot all about him. to that end, if Andruw Jones hits well throughout the spring I hope we see a lot of him in the OF and Q at DH
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) Jose Reyes and Brandon Webb are looking doubtful for opening day. Brandon Webb will be an interesting story to watch this year. MLBN was talking about him and basically before the injury he didn't do a bunch of stuff to protect his arm, i.e. ice his arm/shoulder, etc... and they said he's trying to adjust to the schedule of coming back
  10. I'm going to give "Justified" on FX a chance, the commercials have done enough to draw me in.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Really, how much can TNA realistically expect out of the DVR numbers? .1 or .2? also, if that stays a trend, their advertisers aren't going to be thrilled that people are DVR'ing it and skipping the commercials.
  12. Meltzer has the ratings... 3.4 for Raw and a 1.0 for TNA... they did a 1.1 on their previous Thursday show
  13. To me this is a major injury. I agree the Twins have an offensive edge on the Sox, but the White Sox have a pitching edge on the Twins that this just widens. As MaggsMaggs pointed out, this just slots their bullpen one pitcher back.
  14. 1. "Life and How To Live It" - R.E.M. 2. "Having a Blast" - Green Day 3. "Kill to Breathe" - Unwritten Law 4. "Stuck Inside a Cloud" - George Harrison 5. "Out in the Street (Live)" - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 6. "Punk Rock Song" - Bad Religion 7. "Little Ole Wine Drink Me" - Dean Martin 8. "Somebody Have Mercy" - Sam Cooke 9. "Shoot to Thrill" - AC/DC 10. "Girls! Girls! Girls!" - Liz Phair
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Interesting. So the MLB is essentially saying these supervisors recommended the wrong umpires for the postseason, and it cost them their jobs. good to see something actually happened. I don't expect umpires to be perfect, but the job that was done in the postseason was a complete joke.
  16. Very intriguing WEC card on Vs. tonight
  17. for those who didn't watch the game or monitor the game thread, when Hendry was in the booth with Len and Bob, Len dropped a nugget along these lines "The Cubs never over-hype their prospects." It good a funny reaction in the game thread.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) The hype was real with Wood and Prior. Their arms were just made of play doh. yeah, but you can argue mechanics/looking at durability are part of evaluating prospects, and with Wood there were red flags all over the place with that guy when it came to that area.
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) "The Cubs dont overhype their prospects" - Cubs announcers. LOL LOL, I woke my dad up who was napping on the coach I laughed so hard when Len said that, it was hands down one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a long time. I'm not saying Castro won't make it, but they were saying basically the exact same things about Pie (just switch the infield stuff to OF) about 3-4 years ago.
  20. LOL, listening to Len and Bob attempt to spin the Carlos Silva situation as a positive while he was getting smacked around was hysterical.
  21. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) We weren't talking about the Packers, Peppers and Kampman. I was sort of but not directly to anybody, more so expressing my displeasure with Green Bay's lack of moves in every off season. have you heard any scuttle on what they may have in mind for this off-season? Also, what's the rumbling on what happened during the playoff game to the D, kind of an anomaly or cause of concern? Personally I think they have a very good D and that was just kind of a fluke game.
  22. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) The best thing Lillibridge can do any AB is sit there with the bat on his shoulder and not move, regardless of the type of pitcher. Yeah, I know some people complain about the expected 25-man, and I even grumble about it a little, it's better than last year, especially the bench
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) I think I'm already bored with Spring Training. It only took, what? 13 innings? I'm kind of with you Kalapse...
  24. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) Damn Paulie, nice snag! I think PK's D has always been underrated. Don't get me wrong, he doesn't have awesome range or anything, but he picks a lot more than other first basemen.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Bears have doled out 33M in up front moneys (20M for Peppers, 6M for Mamu, 7M for Taylor). Still have safety to address. well, that answers my question, considering this is an uncapped year, that makes me feel a lot better about this deal.
