  1. Pitchers will probably see less time, Peavy pitched 112 pitches his previous outing, but I heard for his last outing he'll throw about 70
  2. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) Nady cant even throw the ball so he is a pinch hitter for the first few months of the season and sounds like he will be filling in each position and will play at least 3-4 games a week. yes, for about $140m payroll it's amazing what their roster looks like
  3. watched the Simpsons yesterday... boy that show has fallen so hard, it's bad
  4. Palmero winning one playing something like 20 games at 1b and Jeter winning multiple ones have made them completely worthless in my eyes, even when a White Sox player wins one or they occasionally get one or two positions right a year.
  5. Alves pre-fight MRI came back with a problem and he was pulled from the show, Ben Saunders is now fighting Fitch on the PPV... Alves has to have minor surgery and will only be out a short time, this is not career threatening
  6. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) Their first two albums are masterpieces..... yup, and Rabbit Fur Coat by Jenny Lewis is phenomenal too. I like "Under the Blacklight" a lot more than many of the fans, it's definitely a departure from their normal sound, but I really enjoy it.
  7. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 06:20 AM) I never paid much attention to Mariotti but often heard quotes from his writing. Then I saw him on Around the Horn and decided that if I ever saw him in person I would most likely kick him in the nuts...only because of the incredibly stupid look on his face. I figure that if he goes down with a nut shot he wouldn't be able to say much, except for some squeaking and gasping. you would enjoy some of the deadspin articles that have candid photos of him creepily trolling bars... http://deadspin.com/5467201/our-deadspin-s...ct-jay-mariotti
  8. Looks like Fedor/Werdum is scheduled for June in Strikeforce, I read the MMAweekly.com article and they did not mention whether it's on CBS or Showtime. I had heard Fedor had a CBS only contract, but I also heard CBS is going to really put a lot of stock into the April card's ratings and if they tank they might be done with MMA, so we shall see. I imagine they could get a CBS show in the summer since summer is usually a ratings wasteland and if Strikefoce shows a pulse CBS might be willing to give them another show. From Coker's comments, this is the continuation of his original Strikeforce contract, doesn't seem like an extension has been agreed to yet. The talk of him fighting Yoshida on NYE in Japan seems like a fabricated rumor
  9. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) Agreed, I think they are really laying the groundwork for some good story lines with these early episodes. Just watched the first one tonight and have the new one on my DVR. Really enjoyed the first one, it will be interesting to see how they handle the series, meaning is it going to be storyline driven or have a lot of stand alone episodes with the big storylines kind of interweaving. Like for the X-Files I preferred the stand alone episodes and actually was never really drawn into the hovering storylines of the series.
  10. have been burning up the Rilo Kiley on my I-Pod lately, always been a fan, but for some reason the last month or so wearing the albums out
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Not too mention probably not wanting to show too much off to a team he may face 3, 4, or even 5 times this year. Yup, the Score just played a clip of Peavy saying he and Cooper decided not to show KC anything today.
  12. as long as Peavy feels good and healthy tomorrow I can live with a bad outing today.
  13. Meltzer reported that Dana is saying they're going to keep him (Bones) away from title level guys for another year to get him ready. I'm not sure who they will have him fight, maybe like the loser of Rashad and Rampage. He also reported Vera broke 3 bones in his orbital socket from the Jones elbow.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) No. When his velocity returns to mid-90+ on a consistent basis I will stop worrying about the closer position. I do not think that is going to happen. wasn't his velocity below mid 90s when he retired all those guys in a row?
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) At this point of the season, I don't think it really mattered for the two weeks. The scary thing for Nathan is that he is 35 now, so by the time he recovers, and then spends the extra year to get back to normal he will be 37. He might be done for good for all practical purposes. IMO it was his age that had them wait 2 weeks then try because as you pointed out, he'll be about 37 before he is likely 100% again. I think if he was 25 he would have been cut on already.
  16. well, Self has never shown to be a good Xs and Os coach, he can recruit like all get out though! Basically if his tip top stars don't play well he doesn't adjust well, even against a team with inferior talent like NI. Awesome job by NI though, I don't want to sound like I'm taking anything away from them, they took some gutsy shots and drilled them.
  17. Entertaining, but the whole seem rang hollow a little to me since they were glorifying this rivalry and at best one of these teams were the 2nd best team in the NBA during this stretch, but again, well done and kept me entertained. 30 for 30 has been very good, I'm the first one to rip on ESPN, so I want to give them kudos when they come through. The Jimmy the Greek one was excellent and I would say go out of your way to see the Len Bias one
  18. Tomorrow starts 3 UFC shows in 11 days, 2 being on basic cable. There are some real good fights I am looking forward to on these cards and of course could always get a gem in a fight that we weren't expecting... I'd say top 5 from the 3 cards I would go... Florian vs. Gomi Jones vs. Vera JDS vs. GG Carwin vs. Mir Fitch vs. Alves I am looking forward to the GSP vs. Hardy fight, but just think GSP is such a heavy favorite that those 5 are more intriguing to me on paper. Wow, really some good fights from the UFC in 11 days. Looking forward to the Saunders fight to see if he can keep progressing, Kongo vs. Buentello could be a stand-up barn-burner, Struve vs. Nelson is intriguing to me if for no reason but their two completely different body types, and also hoping Guida bounces back on the under-card of the Vs. card and it gets aired!! Also, they have the Abu Dabi card about 10 days after all of this. I guess all those underwhelming on paper cards due to injuries (although the Rashad/Silva card ended up being entertaining) are being made up for! Not to mention there's a Strikeforce Challengers card (which are usually good) and a Dream card in the middle of all of this!
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) I think this is a biger deal then you're making it. The Rangers organization has an obligation to Josh Hamilton to protect him from drugs, Wash blatantly disregarded these rules. We saw how easily tempted Hamilton is, and to have someone who he looks up to, use it on a whim is unforgivable. It might be a flight of fancy for Wash, but for Hamilton it's an addiction. I strongly disagree with this. The Rangers only obligation is to run a professional organization and from what I know about recovering addicts, they would never expect someone else to have an obligation to keep them clean, that's a personal struggle that they have.
  20. I saw him hit the ball to the right center gap the other day, the last few years he has been extremely pull happy, so that and a couple other of bats I saw at least show he's changed his approach
  21. Raw 3.7 Impact .8 (From Meltzer) Hopefully for TNA those DVRs were fired up!!
  22. OK, looks like Vs. wasn't misleading the UFC when they signed the deal, Direct TV and Vs. came to an agreement, if you have Direct TV it should be back today and in time for the UFC on Sunday night, which I'm really looking forward to with Bones vs. Vera
  23. Favorite Fighter: Dan Henderson Favorite Fight: Gomi/Diaz First Fight: First live fight was on the Ultimate Ultimate PPV (The one Severn won) but I had seen the earlier videos before For Honor: BJ Penn For Hatred: Chris Leben and I would want to Anderson Silva him! 5 Fight Card: BJ vs. Aoki (Just to shut up BJ haters), A. Silva vs. GSP, Henderson vs. Marquardt, Shogun vs. Machida II, Brock vs. Fedor Rule Change: give orgs the option to have certain non-title fights go 5 rounds. History Fight: Keith Hackney in more modern times where the ground game was stressed Best Current Fighter: Fedor or BJ Fighter from other sport: hard to tell because getting punched in the face completely changes the game. Lashley's Opponents: None, all those guys have some skill and are pretty big dudes. Scared to Fight: Lesnar Fighter have my back: Lesnar, looks scary!
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) This is based on losing a pitcher in a vacuum and that all other players stay the same, which of course is not the real world. His loss puts a huge burden on the other players and changes the roles and workload of the entire pitching staff. There is no math that can account for that. It also makes the margin for any other injury razor thin... say the Twins luck out and everything is great for the first month, but one of their other back end BP guys come up with an injury, then the well they have to go to replace that person is one pitcher less in depth. It's a domino effect in many ways
  25. either the rock version of "Blue Moon" that Ricky Hatton comes out to our "Still Believe" by Tim Capello (It's the song in "Lost Boys" that the huge jacked up sax player is singing at the carnival)
