  1. Looks like a play Crede botched a week ago.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LeRoy Hunt? W€ll at least we didn't draft his brother Mike!
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have no idea the kind of scouts we had on this board. They're the kind that don't go to the game an watch the actual play. Stats sheets tell everything you need to know about the guy.
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And Dye, Thome, AJ, Uribe, Iguchi, Paulie don't suck? Except for Thome, they are all sucking this year, but comparing the track records of these players to Crede, only Uribe would suck like Crede. Seriously, Thome sucks this year???
  5. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Serious question. is anybody else worried that a loss tonight coupled with Cleveland's automatic win against the crap Royals has pretty much eliminated the Sox from the division race the first week of June? Are we only playing for a wild card the rest of the way? We knew the division would be tough but to be close to eliminated in June? Did Twins fans think the same way last year? How about Indians fans two years ago? It's not over yet, but the window keeps closing ever so slowly each day.
  6. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now with Crede out, it only figures to get worse production wise. I have a question for those who get to go to the home games. Is the Cell a morgue with our lineup so horrible? Are people visibly frustrated? Booing? Sarcastic? Or do they just expect Dye to pop up and Paulie to whiff and AJ to pop up and thome to hit it right on the ground at somebody playing him perfectly in the shift? Just curious. Or is everybody just happy to be at the park watching a game? I'd think the lack of runs and the bullpen being the worst in baseball would make fans on edge at the Cell. Have you checked Crede's numbers lately? .216/.258/.317 He sucks.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You select him, take your chances signing him, and if you don't you, get the pick next year. So you lose a year of developing a player. That also takes a year away from making that player a valuable trading chip. So did all the teams before us make a pick that was better than the Tigers?
  8. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would be willing to see the Sox cut payroll and spend it on player development. I wouldn't say "cut payroll," but "spending it in better places" is a better answer. We didn't need to spend $3.9 million on two mediocre, grindy outfielders.
  9. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hmmmm... one plus pitch four plus pitches??? gee, which one has more upside? Explain that to the other 10 teams that wanted nothing to do with him. Don't you think they know that? They obviously value the negoiation process a LOT more than our Mel Kipers here. The upside isn't the point. What good is selecting a guy if he's not a lock to sign or you know it will be difficult? Of course if the Sox are/were willing to give a prospect that kind of money ($3-5 million,) it's only natural that the b****ing about not spending that money on the major league team will start to arise.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A couple of tidbits hot off the presses: - the Sox never considered Porcello today. There was only one team that contacted him besides the Yankees that picked after #10 - the Sox were leaning to taking Main or Alderson So I guess the Sox aren't the only MLB team with their heads up their asses, or the experts here ASSume way too much. I wonder which one it is.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And it's not like the Tigers are so much more f***ing wealthy than the Sox. Yes they are. Their owner owns a pizza franchise. It's a s***ty pizza, but it still brings in a ton of dough. EDIT: No pun intended. :
  12. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Detroit's not that far of drive. Why don't you all pack up and go root for them. I'm sick of this constant bashing that the White Sox cannot do anything right. It is so extreme it's pathetic. It's funny considering probably 80% of the posters here in this thread have never even been to a Sox minor league game. I'm betting an even higher percentage have never seen either, or any of these guys play in a game. Who knows what the guy will even sign for, if he gets sign, and if he ever makes a contribution to the Tigers' MLB team.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's got some pretty pathetic strike out numbers. Sounds like he might as well be Matt Thornton's brother. That was my first thought as well. So who do we take with our supplemental pick from the Royals for the Riske signing? Oh right. Well it's not like we could use Riske anyways. Oh, we could???
  14. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not only Porcello, but for Main or Smoker. Perhaps Matt Harvey. It'd be devastating if we miss our projected player because of one more victory than the the preceding team. That's why I said before, any victory made after we were out of contention last season is one less opportunity to draft our player. Look at 2002 and Cole Hamels; we selected right afterwards. Draft position is huge, and can easily change a team's future. How do you know the Sox were even targeted Cole? Draft position in the MLB draft is not huge as evident by the number of flops in the early rounds and successful players who come after the second round or so. Give it a rest already. If you aren't rooting for the major league team to win, you aren't a fan of the major league team.
  15. What are the odds that the Sox non-tender him before the 2008 season? I guess it really depends on Fields' performance.
  16. I've tried defending Javy for a long time. I know he has sexy "peripherals," but he doesn't have what it takes to be a dominant pitcher over a long period of time like Jake Peavy. Last time I checked, Wang is a pretty good pitcher who isn't going to give up 4 runs a game like Javy did in one inning early in the game. He had a very similar outing against the Yanks at home last year where he went 5 innings, gave up 6 hits, 6 walks, 2 earned runs and had 8 K's. Like the Yankees yesterday, the Sox had a 4 run inning early in the game giving him some room to work with. These things balance out in the end. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore;_ylt=...F?gid=260810104

  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But did you see all the strikeouts Javy Vazquez was able to accumulate? It's funny to see posters b**** for minor leaguers to have high K numbers and high speed gun readings, yet when we get to the major league level they bomb out. See Vazquez and the bullpen.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone else having problems with that counter on "briguys" sig? Comp. Performance wise? yes, it screws up the loading of my page if I switch back and forth.
  20. So no game tomorrow against the Yankees?
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> this team lacks personality. we have a bunch of workmanship guys doing there jobs not so well. to say the least i miss AROW If we had Rowand tonight we would've totally won this game!!! He kills the Yankees!!!!
  22. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> KW really needs to do something to shake this team up.... F_R_E GR_G W_LK_R Would anybody like to buy a vowel? I figure KW is more focused on the draft right now, but maybe something will happen after this weekend.
  23. How come nobody in the organization has been commenting on this offense? When was the last time Hawk said "I never seen a team with this much talent go through a funk like this?"
  24. I'd like to see the worst, non-inury, seasons by a soon to be free agent.
