Media Starting on Ozzie Deathwatch...
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why does everybody keep insisting that we didn't play small ball in 2005? //boggles Yeah we had home run power and won a lot of games that way, especially in the playoffs. But in the regular season? Come on... Because Ozzie said so himself. How many times have we gone over this with you? Do you own the Sox World Series DVD?

Tell your best
One of the guys in my fantasy league's buddy found out his girlfriend was cheating on him with JEFF GARCIA, so he went to his house in Cleveland and punched him out.

6/10 Games -> Mercedes goes for the cycle
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow -- 2 OK games and now he's on his way. I don't think there's any sign of a corner being turned yet, although it would be a career first if Floyd managed to master the opposition in AAA. If he does end up pitching as well in AAA as Felix Diaz did for an extended time then he may merit a call up. I still wouldn't put money on him getting big league hitters out. Also, does everyone really think he has "good stuff". I only saw him in spring training, but it wasn't obvious to me that he had exceptional anything (admittedly, I know nothing about pitching)..... I agree. I wouldn't mind seeing Floyd being moved at the deadline either because after next spring he'll have to be on the big league squad otherwise he has to clear waivers. He doesn't suck enough that even a team like the Royals wouldn't claim him.

This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.
Nuke, do you think the message on the Statue of Liberty should be sand blasted away?

How much do we ship off?
80% minimum for the arbitration settlement. I'm not giving Crede at least $4 million for 2008.

Freddy Garcia Thread
So if people are giving KW so much credit for Garcia getting hurt (and really, it's never great when the highlight of your trade is that the player you gave up is hurting,) how come more people aren't bashing for NOT trading Crede? The Sox knew Crede was ailing. His value was actually somewhat high, and there was a demand for him.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thome came to Chicago thinking he could get a ring. I don't think he's too confident in that now, and he'd jump at the chance to make the playoffs. He said he wanted to come "home" too. Keep Iguchi. He's solid, but he defense is worrying me a little bit. Is it possible that he might help us recruit Ichiro? I also expect Cintron to be move on the last hour of July 31st for cash considerations or a C prospect. Mackowiak could be moved as well for something as high as a "B" prospect. I am praying that if when Pods and Grinderstad come back someone actually shows interest in them and we move them for anything. I can see Contreras waiving his NTC, but I really like the guy as a human being, but I think it's better for the Sox to hold onto him for the offseason. I don't expect Crede to move but don't think he'll be with the Sox in 2008.

Official "Squared Circle" Thread
QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Again, that's just for HOUSE shows - not TV. Agree it was awkward, but it happens sometimes. I too predict Benoit winning the title at Vengeance. Word is it'll be a Fatal Four-Way w/ Punk, Burke & CorVon. Not a bad idea to have CorVon win it and have the others chase him, but I don't see it. I think it'd be a great storyline twist to have one of the wrestlers as a detective, trying to solve the whodunit. I vote for Kane or Eugene. I read that they have been testing out not telling the ending ahead of time, so it would make sense that it would start appearing on TV. Keep in mind the original reports said the refs weren't told the finishes to the mid-card and lower level matches, not the main events. Of course the ECW main event is equivalent to a mid card match so I think the ref screwed it up.

Deals I would try to make
Iowa, you put a lot work into this, but please have more sense when thinking these out. I love trading our cheap closer for a guy who has completely flopped and is getting $10 million for it. How much have we spent on Jenks for his services so far in his young career?

Good Vibes Thread
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If we put Gio or Floyd into the rotation, it would be a lot more interesting than seeing Contreras throw 87 mph with no command and 1/10th the forkball he used to have. Could it be that Contreras has the first big money contract that KW messed up on? Magglio's backloaded contract kinda sucked. $3.75 million in 2001, and $14 million in 2004. He wasn't worth $14 million at the time and the Sox were screwed with compensation picks because there's no way they could guarantee him 80% of $14 million.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If KW knowingly traded a hurt player, no matter how much it benefitted the White Sox, JR should get a new GM. He did it with Sirotka. Any thought of the Phils philing a grievance over this like the Reds did with Majewski? QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't blame him for Sirotka. Toronto did give him a physical and it came up clean. Really? Then what was his comment "his other arm was OK" all about?

Thome diffuses restaurant misbehavior
QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> According to one of the Sox' beat writers, the players who were at the restuarant were AJ (and his wife), JD, Thome, Danks, and Toby Hall. Ed Farmer, Singleton, and Herm Schneider were there too at a different table. I'm guessing they didn't make racist jokes if DJ was sitting there with them.... http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/ The Article clearly stated there wasn't any racist being said. What does DJ have to do with this? Did you mean Dye? So you think the 5 white guys at the table would be making racist comments if JD wasn't there?

Turning point of the season
The turning point of this season will be when the sox reassign Greg Walker in the organization and the Sox win their next 40 of 50! please

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> instead of just b*tching and moaning like a typical hard headed chicagoan, yes they should post their ideas and make the thread constructive instead of clearly being destructive which is what it has become. but that's okay because there are plenty of sox message boards on the net where they are actually friendly. i'd like to take this time to let this board filled with hard headed people who offer nothing and criticize everything, that i am retiring. i am going to a board where the content of one's post matters, not their post count. look at your post counts. no wonder many of you have the mental capacity of a worm. Please don't go. I honestly want to see your next response in the Greg Walker thread after Steff sees the post you left her.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here's the question I have: why in the world would the Yanks do that trade now? If we traded for Abreu, we'd probably have to give him an extension. He reminds me so much of the offensive version of Javy in that way. Well they wouldn't do it NOW, but they were entertaining the idea before the Sox series where predicatably he killed us. Props to Verlander too.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still wouldn't want him due to how much money he makes and how much he struggles against LHP. Also, I could really do without having another one of Ozzie's buddies on the team. I have to imagine the Yanks would be willing to toss in a lot of cash in on that deal. How would Abreu be as a leadoff hitter for 2008?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Two things: - Verlander has a no-hitter through 7 - Masset is a 2-game wonder Abreu with a 3 run homer off of Webb. Too bad the Sox wanted nothing to do with him. \He's now batting .275 and has an OBP around .365.

White Sox vs. Phillies, 6/12/07 (L)
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its good and predictable to hear Hawk start with the injury excuses. Pods goes down.....Erstad goes down.......Ozuna goes down.............Crede goes down.........You lose your speed and power. Good to know that the Sox success hinges on an almost always injured not very good Pods. A usually injured had a tough time finding a regular job Erstad, a six year minor league free agent Ozuna, and a guy with known back issues in Crede. Perfectly summed up. I'd like to see Hawk react to the description of the players that you gave. Two things since I can't see the game: 1. Was Rowand HBP a typical Rowand HBP where he stands so close to the plate and gets hit in the arm? (originally refering to the first one. How about the second one?) 2. What was Iguchi's error like?
