Number of 3 run innings tonight: 13 Number of innings with at least 3 runs: 17 Am I the only one fascinated by this?
-
Tampa with a 3 run first inning. What the f*** is going on tonight?

Why shouldn't people write you off just yet? The introduction of a recent article promoting the draft on the Phillies' official website read: "On Thursday, the Phils will try to restock their Minor League cupboard and seek their next Cole Hamels or Chase Utley. But for every star is a Gavin Floyd." Is it fair to compare you to Cole Hamels?

This early inning run scoring will be mention by BBTN. Remember that one night where 62 homers were hit and the Sox had 7 to the Tigers' 6? "That was awesome." Willis gets killed by righties

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think you win many games or show you are meant to stay in the bigs by giving up 3 runs in the first. But, that's just me Cleveland gave up 3 in the first tonight as did the Mets.

Florida is the fifth team tonight to score 3 runs in the first!

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They don't look vital - however, their style of play is. Getting on base and speed helps an offense score runs a great deal. It can really give a boost and spark an offense. The White Sox are missing that big time. Since when has getting on base been part of Erstad's style of play? Pods' "speed" is worthless if he's hurting because he can't steal bases. Since Scott himself said he's worthless if he can't steal bases, then him being hurt in the slightest way makes him worthless.
-
I'm not the biggest Adam Dunn fan, as I think he is overrated with people going as far to claim he is one of the top ten hitters in the game, but I'd take him over Podsednik. I really hope the Sox figure out that Pods and Erstad aren't that vital to the Sox's success and shouldn't be counted on for anything.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's no choice for "trade Buehrle because we're not going to re-sign him." The Sox can still sign Buehrle even after they trade him. They'll just have to wait until November.

This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kind of hard for people to want to engage you in conversation when you take a ridiculously pedantic, literalist tack on a single example in a complex discussion. If you stopped inspecting the bark on that one tree, you might catch a glimpse of the forest. It's getting ridiculous. It started with Alpha Dog looking out at some hispanics doing yardwork, assuming they were illegal, and saying they weren't working hard. Then he talks about how hard his job is and how hard he works. Then Steff adds her story about how hard she worked while going through school and interning. Then Jenksismyb**** tops it off with talking about how hard it is to work 40-45 hours a week at a law firm and going to law school along with the debt he will have when he finishes. Aside from alpha dog assuming the citzenship status of some slacking workers, what do these examples have to do with illegal immigration? The message was apparently Americans work too hard to have good lives and illegals get it for free. I honestly don't know any illegals who go to college, law school for free or own their own legal business without paying the same costs as an American Citizen. I'm betting these three posters wouldn't trade their live with an illegal. They've worked too hard for it and they live much better lives. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So would I. I'm sure that would piss Jenks off even more. :rolleyes Now that I see you're going to take the smartass route you can play with the rest of the board. They will do a much better job of tearing you a new ass than I would on this topic anyway. Jenks is specifically b****ing about having to pay for law school. You said in response to my post that he should be mad for someone "who didn't work for it (law school) get's (sic) for free." I don't know of ANY illegals that have come across the border and were able to obtain a law degree for free. If Jenks was complaining about working hard and paying lots of money to become a roofer, painter, landscaper, or another job illegals tend to work, you would have a valid point. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well.. now I've read it all. Damn you Jenks for wanting a better life, working your ass off for it, and being a wee bit ticked off when someone who didn't work for it get's it for free. I'd love to see an illegal who became a lawyer for free. I really would. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This argument is making me sick. Immigration is what made this country great. Illegal immigration will cripple this country. Go ahead, get in a car accident with an illegal immigrant. I bet most of you know someone or had it happen to you. How did that work out? Yep, they had no license, no insurance and suddenly "not live there" when their court date came up. Probably changed names and social security numbers while your insurance goes up. How is that any different than the number of cheap/stupid American citizens who drive without licenses and/or insurance? What's the ratio to uninsured/no license citizens to uninsured/no license aliens? -

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Count me in the camp that feels no sympathy for illegals. I work 40-45 hours a week at a VERY demanding firm downtown and have law school at night from 6-9pm, five days a week. And when I'm finished, I get to pay off about 130-140k in loans. You weren't born in the life of a legal firm, and nobody is forcing you to go law school. These immigrants, like many of our ancestors, were born in s***ty environments and are willing to face criminal charges and go through extreme dangers to come here and work a s***ty job for the rest of their lives. 5 years from now you'll have a smaller debt and a cushy job, and you earned by working hard. 5 years from now an illegal will still work the same level s***ty job (dishwasher, landscaper, painter, etc..) making the same s***ty money, still not receiving medical benefits but the alien will mind his or her own business while Mr. Whitecollar like yourself is trying to push them out of the country thinking it isn't fair that you can get the newest Mercedes because you have too much debt in your house and law school. -
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is the biggest f***ing lie. Raines chose to leave. I thought so too, but Ozzie came out with it a few weeks ago: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=whit...t&type=lgns http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=2624402 http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu8GBsXdGtAUB...26league_id=626 Hell I don't even know how I missed those articles. Care to rethink your post?

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The base running has gone downhill since Tim Raines has left the coaches box Oz says he wasn't doing his job, so he had to go. Why is Walker still here again? Oh right, we scored 10 runs tonight so that buys him about 3 days. When Pods and Grinderstad come back we'll average 11 runs per game! ....and if anyone says "Crede and/or Erstad wouldn't have gotten picked off by Olivo," they are correct because Crede and Grinderstad would not have been on base.
-
Amazing that Thome has only 27 RBI's. All we asked for KW was to get a leadoff man that would get on base. He brought back Pods and foolishly signed Erstad. He had to know Ozzie was going to overplay him.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jim Thome is easily my favorite player in the game today. He's f***ing amazing in every way. Let's imagine he'll waive his NTC and save ourselves the $8 million for next season.

So a blooper, barely hit by pitch, bad range, and now we have a tie game.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can officially say that I'm rooting for this team to lose over the next 3 weeks. Just like this last series, I want to see Fields, Dye, and Buehrle do well. Supposedly you should never root against your own team or root for injuries. I won't root against the Sox, but I really hope I don't have to hope for both of these guys to have set backs.

"Groiny and Grindy." I like it

QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The way we have been playing: I perdict Olivia goes 4-4 with 3RBIs and Bochard hits a pinch hit Grandslam off of Aardsma in the 8th Anyway go SOX Newton John?

Isn't John McDonald pretty slick with the glove? His name caught my eye.
-
Doesn't Iguchi have some clause lke Hideki Matsui's last year where he must be signed by the Sox before November 15th, and that he won't provide and supplemental picks (i.e. not Arbitration eligable.) someone convince me that Betemit's .140 IsOD is more than just a flukey thing. His career major league numbers are pretty close to his career minor league numbers
