How about just Dye for Billingsley and Betemit. We control the market.

White Sox vs. Pirates, 6/17/07 (L)

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can we leave Uribe it Pitt and take Jack Wilson? I couldn't imagine paying $7 million a year for a SS that puts up the same offensive numbers as Grinderstad. I don't care how good his defense is. -
Took a nap and saw the box score. I saw the Thome's sac fly. Man, he's so unclutch!

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
santo=dorf replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Why would Thome waive his no trade clause, and why would anyone want to replace his production with Dunn's? -
Didn't go to the game, but the I-Flubs lost again. Rick FOCKING Ankiel hit 3 more home runs to increase his total to 19.

This and that. It was at Club Element, and I went to their website to look for a phone number. Couldn't find it, but they did have a box to contact via email. Basically I told them a $25 tip on a $20 bill made no sense and perhaps they misread the total line as the tip line. No response directly, (they said they would contact,) but I noticed today that $20 was deposited back in my credit account. I was just going to eat it (really not that much to me,) but I'm not going to use a credit card to pay for a round anymore (that was my first time.)

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
santo=dorf replied to AssHatSoxFan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Wow I had no idea the finals ended two days ago. Seriously. WORST. FINALS. EVAR. NBA Champions since I was born (August 1983): Lakers - 6 times Bulls - 6 times Spurs - 4 times Pistons - 3 times Rockets - 2 times Celtics - 2 times Heat- 1 time only 7 different champions. I like that. -
MacDougal recalled from AAA-Charlotte, Prinz DFA'ed

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am surprised it took them this long... You must not be aware of the option rule that a player is required to spend at least 10 days in the minors before coming back. MacDougal spent 11 days, and Aardsma spent 12. -
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, firing the hitting coach shows that they care. How about trading away some of this crap and getting something in return. That would show me they care, not firing the hitting coach. KW and the front office would show me that they care by firing the hitting coach. This performance is inexcusable. Somebody has to take the fall. It's true Walker can't bat for them, but if they're not listening to him, what is the point of having him as a coach?

How come we don't have one of these by now? Went to the I-Cubs and Memphis Redbirds game tonight. Lots of Cards fans there. The stadium is really nice, better than Wrigley. Rick Ankiel hit a bomb to RF off of Ryan O'Malley. He also took one deep to center but it was caught right at the wall. It's amazing how far this guy has come. Troy Percival pitched the 8th with a 3 run lead. Gave up a lead off single to Ronny Cedeno, who stole second, and almost got tagged out after he wandered off the base dusting himself off not calling a time out. Percival had a couple of K's, and he was consistently around 89 MPH topping out at 91. Cubs lose 4-1. :fthecubs

This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.
santo=dorf replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
I'm confused by the term "legal immigrant." Is that what you righties call QP's dad? I noticed how she reffered to him as a "legal resident." So essentially in America we have: Born Citizens citizens by naturalization legal residents and illegal immigrants. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong up until this point. Why is it always the assumption that the illegal immigrants don't want to go through the process to become a citizen or legal resident and they just want to be some leach on society? Half of the illegals that snuck in here last year were due to overstaying on work or school visas. I'd argue that if they went through the trouble of getting a visa, they'd be willing to go through and get a legal document that allows them to be here. Just how difficult is it to obtain this documentation? QP said it took her father 6 years. -
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now I wonder how the fans are going to react to this angle given a real 10 bell salute needs to happen for the hall of famer...they are going to crap all over this Vince gimmick now given this tragic death. Well at least Vince kept the shows going after his death just like Owen Hart!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 08:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So who were the Padres offering for Crede? No formal deal was ever proposed. Another thing on Gio; wasn't his value higher when we traded him the first time compared to when we traded for him? It's like selling your google stock for $40 a share, then one year later paying $55 for that same stock. It could be worth more in the future, but as soon as you made the buy back you took a loss.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Without much research on my part, I imagine that was probably the greatest inning in White Sox history, especially given the circumstances. Well Marte s***ting his pants in that inning disqualifies it. The 9th inning of game 4 was awesome. I nominated one of Charlie Robertson's 9 innings from 4-30-22 -
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Or maybe you shouldn't take veiled shots at people, since you have a history of being overly-sensitive to criticism. Erstad has a track record of being a halfway productive hitter. Throwing out last year, which he missed most of due to injury, his OPS was around .700-.750 in '05 and '04. KW took a small ($750k) gamble on a vet who had actually been productive in the recent past. It didn't pay off, but Anderson's so freaking bad that a career bench player like Terrero took his spot. What has Anderson ever done to earn his way into the starting lineup? Having an OPS close to .700 isn't a good thing, especially if the league average is .743 (2005 average compared to his awful .696.) In 2004 his OPS was .746, which seems OK, but the league average was .770. Even when healthy Grinderstad isn't an average player in recent years.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Intentional or not, that made me laugh pretty damn hard. Thanks. Glad someone caught it. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And as far as this: I don't think that's the highlight of the trade. I think this is, and always has been, the highlight of the trade. This is my personal bias, but for some reason I'm not jumping up and down about acquiring a former Sox prospect whose durability and small frame were questioned when he was traded the first time, and he's coming off a mediocre year in AA. Keep in mind that the GM said he would not trade a starter unless the major league team received help. I like Gio, but honestly it never felt like he left and he doesn't help out this 2007 team. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 07:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was? I keep seeing this said, but who offered what players? The only time I saw Crede's name mentioned, it was for Chone Figgins. The Padres were looking for a third baseman since the last trade deadline. They were rumors or at least talk back in July about the two teams, and San Diego did indeed make a move to acquire a third baseman this offseason.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can turn it into whatever you want to turn it into, but to say that injuries haven't hurt this team is just wrong. I'm not saying that, in fact I agree that if this team was healthy they would have a better record. If you build a house by the ocean, you shouldn't complain when a hurricane hits it. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anderson's OPS this year: .387 Anderson's career OPS: .532 Despite the career-high OPS in '06, Anderson still struck out 90 times last year (with only 30 walks) in 365 at-bats. Oh, and he can't steal bases either. Erstad is clearly in the twilight of his career and his production has slid significantly, but it isn't difficult to understand why Ozzie didn't want Anderson starting in CF at the beginning of the season. Ozzie Guillen was ROY in 1985 with a line of: .273/.291/.358 Brian Anderson's rookie year: .225/.290/.359 You say Anderson "only walked" 30 times, but that was in 400 PA's. Crede in his career year last season walked 28 times in 579 PA's. Just looking at Brian's ISoD (OBP-BA) you can tell he has a pretty good walk rate. Guillen never drew 30 walks in a season despite having around 550 PA's a season early in his career. Some people claim Guillen has a latino bias, but it appears he's harder on rookies than whities. Maybe it's because of that ROY award.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Although I believe the season is a formality I'd still like to keep it respectable. So why do we want Erstad back?

Gotta be Cabrera. He's like Ozzie with a little more power. Doesn't walk much, steals some bases, gold glover, grinder, and he's a small shortstop.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would the Sox be eight games under .500 if everyone was healthy? No, but I still think they would be around .500. Have all of the Sox's opponents been 100% healthy at the time we played them?

Kevin Mench: .274 BA, .275 OBP Garret Anderson: .274 BA, .276 OBP I-Roid: .293 BA, .306 OBP (actually doubled his walk total to 4 over the past 5 days)
