QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure they do. President is his job title. Benedict's job title is Pope. If you don't believe the guy has some kind of divine qualities or his position makes him holy, why should you address him as "His Holiness"? Personally, I think expecting people to address you by a nickname that compliments you is lame. I understand where you are coming from, but when you go to court, you don't act like Joe Pesci in "My Cousin Vinny." You are to finish your sentences with "your honor," not "Judge."

Players only Team meeting after the game

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I watch the games, not the stat sheets. I've seen Thome come up numerous times this year in key situations and fail. Yesterday was one of the few times I've seen him come through in the clutch, especially that late in the game. When was the last time he did that in the eighth or ninth inning of a close game? He may be the tallest midget in the Sox offense right now, but he along with Dye and Konerko are supposed to carry this offense. The "clutch" arguments are getting so old. You won't like it, but the stat sheets disagree with you. 7th inning: .200/.467/.500 167 OPS+ 8th inning: .357/.500/.429 158 OPS+ 9th inning:.500/.692/.625 292 OPS+ RISP: .296/.475/.630 188 OPS+ RISP w/2 outs: .250/.667/.500 214 OPS+ Those are some GREAT numbers. This year Jim Thome is one of the most clutch players in the game. Perhaps Thome would have more of a chance to succeed in those situations if the guys in front of him would get on base, and the guys behind him would actually pose a threat to the opposing pitcher making them not pitch around Thome. Again, why should we take any of your posts seriously if you're just using a (poor) selective memory to form an opinion about a player over the entire course of this season so far? QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't anyone just admit that they are wrong? Goodness. I cannot even fathom to understand how you would say that Thome has been bad. If you are looking for times when someone fails, you are going to find it. Especially in hitting a baseball. Stop looking at one or two situations that he may have failed and look at his whole body of work. Must be something in the Ankeny air. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> National League Central continues to show how bad it is....besides whoever plays the Sox, of course. I told my buddy to bet the Nats -1.5 for +400. He didn't listen. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wonder if it hurts Bonds' feelings when Aaron says things like, "I don't even know how to spell his last name," then laughs. If it does, it wouldn't hurt for long because of how little recovery times are for Bonds due to all the steroids he has taken.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 01:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jim Thome has a 1.025 OPS this season. He is NOT the reason the Sox are in the position they're in. ...and Thome drove in both of the only runs yesterday. SSFM, are you just ranting for the attention, or have you not been watching Thome play this year. -
QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I saw the sign that edition of Raw. Just another fan who knows nothing about wrestling psychology. ...and what exactly is that? Using the same weak looking submission move because you have to talk over the match with your opponent ever 3 minutes? Orton sucks.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 06:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tried a combination off Goo Gone, Goof Off, WD-40 and the blow dryer and those stickers on the trunk ain't goin' nowhere. Guess I have to go to plan B which is to use some White Sox stickers as cover up. By the way, one sticker reads: "Wyoming authentic and proud". The other one reads the same AND it has a pciture of a cowboy riding a horse in the background. C'MON. I made a mistake of putting on some decals that ended up looking stupid and s***ty but was able to remove most of it with nail polish remover. Of course now I have some white streak that shows up after I wash it off so I decided to buy some new taillights for just under $400. They'll look badass though. <--Not my car

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess if you want to call a guy who sells moves well, has great ring psychology, and is a natural arrogant heel, boring, than ok. Orton is a throwback. Remember when you didn't have to be good on the mic to be good. I guess all the "smarks" hate Benoit as well cuz he is boring on the mic as well.

ISOD = OBP-BA Anderson has drawn 1 walk in 116 PA's. I-Roid has drawn 2 in 209 PA's.
-
Nice start by Lieber. Struck out the first 7 Royals of the game tonight. I noticed Garrett Anderson has an ISOD of .002 this season.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, wouldn't lose anything but Broadway if Linebrink didn't re-sign. I've never been a fan of Broadway's at all, so I'm biased. So why not trade Broadway for someone who will actually be with the White Sox for more than half a season?

White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)

this is reminding me of the 2003 team in like May. This is not fun watching this team struggle. -

Small props for Walker and Uribe for getting him to surpass his walk total of 2006. Just a gapper now PLEASE. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't blame them though. Thome's been real bad vs lefties....and I'm sure he doesn't have good memories of PK vs Qualls with them loaded. Unfortunately the 2007 version of Konerko is not the October 2005 version of Konerko. That's Thome's second 2-RBI single against Miller. He also has a walk in his 5 career PA's against him AJ actually hits LHP much better than RHP this year. .879 OPS -

Thank you Garner for being a complete idiot. All they had to do was set up Konerko for the DP. Hilarious. Now they walk one of our guys to set up the DP. -

Iguchi is swinging a hot bat. Why waste an out just to take the bat out of Thome's hands? -

QUOTE(sin city sox fan @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Alright...that strikeout could be the momentum swing to turn this season around. I would totally buy his jersey at the end of the regular season if somehow Bukvich was responsible for the Sox's success. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey Santo....would you disagree with me if I said this Sox team would finish in a dogfight for 3rd in the NL Central this year with the Cards and Astros? This team, right now would be a third place contending team in the central. Hell we could be worse considering our only good hitter over the course of the season is our DH. -

QUOTE(PoopsThompson @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ahh... this is when I just take a step back, relax, and laugh at the pitiful pitchers that we have in our bullpen. Seriously, when are we gonna get rid of Kenny Williams? If the ownership won't get rid of the batting coach during times like this, why would they get rid of the only guy showing frustration and giving a damn? -
I must ask; who is Ken William? MacDougal is too cheap to give away. We signed him for $6.5 million dollars for three years. Considering we are paying $3.9 million for Erstad and Podsednik to play in the dirt and get hurt, I don't think it's a backbreaker for the Sox. Why move him when his value is at its absolute lowest?

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Has there ever been a worse 100 million dollar payroll? I can't think of one unless you consider the Yankees 200 million dollar payroll in the same equation. But the Yanks are not nearly as bad as us. Last years Flubs. The Mariners have been high in payroll the past couple of years. The Mets a few years ago Christ, that was off the top of my head. So does Greg Walker think there are no ways to improve Uribe's swing? What a joke. -
Pretty interesting stuff there. In 2006 Half of the illegals that snuck in here came via overstaying on legal work or school visas. The 700 mile fence Bush wants to build is not continuous over the 2000 mile border. The wall in San Diego was built by illegal immigrants costing the construction company $5 million in fines. I wonder why they didn't get a Union to do it.
