White Sox vs. Yankees, 6/6/07 (L)
santo=dorf replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2007 Season in Review
So Fields' groundout to second put the runner in position to score, and the runner scored on the next play. After the Erstad signing people were saying that is what he was best at, productive outs. Fields and Erstad are both even at 1 when it comes to a runner scoring after a groundout to second. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 08:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wonder how many fire sale threads will be started tonight? I'm Ron Burgundy? -
QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> from what i've read, so far it's worked pretty well. I saw more 1 counts on Monday's Raw than the past 5 years of wrestling. I wish they would stop calling it a "near fall" however.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree that Young wouldn't come here because of the extension, but this is by FAR the worst year of his career. He's had 6 straight 200 hit seasons (IIRC... someone might want to double check me but I know it's a string of them) and I sure as hell would put my money down on a guy like that then the rest of the choke artists we have on the Sox right now. Michael Young is a damn good ballplayer, this year's stats notwithstanding. Michael Young is overrated and overpaid. He is a product of the Ballpark in Arlington or whatever they call it. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> who needs a third baseman badly? The Chicago White Sox. I'm keeping my toes, fingers and nuts crossed that Fields is the answer and that the Crede era comes to a quick end. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Too bad we don't have a "Greg Walker Lynch Mob thread" that we could put this in... It's only natural for Whitesoxfan101 to start a thread on same three damn topics after each sox loss.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tyler Clippard? lol. Before any more comments like this are made, SC said the Sox were 9-0 against Rookie pitchers this year. I'm shocked by that.

When did Gary Ward get the ax? Didn't Von Joshua get the boot in May?

We need a 9th inning similar to the Blue Jays' 5 walks, 4 doubles, 6 runs

Crede Out Again, Possible DL Trip (per Score)

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hindsight being 20/20, I have to agree 100%. Maybe it's hindsight for you, but I wanted him moved this past offseason, but not for junk like Ervin Santana and Chone Figgins. -
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hell, I would so much rather be the Devil Rays organization right now. There talent level is so much higher than us every where in the organization. Go root for the Devil Rays then. One less compulsive whiner on the board. What do the Devil Rays have to show for all that "talent level?" They have been talked about for years and stiill can't get out of the basement.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't you wonder why some teams just continually produce solid big league players like the Braves, the Yankees, the Indians, the Twins...And then wonder why the Sox can't. Well it lies within the organization and sometimes you need a clean sweep to reconstruct. The majority of minor league picks are busts. Go through the draft sheets. There are many more teams who have failing prospects than guys who make the big show. The Yankees have developed Cano, and then about 10 years before that it was Jeter and Posada. Not exactly a great track record there.

Wow, Ozzie was truly awful that year. 593 PA's, 23 extra base hits, 14 GIDP, and a .608 OPS. No wonder why he likes grindErstad so much

I was waiting for someone to mention Riske's name: Riske: 25.2 IP, 2.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 19 K's. But I guess it was just so silly to offer a type A free agent coming off a $1.8 million salary arbitration.

Any gems by Hawk tonight?

I'd love to trave for Abreu just to STOP KILLING THE SOX!!!

How exactly did Dye git to third from first on a grounder to the shortstop?

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 07:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Lou is doing anything he can to get tossed from that job. Can anyone confirm the rumor, or at least provide a link to the speculation that Piniella has an out clause if the Yankees job opens up or if the Cubs are sold?
-
Just Sox rumors and fantasy proposals? Send legitimate rumors about other teams to Diamond Club? Of course it seems everytime one player is mentioned for a team someone asks "what would we have to give up to get (player's name?)

Figures. Sox win against the Yankees, an hour later the post game thread hasn't reached its second page. The Sox lose, 5 threads are created, 3 by the same person, and the board crashes 5 minutes after the final pitch is thrown.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, they gave jenks a save when he wasnt going to get one initially Um, yes he was. A pitcher can't pitch himself into a save situation QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jenks is 98 to 100. This blows , we are going to lose this game. Stick to your cub games.
