  1. I will really question KW's character if decides not to rid this team of some of its free agents even if the Sox are on some kind of hot streak. Do we really need Erstad, Pods, Dye, Mack, Cintron, and Iguchi?
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If he thinks the team losing will help them in the long run then how does that make him a bad fan? He has good intentions. I didn't know there were certain rules you had to follow in order to be a real fan. Because the getting the number 1 pick is not the only way for this team to help them out in the long run, and it shouldn't certainly not be the goal of this team. If this organization wants to turn it around, it's going to take a lot more than a simple pick. If you are rooting for the Sox to lose, you are not a fan of the team. It's as simple as that.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Should be no surprise Contreras would wave his no trade. He waived one to come to the White Sox, saying the same thing. I may be the only one on this site that hopes the Sox keep him. I like Contreras too, but if somebody offers a reasonable package for him, I'd consider trading him.
  4. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> okay, we won 3 in a row and a series... time to go back to sucking and try and get that first pick. If that's you're honest thought, you're not a Sox fan. The baseball draft is not like the NFL or NBA draft. Our new scouting director realizes this as well.
  5. Just can't shake the Royals.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm just mad that the Cubs are getting unexpected offensive performance from very odd places, like Angel Pagan and his 117 OPS+ and AAAA player Mike Fontenot and his 173 OPS+, not to mention a couple of guys on the pitching staff who are pitching much better than what they really are in Marshall and Marquis. To be fair, though, Jacque Jones isn't as bad as he has hit in 200+ ABs for the Cubs so far and while I don't expect Pie to be a star as a rookie, I doubt he's as bad as he has been. 2007 Fontenot = 2006 Theriot = 2005 Cedeno They have one every year. He'll be penciled in as a starter and be completely exposed. Stoneman just wasted $6.5 million Shea Hillenbrand was informed Wednesday that the Angels will designate him for assignment on Friday. The Angels apparently will continue their attempts to trade him, but they haven't had any luck so far. The Yankees must figure that they'll be able to do better later on. And they're probably right. If Hillenbrand was half as good as he thought he was, he'd still be twice as good as he is. Kendry Morales should benefit most from Hillenbrand's departure.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bedrooms, dinettes, flea market, Montgomery, it's like a.....mini.......mall, oh yeah... Let's make this, a dance!
  8. Believe it or not, Erstad makes outs at a higher rate than Mack. That being said, they both need to go
  9. The Score says the Sox are winning 7-2. Can anybody confirm this?
  10. I think wins for a pitcher's career can be a little beneficial. Obviously a player isn't going to win 250 or 300 games if he isn't a good pitcher. There have been cases where a player gets tons of run support leading to cheap wins throughout one season (Cliff Lee,) or a journeyman pulls a 20 win season out of his ass (Loaiza) but you don't see players do that consistenly over a 15 year career.
  11. The less we pay attention to them, the better they do.
  12. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The fuse is lit. Too bad the fuse is 300 feet long and the bomb is a dud.
  13. Keep the K's coming as long as we win. The Tigers had terrible plate patience as a team last year.
  14. FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Jacque Jones-to-Florida deal won't happen, "barring an unexpected reversal." The Marlins wanted Jones as their primary center fielder, but apparentely the Cubs were quite desperate enough to get rid of him. Either they refused to pay the majority of the $7 million he's still owed or they wanted a better prospect in return if they were going to eat the salary.
  15. I'm not doubting there are Americans who would work in that position, but I wouldn't call this person a "dirtbag border-crossing illegal." To me the issue isn't really about illegal citizens as it is about illegal Mexicans. Just my $.02
  16. So how much cash did Hendry give up in this deal?
  17. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 07:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And for once here, I'll buy the argument that these dirtbag border-crossing illegals actually are taking jobs that Whitebread America would be willing to do. Why? Because of one case involving a Canadian who was already here legally on a visa? QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 10:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Isn't it a shame that we have these workers that want to work, while citizens sit on their asses and collect welfare? I'd much rather employ and support someone who wants to work and support their family over someone who happened to hit the lottery by being born here. Agreed completely. Instead of forcing companies from not hiring them, don't you think companies would rather hire a hard worker for minimum wage over some high school kid. The problem is employers abuse the system and undercut the workers' wages. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So maybe it is time to end the welfare state. Good luck with that. Instead of using link cards the desperate, starving Americans will resort to stealing it or committing other illegal acts to get it. An illegal will get a crappy job to support his or her life.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure, but it's on multiple stations now in the southeast. All three of them were found in separate rooms. http://www.abcnews.go.com/Sports/story?id=3315501&page=1 hmm
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Reports out of Atlanta now are that it's being investigated as a murder-suicide, with Benoit killing his wife last night, and then taking his own life today. I pray this isn't true. How? There were no gun shots. Would he have used a knife?
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dummy Baker said if our starting pitching was better we would have a better record. Now I see why this fool is unemployed. But at least he was the voice of reason when Kruk was saying in 2006 Thome made the Sox a station to station team and they tried to win games 10-9. Thankfully Baker reminded him how good the 2005 pitching was. Hey Kurk, how many teams who exclusively manufacture runs with smallball are able to win after giving up 9 runs.
  21. I will not root against this team. I would like to see a lot of trades made and yet the Sox win the World Series with a young team ala the 1980 olympic hockey team.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ---Tries to figure out a way to lose without making Jenks look bad--- Living rooms, dinettes Hold them Bobby
