  1. I forgot the most important stat concerning Thome and Bedard tonight; for both of my suck teams I benched Thome and played Bedard. Sox should win tonight. Hopefully 2-0
  2. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't disagree with you on that. Thome gets on base though, the White Sox usually end up getting, what, 5-6 hits vs. Bedard? Put Hall in for Pierzynski, he's a catcher. No wait, the Orioles have Brian Roberts and Hall can't throw. I am just saying why Guillen is doing what he's doing. But Thome does not get on base against LHP and does not get on base against Bedard. Why not put Hall at DH and Pierzynski at catcher? Oh right, the ever important emergency catcher for a 4th place team in a lost season. It's not like Ozzie every plays guys out of position.
  3. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because he can draw walks. No one else on the team appears capable of doing it. It's Bedard, they aren't likely to get many baserunners. Hall is a better option than Thome against Bedard. Just for the fact of how much Jim struggles with LHP and Hall's familiarity with Bedard and strong success against him.
  4. Our biggest free agent acquisition sits yet again. I guess a career line of 440 .462 .560 1.022 in 25 at bats against Bedard isn't good enough. To be fair AJ is 3-5 with 3 singles, but Thome has a career line of 250/.308/.250/.558 against Bedard
  5. I'm really going to get a laugh when KW and the chairman describe 2007 as the season where we were unfortunate with our injuries to guys like Erstad, Podsednik, and Crede. They'll probably toss in Thome's name there too talking about the time he missed, of course Ozzie said they were going to give Thome more time of this year. Don't know why they released Perez if they were thnking that way.
  6. Just release him already. He can take Grindy McGrinderson with him too.
  7. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know. I don't have time to meamorize stats. Last time I checked he wasn't doing horrible. But you could spend another 10 seconds to look up the stats yourself and prevent yourself from making such a silly comment.
  8. I like this a lot. I would like to the trade winds be open all year along just to keep the "Broadway + Haeger + B prospect for Crawford +C prospect " trade idea threads out of the clubhouse.
  9. Gagne > Michael Young I-roid and his .296 OBP?
  10. I recall the huge story last year (?) about the Braves having to move Andruw Jones before August 1st because that is when his 10/5 would kick in. Which is it?
  11. Zambrano says he would like to play for the Sox if the Cubs dont re-sign him because he's a Sox fan and grew up watching Ozzie Guillen. It was in the Cubune during the last Cubs-Sox series.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Umm could you be a bit more specific so we can explain to you why it worked. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=660177&type=news There you go. I hope I never see a "you can't trade him because he's on the DL" post again, unless there was some kind of rule change since 2000.
  13. Would a couch potato please tell me the name of that 6 CD set of classical music for $29.95? I've seen the infomercials on it on Comedy Central. I want to get it for my mom.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 07:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Umm since as long as I've been watching baseball. I don't remember the era where you could trade a guy on the DL. So if I provide one example will everybody please STHU about it? It happened in the year 2000, and involved a Chicago team.
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lincecum has 9 strikeouts in 4 innings. He might be good, that's all I'm saying. Ha. I benched him because I didn't want to risk my ERA and WHIP lead, and I needed 18 K's to catch up to the person who starts about 10 different starters a week.
  16. Holy crap. Two series wins in a row! Too bad it came at the end of our stretch of sub .500 teams
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> as crazy as this may sound, i think if we can get our hands on a quality setup man, Dye Gets healthy, and we can trade for a power hitting left or center fielder. I think we still have a shot at this division.....I know im really pushing it We're one of the bottom feeders of the AL. Let's wait until we get to .500 before we have any of this talk. Any thoughts on Riske? I still think we should've offered him arbitration even if the picks weren't going to turn into Scott Boras clients.
  18. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't trade someone on the DL. Since when?
  19. What's the difference in Jermaine's trade value if he's on the DL or if he's being held out of the lineup because he's hurting?
  20. I thought Ozzie was going to have Konerko wear the "captain" patch. I want to see it.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which charity is getting more money this year White Sox charities or Pods? I'm sure he's a nice guy, but how can you count on him to stay healthy? Of course, KW knows better than anyone. I saw some people suggesting to sign him to an incentive laden deal as if that's going to make him healthier. Cub fans said the exact same thing with Wood, the Cubs gave Wood an incentive laden deal and he still hasn't thrown a pitch for them.
  22. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What leadoff type FA didn't the Sox sign because he was demanding a NTC? Way to go, Josh! You think Ichiro is going to ask for a NTC this offseason?
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Strained left rib muscle for Barbaro. Once again, thanks KW! Blame the market. When the Sox don't sign any free agents because they are demanding NTCs, blame the market.
  24. I like Guinness, but there are much better stouts and porters out there. I've been sucking this down for the past 3 months or so:
  25. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 03:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Barry Bonds is the greatest player ever. Yes, I said it. I don't care if he cheated. EVERYBODY, except Frank Thomas, cheated. He's, what, 44 or something? And he's still dominating. Babe Ruth was better.
