  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) And you were holding back so well..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Should we bait him with Kelly Shoppach? Ramirez, Marte, and Kelly are all gone. Which prospects are Red Sox fans going to overrate now?
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Thome and Vazquez validate your points about Williams' 'win now' approach. I never expected him to trade Contreras for anything less than a top prospect, or another bullpen arm capable of immediately contributing. With our luck in avoiding injuries, and the WBC just beyond the horizon, Williams' decision may prove to be correct. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wouldn't you also say that the Thome and Vazquez trades are trades planned for the future as well because we control them for at least 3 seasons?
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 03:33 AM) Awaits R&W proclaiming Marte as an overrated prospect who wasn't going to pan out anyway. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I really got a laugh from Red Sox fans defending the paying $23 million for Renteria's s***ty season because Marte was worth it. :sleep
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Before Barry Bonds had 73 homeruns in a season, no one had done that either. HUH? QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) That question has nothing to do with Youkilis. It has to do with the concept of low BA, but high OBP compared to high BA, but low OBP. I'm curious as to which he would take. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What the hell does that have to do with this subject? Didn't you say Boston shouldn't go after DLee because of Youkilis? Why did you even bring up this topic. Derrek does not have the profile of a guy who has a high BA but low OBP.
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) Youkilis isn't a stiff however. If your evidence that he's a stiff is that he hits .260 and has more K than BB, then something is wrong with you. And you still haven't answered my question: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Felix, I have already shown you that there were no .260 BA, .400+ OBP in the league last season. What's is the point in mentioning the ".300 BA, .330 OBP." We're comparing Youk to Teixera, Fielder, Howard, and Derrek Lee.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) ok and why dont you name those players that hit in the .260's and tell us how good they are that dont hit for much power. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Brandon Inge (.330 OBP,) Aubrey Huff (had a bad year,) Jeromy Burnitz (.323 OBP,) Orlando Cabrera, Jack Wilson, Craig Counsell (.350 OBP,) Jeremy Reed (yes, the future HOF we gave up. ) Gregg Zaun, and David Dellucci. Those guys listed had low BA's, SLG % below .450 (with the exception of Dellucci. I just threw his name in their because he plays with the Rangers and it may have been a fluke year for him) and I would probably only Dellucci and maybe Counsell based on their 2005 numbers. I couldn't find any non-power hitting, .260 batters with .400+ OBP however.
  7. Thank God. I suppose the Score didn't want to hear him kissing Patterson's ass while he's in Baltimore.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) Why don't they just put on the Herd? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That prick can go f*** himself.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) Is this a joke? Please, look at the players in the MLB that strikeout more than they walk. It will be a list of hundreds of players including Michael Young, Alex Rodriguez, Derrek Lee, Miguel Cabrera, Paul Konerko, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, and Mark Teixeira (and many, many more). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How many of those guys having a batting average of .260? How many of those guys are sluggers? Sluggers tend to walk more because pitchers fear them and strikeout more because they are swinging for the fences.
  10. If Ben makes this team he better be willing to SWING the bat when he comes off the bench. I noticed some Cub fans still remember when he came up to bat in the 9th with two outs and struck out without removing the bat off his shoulder. He also pissed off Lou in TB making a comment along the lines of "It doesn't really matter" when striking out looking in the 9th.
  11. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Why did the Phillies trade Jim Thome? Why did the Brewers trade Lyle Overbay? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because Ryan Howard won ROY playing a little more than half the season. Because Lyle Overbay was hitting arbitration and Prince Fielder (how do his minor league numbers compare to Youk's and how many years has Youk been in the MLB?) was ready for the big show. OF course the Red Sox and White Sox are not in the same situation (Development of players and comparing the division they play in) as the Brew Crew so the Brewers can afford to give a rookie a chance to play first. Prince Fielder > Kevin Youk Ryan Howard > Kevin Youk Bad examples.
  12. If Willie Harris is the starting CF for the Wrong Sox, then Manny should start working on cutting the ball off from the center fielder again.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,181462,00.html 58% of Americans according to a poll believe the President should have the authority to authorize wiretaps without a warrant against terror suspects. So there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow! That's almost half!
  14. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) Dont know bout anyone else but damn this looks like a THREE-PEAT type lineup Chicago White Sox No. Player Position 1. Scott Podsednik LF 2. Tadahito Iguchi 2B 3. Paul Konerko 1B 4. Jim Thome DH 5. Jermaine Dye RF 6. A.J. Pierzynski C 7. Joe Crede 3B 8. Juan Uribe SS 9. Brian Anderson CF <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fixed your post considering all these guys are under control until 2007. B)
  15. QUOTE(farmteam @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Yeah, I was wondering abouy the rushing the floor thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They must be Sox fans with tattoos QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) im laughing pretty hard at all the Illini fans wondering about the floor rush.. dear Illinois........ you suck <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm going to remember this when 2/19/06 rolls around.
  16. Honeslty, I'm just looking forward to the "most likely to get flamed" category.

  18. QUOTE(gosox41 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) I was waiting for someone to say that. We rip Prior now for being injury prone though most of us see the talent and how good he could be. But what makes anyone think he'd all of the sudden be healthy with the Sox? Bob <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I believe the Sox as a team have used the least amount of DL days for the last 10 or 15 years. I forgot where I saw that though. The Sox had Herm whereas the Cubs had some cheap unlicensed trainers taking care of their pitchers.
  19. I just heard an audio clip on YTMND of him backtracking saying something along the lines of "How do you make chocolate? With dark chocolate and white milk. That was the chocolate treat I was referring to." :rolly
  20. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Just trying to figure out how a guy with 'Electric Stuff' can be 89-93 life time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How about the fact that he came up with the Expos, and played for a team that finished second in the 2005 NL West? :puke
