  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) what econ? i'm currently in the 200 level ones, have to take econ 302 next semester, which i heard is a b****. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Econ 302. For some reason it's a technical elective in the college of engineering. I had Silve Parathman (sp?) and it was less economic principles, and solving more calc problems (easy for engineers.) I know other engineers in different sections with different professors, and their test formats were 20 multiple choice questions, and a few short answers. My class was 4 or 5 computational problems with multiple parts. I thought it was insanely boring, but pretty easy.
  2. Yeah, but I just got done flying through my 300 level ECON class, and I didn't think it was that bad.
  3. I've been doing pretty well so far, and no offesne guys, but none of your classes sound difficult (except 3E8)
  4. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) I found this interesting quote from the Sox management in an article about judging player value in the New York Times Interesting stuff. I think the "different popular method" used to determine victories is : Pythagorean Winning Percentage RF^2 ------------- RF^2 + RA^2 # RF = runs scored; RA = runs allowed. I'm not a huge proponent of this formula because I think it misjudges how "good" teams find ways to win close games that hasn't yet been determined from statistical analysis and probably never will. The confidence the Sox had in late innings and the calm hand of Ozzie (mostly) helped the White Sox outperform their pythagorean by 8 games. Still, I'm glad that KW is thinking analytically as well as traditionally about player aquisitions. Personally, I predict Thome and BA will be worth more like 30 more runs than Frank and Rowand. I don't have any stats to back that up though! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So is Hahn assuming that the Sox will give up teh exact same number of runs or less? Those 15 runs don't mean jack if the pitching staff gives up 10 more runs in 2006 than 2005.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) a completely uninformed commentary. If Podsednik was dealt, who leads off? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lead off men are overrated to the stat sheet lovers like Dayn. Their argument has always been a leadoff hitter is only assured one at bat in which he actually leadoffs an inning. Therefore you should go with a guy with a higher OPS like Matt Stairs. (Yes those losers made that actual argument.)
  6. Finished up the 30+ page group paper last night. Exams Monday afternoon, Tuesday night, Wednesday afternoon, then I drink until graduation on Sunday.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Why? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Red Sox need a LHP.
  8. I'd rather see a report saying Baltimore is shopping him before suggesting any trade idea.
  9. Since when did KW trade Mike Cameron for Paul Konerko
  10. Why not just sign a s***ty left handed starter?
  11. How terrible will Sori's numbers be next season playing at RFK?
  12. Rats. I had the Rangers as part of a 7 team parlay.
  13. -I always thought Wickman looked like a family member of Bam Margera's.
  14. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Just remember last year they had Percival, Urbina, and Farnsworth. Last Year's Tigers Pen > This Year's Tigers Pen <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Last March I said the Tigers had the most overrated bullpen in the leauge. edit:
  15. I noticed how different it was whenI was out at the bar in the San Diego, and as a non-smoker, I really enjoy not smelling like "the bar" after going out.
  16. Isn't Mitre out of option, which means unless he makes the team out of spring training teams can have him for nothing? His career numbers suck too, same with Wellemeyer (I think he's out of options too.)

    QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) Can I ask why you would get a WS patch on a Thome Jersey? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not the 2005 World Series patch, a patch for the championship. I'm sure they'll release something different for 2006.

    My next jersey will be a SOX jersey with THOME on the back and a 2005 world champions patch on the sleeve. B)
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Here is a preview of the spot: Cubs, Cubs Cubs, Red Sox Red Sox, Manny, Manny, Damon, Yankees, mets. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You forgot Bonds and his 40 pound head. Who wants to bet Peter Gammons' most important thing for this upcoming season is Griffey coming back from injuries and proving himself? Peter never changes it.
  20. How is LoDuca overrated? I never hear about him. So does this officially make the Dodgers-Marlins trade of 2004 the most pointless trade in the history of baseball?
