QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) That is your response to everything bartman, and also shouldnt be in green because he would easily be starting, but the trade wont happen and i dont want an injury prone pitcher. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Injury prone from what? Line drives and second basemen on the base paths?

Steven Seagal. BTW Nuke, that avatar of yours makes me think Flasoxxjim suddenly went ultra conservative.

QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) he plays for the cubs do you expect him to say "ya our crosstown rival who all our fans hate has a better rotation than us , we suck." he just wants to make a good impression on his new team <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How about he talks about his team only and not insult the World f***ing Champions in the other league?
-
White Sox = Chicago's only champions.
-
Hmm, I had this strange feeling in me they would f*** up the extra point.
-
I don't get it. Carolina just used a challenge early in the 4th just for a shot to keep the Bears from getting a touchdown and settling for a FG? EDIT: That was pointless.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) Barrett's strength is in the handling of the pitching staff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Barrett is not a good game caller, an even worse defender, and he is the reason why the Cubs signed Blanco last offseason. Both Maddux and Prior don't like pitching to him (you should see Prior's splits when Blanco catches him.) Barrett has a good bat, but also has an iron mitt.

Josh, please keep bashing Rex. I think he's listening.

Mike Sweeney recalls being offered steroids
santo=dorf replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) That's really not a horrible argument though. Do you really think Giambi would have been any worse than Timo off the bench? .218 AVG, .266 OBP, .296 SLG, .562 OPS Even a washed-up ex-roider could top those numbers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who gives a rat's ass what would have happened? We won the World Series with Timo last year, and Giambi didn't do jack for the Knights. I don't care if Giambi would've had more walks than Timo at the major league level last season because; 1. We won the World Series even with Timo's lack of talent 2. This isn't a roto league so I don't care about individual's performances as long as we are winning 3. The backlash of the Sox having an admitted roider on the bench wouldn't be worth the extra 10 walks Jeremy might breing to the table. -

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Jeremy Giambi was a pretty bad player for a guy who took steroids Mike Sweeneys however is a good player and a good guy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You should have seen some of the spin the defenders of this roider were using when we signed him. Look at his career OBP!! We shoud give him a spot over Timo!" -
QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) 2004 Home: .314/.451/.552 13 hr Away: .290/.495/.535 17 hr 2003 H: .349/.464/.544 11 hr A: .253/.355/.395 9 hr 2002 H:.284/.413/.467 8 hr A: .327/.413/.565 12 hr 2001 H: .261/.394/.509 13 hr A: .315/.393/.574 18 hr Career H: .310/.430/.532 100 hr A: .296/.393/..492 90 hr There's not THAT big of a difference. Let's not get caught up looking at ONE year of a veteran player's career. Some Sox fans were eager to point out Furcal's horrid day game stats of last year when it appeared as if the Cubs were about to sign him, when in actuality it was hardly a career trend. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's inconsistent!!!

Regardless of what happens with Manny, R&W will put a positive spin on it.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) Again for the 10th time, I am following along with Ken Williams, I am not pretending I am GM of the team (like you do) and rationalize what's best based on statistics. You still fail to answer why the White Sox would trade cost certain starting pitching for an expensive RF, when they have the RF of the future in the minors, and in addition, why do you think they went out and traded for Javier Vazquez? Go ahead, see if you can string two and two together and figure that out. Maybe you and all the others on your SS Welcome Aboard can put your heads together, play fantasy baseball with your Sabr stats, and come up with an answer. Did you MISS the part where Ken Williams said he'd like to bring McCarthy along slowly, let him gain some bulk, and have an insurance policy in case a starter goes down? Did you MISS the part where Ken Williams said if he moves Contreras, it will be for pitching? Did you MISS the part where the entire cornerstone of your argument about Contreras is based on your personal feelings and projections? And your comparisons of him to Roger Clemons? Did you MISS the part where Vazquez averages 200 innings per year, he is a workhorse, and that's why they traded for him? Yeah, I guess you DID miss all those things. Somehow, it's not surprising to me. Maybe I should respond to the two dozen or so posters who fail to see the logic in your ramblings with a hearty "welcome aboard"? And then go back and bump a bunch of threads? whitesox.com message board is calling you ... loudly. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This wouldn't have been an issue if we just signed Brian Giles.

Great. A SABR hijack. :rolly BTW, it's "Vazquez."

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) I think that Patterson is really overrated and probably won't ever pan out but even though his good 2003 was only half a season, his full 2004 season was pretty good... Corey Patterson (2004 stats) .266 AVG .320 OBP .452 SLG .772 OPS 24 HR 72 RBI 32 SB He also plays good defense. I would have taken that offensive production over Rowand's 2005 production. I also would hope that Anderson could produce like that offensively in 2006. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A .266 AVG and .320 OBP is "pretty good?" Especially for a leadoff hitter??? I don't know about that. Patterson was atrocious as a lead off man (he didn't get on base and struck out a ton, thus not being able to use his speed) and Rowand was very dissapointing in 2005, but I still don't see that big of a difference in numbers. I'd be thrilled if Anderson put up those numbers too because he is a rookie and doesn't have the hype like Patterson did (3 pick of the draft, future Lou Brock, yadda yadda yadda.)
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) The difference is that Patterson was actually fairly good for a season and a half. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Really? I only remember one good month. His 2003 season (Cub fans call it a "breakout," but call Garland's 2005 a "fluke." :rolly ) April: .277/.310/.479/.789 May: .333/.345 (he drew 2 walks)/.565/.910 June: .269/.319/.452/.771 July: .235/.278/.294/.572 The guy has always f***ing sucked. Stupid Cub fans have claimed Patterson is better than Rowand, and guys like 2005 Garland, 2005 Cotts, 2005 Buehrle, 2005 Politte all have fluke years whereas Patterson was gettting ready to "break out." :rolly Good riddance to this overrated bum. I never want to hear about his overrated ass again.

Personal awards? Sox could care less
santo=dorf replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Son of a b****. I hate it when they get it wrong. If they could care less, why don't they? The title implies they care, but the story says otherwise. Now I know why they are hiring a new writer for the Sox. -
What's also insanse about BA's two homers off of King Felix is the fact that even though his K/9 is close to 9, his groundball to flyball ratio was 3.12 last season.

QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Finally, I have longed to see a home game be broadcast. I hope the next owner of the Hawks wises up and puts all of the games on T.V. Wirtz has a son who is going to take over right? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Serious question; Why would you want to watch the current product?

Can you change my title to "Millionth Post Man?" B) I know, I know. :rolly
