Pennies? He signed a 4 year $45 million deal when he was traded to the Yanks.
-
Make it 15 years and we're the only team that hasn't had a top ten pick in that time.
-
Ozzie hates Willie. All of that speed he has yet he can't steal a base.
-
Vlad also carried the Angels from April-June. He had to make up for the losses of Glaus, Anderson, and Tim Salmon. Konerko also got 7 points.

He got busted for cocaine use? -
I thought your source said we were in trade talks to get Turk Wendell? I don't think he'd be able to afford Henderson if we acquired Turk. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25925 :dips***

Who would you rather have as starting 1B-man?

Why the hell would Baltimore want a guy who can't beat the Red Sox, and would probably s*** his pants in Yankee stadium against the Bronx Bombers? I think Jose will do well for the Sox next season.
-
Guillen won't be there, but Anderson, Beltran, and Vlad is amazing.

I also like the fact that Gload is a lefty. How many DP's has he grounded into? -
You missed the point on Orlando and Jose. It was in a f***ing thread about OMAR. You must not have read my previous post, or you have a short term memory, because I said I felt that the organization would only raise payroll for someone of the caliber of Randy Johnson. SCHILLING WILL NOT PLAY FOR A REINSDORF OWNED TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How do you know KW didn't want David Ortiz? Maybe that was a reason why he invoked Frank Thomas' diminished skills clause back in 2002. IIRC, Reinsdorf was the one who wanted Frank back and cleaned up that whole mess. Jealousy of what? The Fact that the White Sox don't have $140 million payroll? The fact that we don't have a curse to blame our lack of sucess on? Your team spent $140 million, f***ed up the A-Rod trade, and cried for a salary cap when the Yankees landed him. Just shut up already. You don't know s*** about the White Sox organization as evident by thinking there is a remote chance of Schilling playing on the South Side, and suggesting that the Sox go oyut and sign some pitchers even though the team hasn't sign a big name free agent since 1996, and the owner doesn't like giving out long term deals to pitchers. I done arguing with a Red Sox fan trying to be a fan of the White Sox too. God, where's the ignore feature when you need it? I guess I'll just have to scroll down faster.

Urbina had his option picked up, as did Eddie (who is rehabbing.) Williamson is probably going under the knife and will not pitch for 2005. Hasegawa is interesting, but he just came off a horrible year in which one of our crappy minor leaguers could duplicate at a fraction of the price.

How many of those guys were young pitchers in the Sox organization that took the next step up? I don't recall seeing any big FA signings in that bullpen.
-
I didn't post that outing to show you his domination of the AL Central, I already posted his career numbers, and that wasn't good enough for you. It seemed to me that you were looking for numbers to show Randy pitching well against the AL Central recently. I think your Red Sox bias is annoying, plain and simple. It seems that in every long thread you post in, a post like "This guy on the Red Sox is better than this guy," comes up. Go look at the Omar Vizquel where you argue Orlando Cabrera's defense against Jose Valentin's. You want the White Sox to operate like the Red Sox by just signing a FA starter, and a bullpen guy. You showed how clueless you were about the organization in one thread were you said "KW could've traded for Schilling, or signed David Ortiz," despite the fact that Schilling HATES JR, and at the time of the Ortiz signing, we locked up Paul Konerko, and JR was bringing back Frank Thomas after the "diminished skills clause" fiasco. We aren't the Red Sox, we can't just buy guys off the market, When will you realize this?
-
Yup. I sure am. You haven't offered any solutions to our bullpen. You just b****. I wouldn't mind seeing a bullpen of: Diaz Munoz Politte Marte Shingo Cotts Adkins or some crappy fail starters As long as Randy Johnson is in the starting rotation. I don't believe we should shell out big bucks for a guy who will give us only 60 innings a year. I'm expecting some of these guys to step it up for next year. I asked you once before, and I'll ask again. What did the Sox's bullpen look like in 2000?
-
You're right, he's actually put up much better numbers since 1999. Did you see his outing against the Twins last year? 9IP, 5H, 1 ER, 10 K's. But I'm sure a Red Sox fan could care less about his outing against the Twins last year.
-
I wouldn't worry about bullpen depth so much when you have Buehrle and Johnson going 7-8 strong a majority of their outings.
-
With the exception of Detroit, Randy Johnson has dominated the AL Central teams. I don't think those kids in Detroit want to see a 98MPH fastball or his killer slider.
-
2004 quality starts: Johnson: 26 Buehrle: 23 Garcia: 18 Garland:14 Contreras: 13 Diaz: 2 (didn't pitch entire season) My rotation has us with 82 QS despite the limited time Diaz has pitched. Your rotation would need 14 starts from a free agent to match that. Odalis Perez: 21 (my choice if we don't get RJ) Russ Ortiz: 20 Eric Milton: 18 I think the reason why these guys have more or as many quality starts as Garcia, Contreras, and Garland is due to USCF. 6 IP and 3 ER was a tought task at USCF in 2004.
-
Who's your free agent?
-
Actually, he needs one more. It's "Vizquel." Roberto Hernandez? COME ON!!!!!!!
-
Wite, getting RJ improves the overall rotation more than just signing a Free agent. Which group is more likely to give you more quality starts? Johnson, Buehrle, Garcia, Contreras, Diaz/Grilli/ST invitee or Buehrle, Garcia, FA signing, Contreras, Garland? Basically it's a case of Johnson vs. Garland and a FA that you actually think the Sox will try and sign.
-
Not if I have Frank Thomas on my team. If I didn't have a DH, I would sign I-Rod. I really don't see what the big deal is with Kendall. His contract is HUGE.

It's Roger Clemens vs. Randy Johnson, with apologies to Roy Oswalt and Ben Sheets, to be announced today. Rocket is going for his 7th Cy Young; the Unit is trying to match him at 6: Roger Randy W-L 18-4 16-14 ERA 2.98 2.60 IP 214.1 245.2 H 169 177 BB 79 44 SO 218 290 Clemens, of course, had greater run support; Johnson was 13-2 when Arizona scored more than 2 runs. Johnson's 8.10 hits+walks per nine innings was the best in the NL since Greg Maddux in 1995. Johnson also had 31 more innings pitched. On the other hand, Clemens pitched in a pennant race; Houston won his last nine starts. The vote: Clemens wins. The Quickie vote: The Big Unit. He would have won 20+ playing with Houston.
