Frank Thomas
Even funnier is how Thome should be a platoon DH: Thome's splits: vs. RHP: .314/.456/.624 in 314 PA's vs. LHP: .192/.307/.331 in 150 PA's Thomas' splits: vs. RHP: .245/.348/.407 in 425 PA's vs. LHP: .333/.438/.611 in 129 PA's If Thome is considered a "platoon" DH, than Frank should be considered as the other, lesser part of that platoon.

WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
If we don't establish it and drill it into people's heads, they're going to ask why we don't draft someone like Felix Hernandez. I still see the occasional "let's trade the top pick instead" post.

WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
Of the 50 players the Twins drafted in 2001, only one has ever seen major league action.

WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
Really? The White Sox can take players who do not live in Canada, The United States, or other US territories? There has been really only one bad #2 pick since 1997, and ironically it was by the Twins. #3 pick? Eww, don't ask. #4 picks include Billy Koch, Gavin Floyd, Jason Grilli, and Kerry Wood. #5? Not very good either. Surprised to see John Patterson was drafted 11 years ago #6 Loads of hype in recent years including Grienke, Sowers, and Baldelli, but no good picks since 1992. You can waste a lot of time at baseball reference. Judging by the last 10 years, I'd rather pick second.

Kanye West pulls race card out his ass again
What were you talking about "early" pink floyd? The samples of the songs don't start at the beginning of the song. Listen to the samples at amazon.com and tell me what's different from when you actually listen to the full song. If it has a good melody, I'll give it a chance.

Kanye West pulls race card out his ass again
I listened to the samples of 50's new CD on amazon.com, and with the exception of one song, it sounds like crap.

What are issues you are concerned with most?
1. Taxes 2. Getting out of Iraq 3. Getting out of Iran. Hey, I wouldn't put anything past Bush while his days are numbered.

What will it take to keep Gonzalez away from this franchise, a deportation?

Why was this necessary? How could this be "buying low" if we don't even know how much he signed for?

I know he has a two rbi single, but why are the Sox so scared of Hafner? His OPS against the Sox coming into this game was almost as low as Jerry Owens' season OPS.

Yes, Gonzalez's numbers look good, and I'm not slamming him even if it's been 7 years since he was drafted, but he was traded twice for relievers. My point was how it is possible to acquire "#1 talent" without having the #1 pick. Mauer is a very special player, but he's only surpassed those career numbers once. It is inflated by his great 2006. His health is a serious concern but he is very good. Saying "should improve his other stats" doesn't really say much to me because I think everyone can agree Brian Anderson "should improve his stats" when he is given playing time. I've already stated how young (no pun for Delmon) they are. I don't care about his BA, as his OBP is only .325 and his OPS is .744. Not bad for a first year player, but he is a serious headcase.- SS preference for 2008
Blue Jays agreed to terms with shortstop John McDonald on a two-year, $3.8 million contract. McDonald is the same player he's always been, but no one has felt the need to sign him to a multiyear deal until he was two weeks shy of his 33rd birthday. The Providence College product is batting .252/.276/.332 in a career-high 286 at-bats this season. He remains a Gold Glove-caliber defender, even though he doesn't have as much range as he once did, but his glove alone doesn't make him a quality regular. The Jays should still be looking for someone to start over him next year. However, it doesn't figure to be their top priority.- White Sox V Cleveland
Let's see: 2000: Has been traded for relievers, twice. So apparently isn't that difficult to acquire #1 pick talent. 2001: Great talent, can't stay healthy. 2002: Who? 2003: Headcase, home run total is small, OBP issues despite a nice BA, took 3 years to develop in a loser oganization. Still young 2004: Flopped completely as a SS, won't pitch until 2009. 2005: young 2006: too early 2007: Too early I'm not exactly impressed with the numbers 1 so easily. I want the Sox to start winning again in less than 3 years.- 2007 Post ASB MLB Catch-All Thread

Observer saying he quit too. I take it Sharmell is gone then too. From Rajah: Ric Flair was on local sports talk show "Prime Time with The Packman" this past Friday on WFNZ in Charlotte. He said he is in the process of opening a new business in Charlotte called 'Ric Flair Finance'. Flair, who had called in to discuss a recent college football win by Appalachian State, was asked about whether he had quit the company and responded, "It's not true. What would WWE do without me?" and began laughing. He promised he would discuss the WWE situation later this week when he would be in studio as a co-host for the show. There have been some disagreements between Flair and WWE over how he's been presented by the company, but the two sides have been speaking amicably towards a resolution. Flair is still under contract to WWE.- Official NFL Thread
Look for the Sox to sign Brown and have him "compete" with Brian Anderson for the CF spot next spring.- Films Thread
I had no idea about this movie and saw it after reading some of the reviews on rotten tomatoes. I was laughing at all the action movie cliches. Smokin' Aces was a horrible movie as that wasn't funny at all, and I had no idea if it was supposed to be a comedy, a thriller, a drama, or an action movie. Shoot 'Em Up was all about the cliches.- SS preference for 2008
