  1. ...and that's where Soxbadger needs to stop thinking like a lawyer and more of a baseball fan/HOF voter.
  2. You're talking about an organziation that signed Jaret Wright after he failed an intial physical. I think the Yankees see Crede as a stop gap for 3B and need to dump one of their high priced OF's.
  3. I was strongly supporting the idea of non-tendering Crede, however the A-Rod situation along with Mike Lowell looking for a big payday have changed my mind. I still think he shouldn't be part of this ball club for 2008.
  4. Great post. I completely forgot about how Ozzie said Brian's offense didn't matter and it was all about his defense.
  5. Just because the guy used to be a starter doesn't mean he's automatically a good benh option. There are guys who need to play everyday to keep their swing in line and focus on baseball or to stay in shape. There are DH's who prefer to play first base because it keeps their head in the game. In every full season of play, he's been at best average in fielding percentage for catchers. And YES, fielding percentage is a fair metric to use for catchers because it pretty much consists of throwing the ball. http://www.baseball-reference.com/h/hallto02.shtml
  6. Toby Hall was a below average starting catcher, and he does not have the characteristics to be a typical back-up catcher. He isn't good defensively, can't throw guys out, and doesn't handle pitchers well.
  7. Free agent Glendon Rusch, who sat out 2007 following the diagnosis of a blood clot in his lung, threw for teams on Friday. Scouts from the Twins, Padres, Astros, Royals, Mariners, White Sox, Marlins, Athletics, Reds and Rockies were in attendence to watch Rusch throw about 60 pitches and top out at 86-87 mph. He'll probably throw for scouts one more time before he considers signing a contract for 2008. It's possible he'll get a guaranteed one-year deal.
  8. If those guys are going to hit so many homers, then why do the guys around them have to be fast? They can walk around the bases ala Victor Martinez. I'd rather focus on OBP.
  9. That's too bad. I wanted him as our back up before last year. Well we bought low, so it wouldn't be that much of a loss. There's a lot of garbage that needs to be thrown out from last year. If he's not getting surgery, he must be healthy. If he didn't get surgery late last year, he must have been healthy, and he SUCKED.
  10. Hopefully Posada goes to the Mets so we can dump Hall on them as well.
  11. "Jean, don't wear that outfit again."
  12. Here's a chart of Mike Lowell's extra base hits at Fenway. It's no wonder why his home/road splits were freakish.
  13. We won't be around. Look at the strides civilization has made since the Earth started heating up. The end isn't near.
  14. It'd basically be a salary swap, or did KW learn the lesson of building the BP by the radar gun?
  15. What about KW going after "The Farns" again?
  16. What can I say? My papers in college had to be under 5 pages. Keep things short and to the point. I was talking to a soon to be graduate at U of I this past weekend and she was telling me about her journalism degree and how the good jobs pay $17,000 a year. This topic made me think of that conversation and I have a feeling that these particular jobs aren't worth anything due to the time required to work and the crappy pay. ^
  17. I couldn't stand watching "An Inconvient truth." It was obnoxious to see Gore stroke his ego so much. What's so riveting about showing pictures of glaciers 20 years ago and now?
  18. I was going to say if Brooks Robinson is Joe Crede, than the modern day Ron Santo must be Brandon Inge.
  19. After Anderson's recent comments it'll put A-Rod's next contract to shame.
  20. I can't believe how similar Hall's career line is to Neifi Perez's.
