  1. As long as we're not tossing in cash with Uribe, I'd probably be down. I didn't realize most of Baldelli contract was based on escalator clauses which weren't met to his chronic injuries.
  2. ...and just how much of that 2005 WS team is left over greg? Baseball changes so much from year to year. This isn't the NBA from 1970-1988 or whatever
  3. I hope so. The further that overrated ego-maniac is from USCF the better.
  4. I think it's already happened, and then some.
  5. Makes you wonder if Braun was playing for the Sox making all those errors if Ozzie would bench him or convince KW he wasn't a good fit for the team.
  6. Only if the Sox have the highest offer.
  7. I didn't realize Thome wasn't productive. Maybe Frank Thomas should be platoon partner? Thomas vs. LHP: 122 at-bats .336/.431/.631 Thomas vs. RHP: 409 at-bats .259/.360/.435 Who should the Blue Jays get to play DH when a right hander pitches? (that's like 75% of the time)
  8. Not that I disagree, but when reporters ask questions like this about feloow teammates, is there really any other answer? Can we still get Miguel? Any chance Kenny Lands Melky for center of we lose out on Hunter? I wonder if KW is still interested in Daniel Cabrera.
  9. Why would we want that overrated (the next DiMaggio ,) overpaid, crippled junk?
  10. This team is in a huge mess right now, but by March Ozzie will have his team full of free swinging hackers who make a lot of outs.
  11. Holliday should've won it then. Look at his and Colorado's Septembers.
  12. Which ranked him fifth on his team. That slugging is being wasted in that spot, just like Soriano. Rollins' raw numbers like the number of doubles, HR, triples aren't THAT impressive to me because he had over 700 at-bats. If his lineup is giving so many opportunities to bat, how is he so valuable to the team? Holliday's road/home splits are ridiculous, but Colorado was just on fire in September when he put up a .367/.448/.796! line.
  13. I feel the trade winds blowing....... Patterson has power. Do you honestly think Owens will ever put up double digit home runs? He had a hard enough time getting doubles.
  14. ...and Soriano 3rd. I wonder if it was Phil Rogers. For a leadoff man Rollins' OBP isn't very spectacular.
  15. Actually, it was a year ago. You can't just go by those two numbers, but a higher OBP means less out making and more opportunities to score runs. Oh yeah. I FOUND IT! http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54780 I knew it was Keith, and I knew the quote was along the lines of "not getting it." Remember now?
  16. They sure seem to want to get rid of him don't they? It's the first thing you said in your original post. Juan Pierre, What would it take to land him? 2004 JUAN PIERRE 2005 ...and there's a 2006 thread I can't find at the moment where CWSguy406 and I kept shooting down your "he gets on base a lot because he hits .290" theory by continually pointing out his OBP. I remember you ending it with, "I don't get it."
  17. Ah, they obviously must be the "things we don't know about Masset" KW talked about when he acquired him.
  18. What are the odds of the 0-14 Dolphins beating the 14-0 Pats on 12/23?
  19. It's not about the contract, it's how you view Pierre as a major league baseball player
  20. It's Deja Vu. I feel like bumping the thread beck made last year because you made the exact same arguments. :lol
  21. Just curious, how did you go from "having a feeling" to knowing the deal is done? A simple phone call?
  22. Why couldn't this trade have been made BEFORE the Sox were dealing with Uribe's contract? Is it going to be easier to dump Uribe at this point than it would've been to acquire Cabrera after declining Uribe's option?
  23. Why would that matter to the Sox? By July 27th, Jones would've been traded for a couple of 25 year old A-ballers.
  24. Hunter is a money whore. Remember how much he said at the all-star game how great it would be to play in SF in the steps of Willie Mays?
