Figgins available if Angels acquire 3b man
santo=dorf replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
So why would Anaheim even bother? Just to make headlines? -
Here's the originally thread. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...5969&st=100 Here are the only possibly negative posts I can find from the threads (in regards to Hall.)

Yes, let's sell low on Konerko and buy high on Kotchman. Has Jim Hendry been holding GM seminars or something? -
His career numbers are terrible, he strikes out a ton, makes lots of throwing errors, and he's owed a ton of money. Career stats against the Sox: .233/.278/.369 Yep, that's terrible.

Man shoots burglars while on phone with cops
santo=dorf replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in The Filibuster
So what happens when a "git off my lan-duh" types mistakely blasts his neighbor's hired scabs moving furniture out of the house? A little far-fetched? Perhaps, but it that tragic situation happened people wouldn't have the viewpoint that people are using to defend this moron's actions. -

Keep defending a murderer. I see SSI71 posted a link where he was quoted as getting ready to kill them. Send his ass to the chair. This guy is worse than a drunk driver. He had the balls to tell an operator he was going to shoot to kill, was instructed to stay in his house, and he didn't listen. HE BROKE THE LAW. BOTH THOSE GUYS ARE MORONS WHO BROKE THE LAW. There's no analogy to it. -

Why is the WWE waiting so long to invite people to their big show? I read Paul Bearer said he can't make it because he already has prior committments. -
Supposedly he had laser eye surgery and got some knew contacts, however that doesn't explain his SLG% dropping 80-100 points over the past two seasons.

There's a pretty nice 51 year old I know, unfortunately he made the mistake of drinking too much and driving. He blew barely over the limit, but because of his "mistake," the bumbling wino he hit with his car is now dead. If he is convicted, under current laws he will have to got to prison for I believe a minimum of 5 years. I bet you want to give him a slap on the wrist as well. Of course the guy I know didn't mean to harm the guy compared to this guy who knew he wanted to shoot and harm them (don't know he was trying to kill them.) Limits must be set and laws are written. Send both the killers to prison. -
My dad is getting one of these for Christmas:

2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
santo=dorf replied to kapkomet's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm going to put it here just so it gets more attention, but the Iowa-Iowa St. game tonight was really entertaining. Iowa scored first but ended up losing 8-1. With almost a minute left to play, and Iwoa State player completely laid out the goalie (behind the net) which resulted in an Iowa defender pushing him from behind up against the goal. While the goalie was out, my friend for Iowa St. jumped in to break it up but got caught in a headlock by the original pissed off Iowa player. Well he picked him up and reserved suplexed him on the ice and threw some punches. So those three were thrown out, and that was after another Iowa and Iowa St. player were thrown out for fighting much earlier in the third period. I must said I can't stand the NHL, but college hockey is pretty entertaining. -

Burglary is not justified with capital punishment. He made a mistake as he broke the law killing two human beings who happened to be crooks. We have a legal system for a reason. People are not, and should not be allowed to be their own judge, jury and executioner. He is a killer who risked his own life with the criminals and unmarked police officers. -
Because their GM's didn't come out to the presses talking about catching a "big fish" or sending text messages to free agents that said "you're next."

Hey that's nice, but this vigilante should still be prosecuted for murder charges. -
yes, because OBP does two things: It allows for the guys behind you to create more runs, and it means you're not making out making innings last longer, giving out more RBI opportunities and making the pitcher work longer and harder. Pretty simple to understand.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes

Heroin is a pain killer. The USDA even says that alcohol withdrawl is 4 TIMES WORSE than Heroin withdrawl. How MLB players drink due to habit? -
SOX RELIEVERS: MULTI-YEAR DEALS (Linebrink)
santo=dorf replied to StatManDu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thanks! As you can see, the Sox tend to only give at least a three year committment to relievers if they are on the team and aribitration eligible. -
Yeah really. Has this just been speculation the whole time?

You clearly aren't getting my point. I don't care about age, we need results. Why can't we trade Konerko after 2008? Is really a stretch to think he won't put up better numbers and improve his trade value? You don't want to see if Kotchman will repeat or hit outside of the big A? I wasn't being serious about Anderson either (although he would be an upgrade over Owens) but I really can't see Kotchman saving 20 runs especially if Orlando Cabrera is as good defensively and a infield leader as management is kissing him up to be. Having $11 million would help this club, but not a "ton." The market is ridculous as players are demanding more than 3 year contracts. If the Sox needed a first baseman and signed Konerko for 3/$36 million, this board would be going crazy for joy.
-
Funny how one season make Kotchman a good OBP type of guy, yet in 2005 and 2006 Konerko had a higher OBP. 1B is a slugging position so we can't just write him off as the White Sox ranked 26th in slg% last year. I always hate the age argument because I rather just have the results. Should we start Anderson over Owens in CF no matter what just because he's young and his glove and arm will save 15-20 runs (a huge exaggeration IMO Gene) over Owens? There's a reason why guys like Cecil Fielder, Ryan Howard, Mo Vaughn, David Ortiz, and Jason Giambi play first when they are forced into the field. That's good for what, a Gil Meche or Vincente Padilla? That's hardly "a ton" when the Sox were going to give $15 million for Hunter.
