In the latest ESPN Magazine, there is an article about the Yankees, in which it is stated, Steinbrenner considers any season in which the Yankees don't compete for a World Series is a disappointing season. Sox ownership NEEDS to get that mentality. Getting to the playoffs should not be THE goal of the Chisox; winning a WS should be! Until JR realizes that he's going to have to push the payroll to $100 million to be a serious competitor, the Sox will never be one.

I am definitely in the minority here, but I would keep Valentin (not as a starter, as a platoon guy). I don't agree with you though on the smoking thing...not totally. I do think that employers should provide smokers with an area(s) wherein they can smoke, away from non-smokers, and/or those who don't want to breathe second-hand smoke.

If I were a Republican, I'd be embarassed as all Hell to have Arnold as a spokesman for my party.

This is my (humble) opinion re. abortion...If WE give the Government the power to outlaw abortions (thus taking away the right from the individual), WE are in essence giving the "G" the right to say "You have to have an abortion!" I know it's a "stretch", but once you give up a personal freedom(s), it's hard as Hell to get it back.
