I remember when the Bears fired Ditka; right before it happenned, Mariotti wrote a column about how they needed to launch "Da Coach"! Right after his firing, Mariotti wrote a column about what a bad thing it was that the Bears fired Ditka, and how they mistreated him. (Mariotti is a "windsock"!) Regardless, his columns on Reinsdorf and the Sox were 100% right on!!!

I think Stevie Ray was way overrated as a guitarist. If you (try to) compare him with blues guitarists like BB King, Buddy Guy, Luther Allison, etc., his "chops' don't stand up to theirs.

JR doesn't spend as much money on Scouting as other teams either, at least where foreign players are concerned. Whenever there is a Cuban defector, or a Japanese or Korean ballplayer that is coming to play in the States, the Sox are NEVER involved with trying to sign them! Don't tell me about Shingo either...te guy is 35 years old and cant break 85 with his "fastball"! Great signing!

The Marlins-Cubs series wasn't decided by who got "the breaks", the Cubs were out-managed in Games 6 and 7! End of story!

I'm not comparing the cubs and the Sox! All I'm saying is, you people are being too quick to annoint them Champions! The cubs haven't put 2 winning seasons together since 1972! Still, if you want to compare, catching is a "wash", slight nod to cubs at 1b and 2b, I prefer our SS and 3B, Lee over Alou, CF, both guys coming off of injuries, question marks, Maggs over Sammy! Cubs starters over ours, their closer is better than ours, the rest of our bullpen is better than theirs! Cub ownership/management is MUCH better than Sox'. Not a world of difference between the 2 teams though!!!

If Dusty had a brain in his head, the cubs would have made the Series last year! He was outmanaged in a big, bad way! He had all this crap in the Pen, Clement and Zambrano are sitting there rested, and he doesn't have the wherewithall to even think about using one of them! Great, all the players like him, but, if you can't manage, you can't manage! Sometimes it is about Xs and Os. BTW...if you were implying that I am an idiot, let it be known, that I have forgotten more about baseball (and just about anything we've discussed on Soxtalk) than you have ever, or will ever know!!!

You explain to me how/where the cubs have "the goods"! Their catching sucks. Their first baseman is great. They are weak at 2B. They are weak at SS. Their 3B can't play defense. Their LF is not durable, can't last the entire season. Their CF is coming off of a major injury...definie question mark! Their RF...a "one-tool player". Team defense is awful. Team will strikeout 1300-1400 times. No team speed. Dusty is an idiot! No leadoff hitter. Great starters, above-average bullpen. THAT'S IT! If you can dispute these elements, please try to do so!

What is it about JR's ownership that you are so enamored with? The man is all talk, no action. (i.e. "I would trade all of the Bulls championships for one World Series". What a crock of s**t!!!) There is no comittment to winning on Reinsdorf's part! He is ONLY committed to making a profit, that's it!!!

Uh uh!!! Judaism IS a religion, not a race! My father (who was Jewish) was born in Poland (and was a Holocaust survivor!); that makes me Polish by nationality. (My mother (who was also Jewish) was born in the US, but, becuase she was Jewish, I am Jewish.)

I'd be a lot more confident if we had a (semi) reliable 4th and 5th starter, (and a quality 2B, SS, Catcher, bench!)

Didn't the Pirates just sign Randall Simon AND Raul Mondesi? Couldn't the Sox have used either or both of those guys? And they are trying to sign Pedro Astacio too! (Another guy that the Sox were rumored to have interest in!)
