  1. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 22, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) thats just what you want to believe, hes going to a team where they are good at developing players and they scouted out some good ones We'll see. If he isn't doing to great in AAU tourneys I doubt we will excell at Duke. Maybe he was just having an off day when he played my friends team.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 22, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) That'd be correct You aint gonna get to 300 too quickly going at that rate. Damn, he gets no run support. I feel bad for him.
  3. Sheyer isn't even that good. My friend played against him and his team beat Sheyer's team, he said he was overrated. Don't be too disappointed Illini fans, he will be a bust at Duke.
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 22, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) I doubt he does by '10. Not that it matters any, because he could have 70 wins at that point when he should have 100-120, but that is besides the point. I doubt he is a Royal his entire career. Isn't he 0-5 now this year?
  5. I hate how stupid most Cubs followers are, I will not call them fans because they do not deserve to be called fans. Whenever someone says "sox suck, cubs rule" I ask them what's the cubs record or name 5 starters on the team and almost always they can't answer it and come back by making fun of me and saying I'm too obsessed with the Sox. It gets really old. It's sad when I know more about their team than they do.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) It amazes me how down on Garcia people have been this year. He has an era under 4, 6 of his 9 starts have been quality starts(I believe Buehrle has the same amount, someone correct me if I'm wrong) Freddy's been very good he just had those two bad starts in a row, besides that he's actually been pretty dominate. I agree. He is the guy we traded some great talent for and he has lived up to expectations for the most part. He has nasty ass stuff and IMO will be a stud down the stretch and in the playoffs. When he steps up his game and lives up to his potential, he is filthy.
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) I don't care what the f*** you call them as long as you can call them winners. ^^^Yeah that^^^
  8. Oh s***, I was watching this game and when Carlos popped up with 1 out and the bases loaded in the 9th I turned it off, thinking a 3 run lead was enough. This sucks.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 21, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) This year, I've grown to liking a lot of teams in the NL. Marlins -- I love the way Willis, Beckett, and Burnett go about there business. I've heard Burnett is a jag in the clubhouse (true or not?), but he's got nasty stuff. Ditto Beckett, and Willis is one of the funnest players in the game. Cardinals -- I can watch that lineup all day. Pujols-Rolen-Walker-Edmonds is the best four hitters in a row in all of baseball. Plus, they were the first team that I ever loved, yes, before the beloved Pale Hose -- so, I've kind of liked them since I remember... Brewers -- I dunno, I've just grown to liking this team over the past year or so, and the Carlos Lee deal sealed it. Overbay, Sheets, Lee, Jenkins, Hardy, and in some years, Weeks and Fielder. Plus, if I get into Marquette, I'm going to go see them play a lot. And, finally, the Dodgers -- Mostly because I'm a DePodesta fan, but JD Drew is probably my favorite OF'er in all of baseball, and I like Valentin/Penny/Lowe/Brazoban. I'm with you on everything except the Dodgers. The Brewers always do a great job of beating up on the Cubs and I've always liked the Cardinals. It would have been awesome if the Cards could have beat the BoSox last year in the WS. Also, I always liked Larry Walker a lot and it is great to see him get to be on a winning team finally. The Cardinals have the best fans in the majors too, I love seeing their spirit. Hopefully we can have that much enthusiasm on the south side one day.
  10. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ May 22, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) The team needs a balance of veterans and youngsters, etc. What Frank Thomas can and does bring to this team by his leadership & his presence on the field can't be measured. He is a professional hitter, who will take the walk, go to the opposite field, hit with power, etc, and all that does is make the line up that much stronger. I think it will also help the likes of Paulie, Carl and Jermaine, as well as others. Frank Thomas deserves to be back in a Chisox uniform and helping this team to the championship. The man is headed to the Hall of Fame and I want it to be in a Sox uniform. I agree with everything you said. There is no way I ever want to trade Big Frank. I hope he retires as a White Sox and goes into the HOF wearing our cap.
  11. I would never, ever trade Frank Thomas. He is the face of this franchise. When he comes back, our lineup will be outstanding. And why would we trade him to a possible playoff opponent? There is no way I would ever want the Sox to trade Frank, no matter how good of prospects we get. Prospects are just that, prospects, not proven veteran leaders who are on the verge of hitting 500 home runs.
  12. QUOTE(soxman352000 @ May 21, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) I mow the lawn as well. Does anyone here have a riding mower because our property is huge and we still have a regular mower. Does anyone know the cost of one? You can get them for around 1 grand I think. We got ours for 2 gs but it is a little nicer than the average mower. It's definitely worth it if you have a big lawn.
  13. We're really beating a dead horse with this BBTN stuff. I'm glad we haven't had to see any of the ESPN sucks threads lately. Just win, that's all we gotta do.
  14. Simmer down people, the White Sox have a 6 game lead on the Twins and have taken the first two games from the Scrubs. We have the best record in the Major Leagues too.
  15. QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 21, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Could be a problem, but Gagne's #1 pitch is his change-up. It might not be as effective without a high 90's fastball, but it could be serviceable enough to at least be a good set-up man if worst comes to worst. We would have to give up the farm to get him though. I'm confident that Kenny can find us a better deal elsewhere.
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) I think that's key. Maybe the dodgers know something about his health that they aren't exactly excited about announcing to the world? Billy Koch meet Eric Gagne.
  17. You should just stop going to the MLB boards and stay here. There are no trolls and all you have to hear about is the White Sox.
  18. Just finished my first season, finally. 101-61 was my record. Omar Daal went 19-4 with a 2.90 era Vlad got MVP going .329/45/145, Rowand was .298/44/112, and J Reed was ROY. Jimmy Rollins had 22 home runs too. I'm going into the playoffs without Rollins, Mauer, Barret, Lohse, and Delucci. Everyone got hurt in September games that I simmed after winning the division. My starting SS is Royce Clayton and my catcher is some minor leaguer that isn't a real MLB player.
  19. Also, the Marlins kick ass on MVP. I actually play with them instead of the White Sox most of the time.
  20. Complete game shutout for Davis?? Hell yeah! Ben Sheets who?
  21. The Marlins are my second favorite team, and I was wondering if anyone else followed them. I love the approach the team has and thanks to Oz, we finally have it this year. Pierre and Castillo at the top of that order is deadly and then they have Delgado, Cabrera, Lowell, and Lo Duca and that is one hell of a lineup.
  22. QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 21, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) I won't disagree with Hermanson, but extra bullpen depth doesn't hurt. Especially given that Cotts is no sure bet, nor is Vizcaino. Politte has been good, but I don't think he'll be this good all year. And should we expect Hermanson to excell at or near this level all year? Why not? I obviously don't think he can not give up a run all year, but he has what it takes to be a solid closer IMO. And I agree, you can never have too much bullpen help, but for 10 and 12 million dollars a year, I think we can find some other help for less money and less talent.
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 21, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) Go Doug Davis! 4 scoreless innings for him! What a sleeper pick this guy was for me! Too bad he's only starting for me because Sheets and Scmidt are hurt.
