QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) I don't listent to the blues very often, but when I do hear some Howlin Wolf, BB King, Muddy Waters, etc. I get so damn homesick. Right now I'm listening to BB King's The Thrill is Gone and just dying to be back up north. I've got to find a weekend free. Hearing "Sweet Home Chicago" or "Lake Shore Drive by Aliota Haynes and Jeromiah have that same effect on me.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) Are you going to ever say something about hockey that, you know, isn't "Wirtz is teh sux0rs!"...? Because I see the same thing every season. Hawks fans get all excited about this that or the other thing only for them to suck worse than the last year. Since 1996 this has been the trend and it isin't about to stop now. -
Couldn't this thread have waited until November sometime?

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) I would argue that the most balanced journalists around on Cable TV today - despite any personal biases are: Keith Olbermann, and very sadly - Jon Stewart. I liked Keith Olbermann a lot better when he was doing SportsCenter. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:02 AM) Trust me and my 13 years of experience when I say this... You don't want to bet this dude on hockey. You might as well start making out the check now. I stand by what I said. The Slacks havent done anything to put themselves in a position to contend for anything but tee times in florida in April. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) What teams will offer him a max deal under this new cap? Pronger and Scotty Niedermeyer are both looking for it, and I'm not so sure they'll get it, unless it's a team that currently has a low payroll and is looking to upgrade e.g The Thrashers and Blackhawks. It wont be the Slackhawks........not with Dollar Bill calling the shots. If anything he'll make a lowball offer then whine to the fans about how he "tried" to get him in a Hawks sweater. -
QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) see that's the kind of crap I was talking about a few posts ago, I'd rather he tell the truth, because nobody's buying what he's saying now. Exactly how many people ( not corporations ) are there out that are stupid enough to have season tickets to the Slackhawks?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) Chris Pronger's prob not gonna be retained since the Blues are gonna keep Weight and Tkachuk again. There's a #1 D-Man if the Hawks wanna sign one. Wirtz won't pony up what Pronger wants. Come on now. -

QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Definitely the funniest. Harris is exposed as the busher he is and not even MB can get 5 or 6 outs an inning 2 or 3 innings in a row. Ozuna making bad decisions and, with Uribe, throwing balls away leading to error-assisted inside the park grand slams. I just hope Ozzie has learned a lesson here tonight after 4 months. I really feel bad for MB. Ozzie has all but destroyed any hope he had for winning the Cy Young by putting these nitwits in the lineup and having them boot the ball around the infield all night during his starts. I can't think of a more hard luck pitcher in baseball right now. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) I hope no one turns this into a "Fathom b****ing just to b**** post", but against someone like Lima who makes a ton of mistakes, you want hitters in the lineup who will make him pay for hanging a slider, etc. A great example was the 2nd batter of the game, where Ozuna got a 2-0 hanger, and just hit a weak flyball to CF. Besides the fact that it should have been a hit-and-run, most players in baseball would have hit that pitch a mile. Dude, its the Royals. We can afford to empty the bench against these scrubs. -

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) I'm not really sure where I stand on this particular action. I think the random searches aren't that intrusive. It's one thing to randomly search someone on the street. It's another to use a facility. Public transportation IS a facility. The question is, if they find pot - will they let it go? If they're looking for bombs, the search oughta be limited to bombs I think. I'm uncomfortable with them using a random search for any other reason. We live in a free society and that entails an element of risk. Why you don't see the panic in London that you see elsewhere is that this is a risk that they have lived with for decades. If you'd ever been on the Underground - you would have noticed that there were no trashcans. Because they adapted from IRA bombs. They've accepted the fact that if someone wants to kill them, they're probably going to get hit in some way or fashion. They might do all they can to prevent them, but they won't sacrifice their own rights to make sure that it doesn't happen. The same can be said of the Germans, French and Spanish. And its a lesson we should probably learn too. The NYPD said that if a random search turns up anything that they will prosecute.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Thank God Mark is pitching tonight. I'm not used to 3+ hour games. I was losing patience last night....even with all of our hitting. I almost fell asleep during the later innings of last nights game it got that boring. Owning teams is awesome but close games keep me awake. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Highly doubt it. Highly. JR a Top-5 Center? Boy, I didn't realize that this was 1994... Veteran presence? Yeah, maybe we should bring in Igor Korolev and Alexander Karpotsev to bring a good 'veteran presence'. GMAB. Kyle Calder and Mark Bell have been in the league long enough, this is their team -- they play the game the right way. Matt Barnaby is a vet, too. On D, Bryan Berard. We don't need a bunch of 35 year olds who can barely skate taking away time from our rooks... Read my post closer please. Notice I didn't say he was going to bring in those specific players but if he follows his usual MO you can expect just what I said............old retreads who can't cut it anymore but people recognize the name. Knowing Dollar Bill I have no reason to think he's going to change.
