QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) So if the Bears were to fall down 14-0 in the first quarter, I assume the game is over as well. With their offense, yes. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) He had 11 sacks as well. Yeah, that's the one trick. Strahan had 11.5, and 82 tackles. And people were mentioning Freeney for MVP early in the season. -

Dwight Freeney only had 35 tackles all season?? Holy s***, talk about a one-trick pony. -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Sound like an asshole? lol. I can show you an asshole if you really want. Believe me, you don't want to see what an asshole I can really be. This is a mesaage board. And I can share my opinion anytime I feel like it. If you don't like it, you know what you can do. And not marketing teams does have an effect on ratings, especially for non superstars or teams not in the big markets. This isn't a problem when it comes to the diehards. But for the casual bandwagoners, it certainly is. What, first you try and deride me as somehow not being a "true fan" like you, now you're threatening me? Winnarrrr. Go ahead and show me how much of an asshole you can be. I don't give a s***, it doesn't hurt me none. And yeah, you can share your opinion, I never said you couldn't. But I can still call you out as sounding like an elitist asshole because goddammit, it's my right as a red-blooded 'merican. Marketing the NBA isn't Sportscenter/PTI's job. It's talking about the stories that people want to talk about. People want to talk about Kobe vs LeBron before Spurs-Pistons. Accept the reality of it, stop whining, and move on.

I don't think Tonyho and CubKilla understand what Rex is saying about him being back on terrestrial radio. Tex kinda explained it well though. It's not that Stern would be off of Sirius, it's that they would take his show and syndicate it to mainstream radio so that the show you hear on Monday on Sirius is on Tuesday on your regular FM radio.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 07:43 AM) Kobe just pisses me off to no end. He's probably my most hated sports superstar in the world today, but that's just me. It probably depends on what you like watching. A great defensive matchup b/w the Spurs and Pistons, or watching Kobe and Lebron go head to head. Personally, I'd rather watch Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns go to work at the moment with that offense of theirs. Another basketball pagan! We must repent and beg the almighty J4L for forgiveness and guidance so that we too may find light in only defensive slug-fests, and shun the evil temptations that are the "fast break" and the "three point play"! I only hope it isn't too late!

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 05:21 AM) Any true fan of the game would have a problem with a individual match-up getting 3 times the coverage of a match-up between the two best teams in the league. Notice I said "true" fan. So you probably don't qualify. haha, ok. Maybe it's just the fact that I realize that a) the NBA already gets the second-most coverage to the NFL and b) if people don't watch the finals, it's not because ESPN paid more attention to Kobe vs LeBron in January. But hey if you wanna sound like an elitist asshole, go right ahead.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) You can't do that without ignoring the two best TEAMS in the league? I don't see why you feel the need to whine about something like this.
-
You have to market your superstars. Every league does it. Kobe vs LeBron is a compelling matchup.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) And you wonder why many think the NBA has fallen off over the years? You've got easily the two best teams in the league going at it tonight in the Pistons and Spurs. These teams have the two best records in the league. They played a grueling 7 game final last season. They've won the last 3 championships overall. But guess what all the talk is about from ESPN, ESPN NEWS, Around The Horn, etc, etc? Lebron vs Kobe. :headshake I got no problem with that, if you're gonna market a game to the average shmuck it's that one.

And he won't be rusty this weekend when he plays for the first time in...3 weeks? His decision making isn't that great, I saw him force the ball in the red zone against Atlanta and give up a pick, then get lucky when Carpenter fumbled. Then he just threw up a wounded duck against the Packers that got plucked easily. -

Actually I did watch both games with Grossman. The difference between he and Orton isn't Weinke-Delhomme. Grossman moves the ball slightly better, but, one touchdown! As for the defense thing, I don't know I need to see more of the conversation than that. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) Well, two things: 1) It should have been a 13-0 shutout. The Panthers were lucky to even get a field goal in the 4th quarter. On seemingly every play, the Bears D-Line was in Delhomme's face. 8 sacks, countless batted balls, etc. The D-Line pressure was overwhelming. That's why Vasher got those picks. 2) The difference between Orton and Grossman is like the difference between Weinke and Delhomme. 1)ok, so 13-0. whoopdee-goddamn-doo. do you really think the panthers are going to run the same game plan with the same blocking schemes? really? 2)no way, no way, no way, no way no way. god, grossman plays a game and a half and everyone is ready to anoint him the savior. 51.3% passing, 1 TD and 2 INT, 59.7 rating (same as kyle orton), and they didn't even play him against minnesota for some stupid reason. the panthers shut down a good giants offense, they can shut down a bad bears offense. Delhomme's career rating is 84.5 (80, 87 and 88 as a Panther), weinke's is 60.4. grossman career - 68.8; orton 59.7. ridiculous comparison. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) It might look like it was close on paper, but if you watched that game, it was a severe physical beatdown. That and the Atlanta game were my favorites this year. If you could ever get a hold of that gametape, it would be well worth your time to check it out. You'd be impressed. I was just saying, the Bears didn't exactly move the ball that last game like the '01 Rams. Their only TD came on a 3 yard drive. Now, the Panthers didnt really move it either, but all this means is whatever team makes less mistakes is gonna win when everyone seems to think it'll just be the same game all over again. -
Thank god ESPN got in on the NBA tv contract so they could warehouse it on wednesdays and show college ball instead. The old schedule of TNT Wednesday-TBS Thursday-TNT Friday was 100 times better.

Minnesota was down 25-6 to Sconsin with 3:15 left in the first half, they're now up 50-49
