Alright you sally, it's fine. I am just tryin to figure out which way public opinion sways on this.
-
Yeah that's the one I was talkin about. It's f***ing horrible, because it's so loud, like they turned up the volume on the facial noises or something. Gah.
-
Brando, I respect your opinion (not that I don't respect other people's, but we've both clashed and agreed on several occassions, so it would seem fair), am I making up a double standard that doesn't exist? Am I reading too much into this? Is there justification in thinking there is a bit of hypocrisy going on? You know from the Iowa thread the other night that I am no white guy apologist, I just like to point out inconsistencies that I see, whether or not they seem that way to other people.

The NBA has fallen in love with offensive fouls, there are way more called than should be. I don't think the refs even understand the rules anymore, just whenever a defender goes down it's an offensive foul nowadays. Also, I'm not really surprised with the East doing well against the West. The western teams like to run and gun, if you slow down the tempo and play the half court game with good defense, you have a good shot.

Oh yeah, I really jumped apu. I don't see how he could ever recover from that vicious attack. If you seriously do not recall yourself ever flipping out on people for saying f*g and calling stuff gay, then one of us is sure losing their grip on reality and it sure as hell isn't me.
-
I was talking about the word "f*g", not the word "f***ing". But way to overreact!
-
It's not only what's being said, but who's saying it. You are the one who goes on a rampage if someone says the word f*g. Now you are telling everyone to grow thicker skin. Quote me some bible verses about love thy neighbor.

I'm not the only one with a cartoon figure in their avatar. And Nuke is right in what he says. There's no way you can dispute that example.
-
Hell yes it is, nobody would take that much time to make a website all about him, mocking him like that, if he didn't hate him. I like though how you only take select parts to respond to. And because Bob Dole made fun of Dukakis in 1988, now all of a sudden you're justified? All that proves is that both sides do it, doesn't make it right. I would think a patron saint would be able to see what was right.

Hate is hate is hate. That's like saying OH I only murdered one person so it's not like I was trying to eliminate a whole race. There is no difference between this and the Shaq example I gave. And you know damn well anyone who posted a link to a site like that would be chastised mercilessly. My issue here is not with people disliking Bush. I'm tired of his nonsense too, I hope he doesn't get re-elected. Take issue with his politics, that I can respect. What I said to Apu was not because I didn't want to hear it, I was just pointing out how he has to bring up his hate of Bush in every.single.thread.on.this.board. But talking about how he looks like a chimp? Is that supposed to show intelligence? How does that make anyone better than him?
-
Oh yeah? I'm not so sure. What if someone posted a site that compared pictures of Shaq and a gorilla? HEY EVERYONE SHAQ LOOKS LIKE A BIG MONKEY. Would you laugh at that? What about one that showed Jews with big noses? Would you laugh and put it in your favorites? What if someone posted pictures of gay women and compared them to pictures of men? Would you laugh? I doubt it.
-
The Bush/Chimp site. If that site involved any other person than a republican white male, and someone posted it, cw would be the first to blast them for being racist/hateful.
-
That might be the most childish thing I've ever seen. And I'm not even that big a fan of Bush, but damn don't people have any class?
-
I may confused here, but I could have sworn this thread wasn't about president Bush...
-
Could the Rangers be any dumber? Yeah Jaromir Jagr, that will cure what ails you. Offense was the problem all along anyway...

The only tournaments I ever catch parts of are Wimbledon and the US Open. I used to like tennis a lot, but it doesn't interest me as much anymore.

Jesse Palmer, NY Giants QB - The new BACHELOR
Spiff replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
He didn't leave football just to do this. It is the offseason for 30 teams right now. And yes he was in football, he started the last three games of last season. -
From the Israeli wall thread Mr. Zero Posted: Jan 22 2004, 01:47 AM CrimsonWeltall Posted: Jan 22 2004, 01:58 AM Im not tryin to mock Mr Zero, but it's funny because it came like 100 posts into the thread, and the response was so spot-on.

http://www.mrqe.com/lookup?^Butterfly+Effect,+The+(2004) I thought the premise looked pretty good too, a real mindf*** movie. These reviews are all over the place, and the real big papers haven't reviewed it yet.

Don't sleep on the A-10! UMass may suck, but the rest of them can jump up and bite anyone who doesn't play all-out.

The discrepancies are A) I was kidding around when I said move them to Boston (the Expos to Vegas? that would never happen) but that somehow meant I only think about myself, and B) when I said moving might not be the worst thing for them, you took that to mean I thought it was the best thing, and now all of a sudden I don't care about anything but the bottom line. I am being honest when I say I'd like it if the Sox were closer to me. I can't lie about that, and I won't. I don't think I'm alone in that. But if given the chance, if someone handed me the keys to the White Sox camper, would I pull the trigger? Who knows, I certainly don't. There a ton of things an owner must consider in a decision like that (including both history and the bottom line, but past events have shown us which matters more), but I wouldn't rule it out completely, and that is something else I can't lie about. I find myself believing any businessman of Trump's ilk would consider it too.

Someone's still sore after that ACC/Big 10 challenge

If I am New Jersey to her then I wasn't trying, and I suck. Therefore, it is understandable for her to want out. It was a random analogy because 1) it involved fan interest and not owner interest, and 2) I never said I would do anything. You assume because I throw an idea out there (moving the Sox) that I would automatically do it. And because I explore the shameful of idea of moving them, all of a sudden I don't care about Chicago baseball history. That's fine, think what you want. Am I the crazy one here? I Know Jason has made some good points. I want to hear from other people on this, especially those who live outside of Chicago. Am I the only dispicable hellion here who wouldn't mind if the Sox mo-mo-mo-OH I CAN'T EVEN SAY IT WITHOUT CRYING.

Thank you, thank you very much. I'd like to thank the academy, all the little people, and of course the Tar Heels for boning out. This is a clutch win, especially after the last three bad losses. But it doesn't get any easier with Wake at home and then a trip to Cameron after that. I don't know if this team can make the tournament, but this is definitely a big win to build on.

So cynicism at your age, like telling your young grandson early on that santa claus doesn't exist is alright? What is the difference between Santa Claus and an owner caring about the fans? They are both illusions. Next, go ahead and root for Miami and Florida, I don't give a s***. You are obviously missing my point. Did i not just concede that loyalty exists in the fan-team relationship? OBVIOUSLY fans are loyal. Obviously there is loyalty from the fans to their teams, or there would be no sports, but it does not work (or rarely works) both ways. But then you go and make some random analogy that doesn't even work, I don't know. I don't care. It's so not worth getting into this.
