  1. I'm not sure why, but this is my personal favorite.
  2. Why don't we just tag a thread titled "Who do we want to fire today?" I'm sure it would get a lot of use here. Hell, it would have come in handy in previous years, as this has always been a popular theme here...even in 2005. My suggestion for today: Fire Mark Salas. What the hell has he done to get us out of this mess?
  3. Every time this happens, I ask myself the same question: If Cub fans love Wrigley Field so much, why are they always throwing garbage on it?
  4. There are very few, if any, available managers that I would take over Ozzie. Dusty Baker isn't even close to being on that list.
  5. I actually think its less surprising that Barrett would be involved than Zambrano.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 21, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) Well, half of the garbage exchanged in that deal is where it belongs now.....the ironic thing is the only arm of value in that deal is Vasquez, who is looking really good for us in AAA. It's pretty amazing how long Cotts and Aardsma pitched really well though, they each kept that fraud alive for a solid month. So let me get this straight. Aardsma has basically been stellar from day one, and he has one bad weekend against the Cubs and he's total garbage. Hmmm. Add this to the series of knee-jerk posts you made in pale hose talk over the weekend and I can only come to one conclusion: You put way too much stock into the crosstown series.
  7. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 21, 2007 -> 08:54 AM) Is it me, or is the Sun Times lobbying for the firing of Ozzie Guillen. Non-stop mentions all weekend of the stupid call to Mike North and how his act is old...blah, blah, blah. Whether he is the best manager or worst manager, people here think both, he won the only World Series in this town in the last 100 years. So I don't really care about whether he swore on the Mike North show and called Mariottia a f***ing f** last year. But it seems that Telander, Mariotti, and Couch are all against him. Thoughts? Anyone care? I don't know. Its monday, and I'm bored. I don't know. Seems to me like Telender and Deluca have been rather supportive...almost telling people to lay off the guy. Guillen's lip schtick least of Sox' worries You say Ozzie swears too much? No $#*! Obviously, Mariotti's irrational cries for Ozzie's head seem to overshadow the other columnists take on the situation, but what else is new. Hell, lately I can't tell the difference between Mariotti and a SoxTalk poster.
  8. Nice to have a thread around for the "idiots" here. Being one of those "idiots", I'd like to send out a big thanks to rangercal!
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 18, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Should have brought in Thornton or Aardsma, IMO. Those guys should be the primary set-up guys. MacDougal has been struggling so that was not the type of situation that he needed to be in. I think Mac needs to be in middle relief or in when we're losing until he gets his confidence rolling and gets to throwing the ball better. My main complaint with Guillen is that he often fails at his primary duty: putting his team in the best position to win. Yet, you suggest he puts in Thornton, who hasn't been much better than MacDougal this season. Is that putting us in the best position to win?

    Ozzie

    I gotta say, its quite amusing to hear Mike North giving someone lectures on class.
  11. Wow. I think this game would classify as a typical Cubs loss.
  12. Personally, I think anybody who superanalyzes the words of Ozzie Guillen and tries to apply logic and/or make sense out of them is an idiot.

    The Office

    Jim: "Oh my god, I have never seen that look in a man’s eyes … ever. I thought that I might die. On beach day." Quality episode. Loved the sumo scenes. Although, I must say that it loses some points simply for having Pam tell us that she was wearing a two-piece, and never blessing us with the sight of Pam in a two-piece. I feel like Toby now.

    QUOTE(SnB @ May 10, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) is tonight the season finale? Nope. Finale is next week. And its looking more and more like we will have an hour of Office every week next season. NBC Likely to Supersize Its Office Order
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ May 7, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Best one by far. Good grief.

  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 11:02 AM) Can someone give me a few solid eaxmples (with links or quotes included) as to why Schilling is supposedly such an A-hole? I hear people say that a lot, but I've never seen or heard any evidence of it. Well, I'd say that most of the disliking from him comes more from the way he presents himself, and not so much for the things he has done (although I thought the Questech thing was kind of a dickish move). For me personally, I've never cared much for people who take themselves way too seriously. It's great that he is charitable, but I've never liked the way he carries himself. Calling into radio shows when you don't like what they are saying about you, or posting on message boards to rip into columnists may make him seem like an engaging guy, but to me it comes off as someone who worries way too much about what people think about him. Just my opinion. If he is really a wonderful guy that is just misunderstood, then I'm fine with being wrong on this one. I only base my opinion on what I've seen and heard from the guy. 21. QUOTE(Top Notch @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) A new rule: If you must be a homer about an opposing team, make it the Cubs. I don't think this has much to do with him being a member of the Red Sox. I'm fairly certain most of the disdain for Schilling goes back much further. The guy has always conducted himself as if he was the commissioner of baseball. And his love for himself and the words that come out of his mouth has always been irritating. I really could care less if the bloody sock was real or fake. The guy has been a hell of a pitcher throughout his career, and that performance was impressive. Still, he's not a very likable guy. The only reason anybody thinks it could have been fake is that he comes off as a guy who would do such a thing.
  22. Whether or not the sock was bloody is debatable. Whether or not Curt Schilling is a total dickface isn't. At least in my mind.
  23. I miss the Tribune's Prior Watch. Wonder if we'll ever see that again.
