QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) Saw it again today with some friends. I think he lives.

    Pizza

I've had Giordano's a few times and had both Giordano's and Lou's this weekend and I want to say that without a doubt, Lou's was better. It wasn't even close. Lou's was the best deep dish I've ever had. I still don't think it beats Lombardi's New York pizza but its easily in my top 4 or 5.
  5. Watch Getz get down the line in the Futures Game....that right there shows how much faster he is than Miles.
  6. Beckham has zero reason to go back. His stock will never be as high as it is right now. He'd never be a top 4 pick and where the Sox grabbed him was his likely upside.
  7. I don't think the Sox are very high on Lin. They signed him based on one thing and have never seen the pitcher that they signed (ie, his velocity disappeared from what it was over-seas).
  8. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 08:03 AM) Hmmm.... well, for what it's worth... the games I've listened to he's been in the 90's pretty consistently. Based on what I've learned from various stops in the minors is that those guns tend to be a couple MPH greedy (same with the Fox/ESPN Game of the Week Guns).
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 07:55 AM) Based on your analysis I am hoping to see him pitch. That's what we need at USCell - sinkerball action. You don't think the Sox will put him in as a releiver do you? I didn't think so but mainly because I don't believe Masset is stretched out enough to throw a spot start and Carrasco just pitched. My guess would be Richard would get the start as it would appear the most obvious thing to do (but thats not always what the Sox opt with). If they weren't going to use Richard as a starter than I don't see why they send Russell down for him.
  10. Ya, it sounds like Freddy won't be ready in time and most contenders are moving on. Freddy will end up being back with a club next season.
  11. I just don't see any way possible the Sox could acquire Ichiro without making the team significantly worse. Plus Ichiro is on the downside of his career and that is not the type of guy I'd want to give up the farm for.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 07:45 AM) Considering how much the Sox hated Rauch's attitude, I would be shocked if he was back with the organization. I have a feeling the A.J. Burnett rumors will pick up. I don't buy this Jon Rauch to the Sox talk. Nothing would shock me more. If they bring him back, they might as well bring back Paniagua (that is how disliked Rauch was by the organization and it happened long before Kenny went off on him when Rauch left the game early).
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) Adam Dunn is a far superior player to 90% of baseball. Man is a stud. His batting average (.230) is the lowest it has been since 2003 and he is still gonna hit 40 HRs and walk 100+ times. How can you hate on a guy who has a .385 on-base percentage and is gonna bomb 40 balls? What else do you want? I don't like Dunn on the current version of the Sox. If they get rid of Thome and Konerko I would be all about Dunn (because I believe every lineup should have a few power guys) but as currently constructed this team has enough power guys who don't hit for high averages and could use another guy or two that could hit for high averages, possess good speed and other attributes.
  14. The Sox aren't going to deal OC unless they get blown away with an offer. That would mean Kemp and a good prospect for OC and I highly doubt the Dodgers would do that. The sad thing is they probably could trade Kemp for OC and I wouldn't have a problem with that. The issue is you'd have to find a taker for Paulie at that point (since you would have 4 OFer's).
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) The more I think about it, the more I want the Sox to trade Fields. If you can package Fields for a big time major leaguer that you'll have control over for the next few years, you have to think about it. Even if Crede doesn't return to the Sox next year, there should be a good amount of 3rd baseman available for the Sox to go after. I would do it in a heart-beat. Josh Fields still has a lot of adjustments to make to become a very good major leaguer.
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) I've listened to a few of his starts via mlb audio. His fastball was in the 92-93 range. He threw off speed pitches that dropped down to around 77-78. Don't remember much about his repertoire, but do remember he threw an effective curve in the games I heard. I wouldn't consider 92-93 his consistent velocity. He tops out around there but pitches more in the 87-90 MPH range. Relies on changing speeds, locations, and good command. Has good sinking action on most everything he throws. Not the type of guy that will impress you over a one game span, rather the type of guy that starts to impress the more you see him throw.
  17. I can't imagine the cost. I love Huston Street though.
  18. So did anything happen with this? I didn't see anything on sportscenter late last night?
  19. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 02:27 AM) Gavin is starting to remind me of Javy "I can't go more than 5-6 innings/Always expect the big inning from me" Vazquez, anyone else see this alarming trend lately? Gavin gave up 1ER in 6 innings with a lot of k's. He goes 7 if it weren't for Crede being horrid over at 3B. I don't see the comparison at all. Gavin threw a good game last night. Ozzie's managing of the pen and the execution of the pen a whole other story.
  20. I hope that there is an actual reason for his loss and this isn't just them calling it a tired arm or something. Maybe some sort of minor back issue or something along those lines? I guess elbow tenditis could be what has effected him or it could be a BS injury. With Carrasco coming up, who will making the starts or does the schedule line up to work out that they really don't need a fifth for the first turn or two in the 2nd half of the season? I certainly hope Carrasco isn't going to start and Masset isn't stretched out enough to start. In fact, with Floyd/Danks I think they should be interested in getting those guys rest so I see no reason anyone but Egbert/Broadway/Haeger isn't up (Richard would have been a suggestion but he's on the olympic squad and I doubt the Sox will pull him away from that, plus I don't even know how that would work).
  21. Not quite as concerned with the drunk football player. There was the theft stuff that happened with what seemed to be half of there WR corps last year but for the most part the Iowa football players issues have been what I would deem "minor". This potential rape thing is a whole other story though. Either way all I read this off-season was how Iowa was moving forward and putting more issues on character and they were going to do what they could to ensure it. Who knows if they have or haven't but I hope they aren't just saying things, rather DO IT.
  22. All I'm going to say is if true, anyone involved in the scandal should be fired, imo (well by that I mean anyone who tried to cover up something like rape). Absolutely dispicable. They didn't learn from the Steve Alford/Pierre Pierce s***.
  23. Awesome. Long would sign, but only for first round money and while he had arguably first round potential, he wasn't near as clear cut as the guys who went 1st round (I'd have been willing to go anywhere from 2nd to 5th round money with Long and I think 2nd round money may have been pushing it, imo). The Sox put in a good effort but bottom line, there is no reason they should have offered 1st round money. Great stuff on Danks.
  24. We had a full roster, WSI had a short roster so Mario and I played on the other roster to even things out (and when I say WSI had a short roster, I mean there were 3 WSI team players there (initially 5 or 6, but when it started pouring just before first pitch a couple of them left). So I don't think you can really pick a winner, but I think everyone had a blast playing in the pouring rain (horrid field conditions).

    The Dark Knight

That movie was absolutely amazing. Easily the best movie I've seen this year and one of the best I've ever seen. Ledger was brilliant as the joker, Bale was his usually stellar self and the movie kept me on the edge of the seat for the full 2hr's and 40 minutes and didn't feel like I was there for 2hr's and 40 minutes. The only bad part of the movie was me squeeming in my seat trying to hold in my pee for the last hour or so of the movie.
