  1. If he was a free agent right now he'd get at least 15M per year over 5 years. With a real good season, which is more than possible given the fact that the Angels are a good team that plays in a bad division, and I can easily see him asking for 18-20M per year (doesn't mean he'll get 20, but I could see him getting 17-18 if he has an 18-20 win season).
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) It's virtually assured.... Their other choices are ASU (they don't want a Pac 10 conference game), Hawaii (No chance), Kansas (Hawaii of the midwest), WVU (coming off a loss to Wanny). The only danger is if UGa is in the championship. OSU will be one, giving Rose the first replacement pick... and the most lucrative matchup would be LSU-USC, which might be better than the championship game) Those are the two best teams in the country right now (OU would be the 3rd best). I would not want to play USC right now, I really think they'd beat anyone they'd play.
  3. I should add that I was talking about a Crede for a pitcher deal making sense. I would prefer a lot of pitchers over Capuano though.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Where exactly did anyone say the Sox were seeking a proven veteran starter? Seriously, I think Gavin Floyd put up better numbers overall last year than Capuano and half of his starts were terrible. If Williams plans on moving Danks/Gio for another bat than this move would make quite a bit of sense, imo. The Sox rotation isn't exactly a guarantee to be good.
  5. Freaking sweet. Flipping through the channels today and my cable provider added: CNNHD UPNHD (Dodgers/Angels/Lakers broadcasts) FSNHD (not that it matters cause we had an HD feed for the games that just wasn't called HD) TLCHD TBSHD DiscHD (DiscTheatre HD as well) Animal Planet HD HistoryHD National Geographic HD And most importantly...NFL HD (just in time for the Bears game this Thursday).
  6. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 12:56 PM) Well, from my experience if price is not an issue and I have to pick one I'd go with Grey Goose. It's pretty damn smooth, especially if chilled. However, basically any of the ones that are a step above Smirnoff are decent to good, and I'm not totally sure I could tell the difference between most of them, other than that it's not Smirnoff. Ketel One, Absolut, Skyy, or Svedka are all perfectly acceptable. I've never tried Belvedere (I've heard it's overrated and over-priced), Effen, Level, or interestingly Stolichnaya though. That is the one I was trying to say. For the price you can't go wrong with Stoli (you can usually find it to be cheaper than Ketel and Goose). I've heard good things about Level but have never tried it.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) Do you folks who've been at this longer than me have a favorite wodka wariety? I'm finally getting to the point where I can afford something beyond Gordon's, which is occasionally nice. Ketel is a the Vodka I really like. I recently switched to Kirlkland brand (aka Grey Goose) cause they have it super cheap at Costco in a huge bottle and its awesome as well. Stoili's or however it is called is a real good cheaper brand of Vodka (high quality for the price).
  8. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 01:58 AM) You're not alone. That's how I feel. I bought a bottle of Patron one time and everyone thought I was crazy when I said I liked to drink it on the rocks. When it comes to drinks...give me Patron or Ketel on the rocks and I'm a happy camper (I won't complain with Goose but prefer Kettle). Lately I buy Kirkland brand Vodka from Costco as it is bottled by Grey Goose (for like half the price). I'll also do Ketel and tonic. When it comes to beers: Bass Coors Lite (if I'm going with a lite beer this is my beer of choice; great for drinking games) Sierra Nevada Blue Moon Shiner Bock
  9. Well I'm sure they could have picked up either Molina without giving up Milledge (lesser prospects could have gotten them either of them. Bengie had a pretty damn solid year offensively and we all know, despite his defense dropping a bit, that he's still got a hose). Hell, they could have picked up Chris Stewart in the rule V draft (He's more unproven but he has a strong strong arm and could probably hit close to .230). Henry Blanco and Damian Miller are another two vet catchers with light bats and good defensive reps that again wouldn't have cost Milledge.
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Did you discuss posting privileges on Soxtalk? Don't be takin' a position that does not respect your need for posting Congrats Seriously, I made that mistake and pretty soon I won't even be a top 10 poster, haha. Congrats Steve!!!!!
  11. 1st Try You reached 501 points, so you achieved position 812 on the ranking list You type 661 characters per minute You have 116 correct words and you have 3 wrong words 2nd Try You reached 519 points, so you achieved position 739 on the ranking list You type 680 characters per minute You have 126 correct words and you have 2 wrong words I keep getting f***ed up cause I get ahead of it and hit enter and it will randomly skip words and than I get f***ed. Chris you freaking rocked that thing. I think typing on a laptop for work has f***ed up my typing speed.
  12. Here's a question. Is Schneider that much different than Jose Molina? He's a bit younger but really is there anything else that truly differentiates them. Horrible freaking move by the Mets. I realize Church is a solid player but Milledge has so much more value and the Mets didn't have to panick, they could have found a defensive catcher.
  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) Briana Lynn 5 lbs, 7 oz, 18 inches Born at 8:02 am this morning Congrats Steff!!!!! CONGRATS STEFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) The catcher the Cubs made available, Tony Richie, was originally drafted by the White Sox, 5th round? and wasn't signed. He was relatively highly touted when he was drafted (both by the Sox and Cubs). IIRC he was out of FSU?
  15. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 11:02 AM) oh man, boone's farm is awesome. Me and the gf discovered it when we had 5 dollars cash on us and wanted to get something. We get the "red" flavor, whatever that is. It tastes like alcoholic "red pop".
  16. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) Jeez, Butler is such a garbage program. Don't actually have to have basketball talent to play there. Just jack up 30 3's from the short 3 point line and can win most games. I would actually root for Duke over Butler. What Butler does isn't basketball, it's just horses***. I can only hope that soon enough Iowa can start doing that. Unfortunately there is no way in hell that will happen this year cause the squad has absolute s*** for talent.
  17. Bobby Seay, Jeff Weaver, and Bobby Hill are an example of three picks that the White Sox had who held out and ended up getting redrafted (in Seay's case there was a loohpole and Boras went around the loophole which enabled Seay to become a FA and he ended up getting a ton of money from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays). Those three picks stewed the White Sox as well as the way Scott Boras slighted the White Sox in the Alex Rodriguez negotiations (when he was a FA with the Mariners). So between the Sox feeling they weren't treated fairly as well as the way Boras manipulated the system to screw the Sox and other baseball clubs (and get his client Seay more money) there just really is bad taste. It also has something to do with the Sox not considering themselves a big market club who will not outbid players very often (and Boras doesn't buy into taking anything but the best money offer) so in general the Sox and Boras aren't good fits very often. The Magglio Ordonez situation was also another one that probably added to the Sox dislike of Boras since Boras really prevented the Sox from being able to get the type of medical check out they would have liked.
  18. Tenn wins as Woodson's scramble is stopped short and they can't get the 2 point conversion. I actually thought for a second that Woodson was going to have a shot to get creamed but have momentum carry but than the Vol came out of nowhere from behind to strip him and take him down. Awesome game.
  19. Wow, this game is unbelievably awesome. On a sidenote, Erik Ainge is going to be a very good NFL QB (I don't know what round he's expected to go but I'd love the Bears to get him in the mid rounds). He's tall and extremely accurate.
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) Isn't Van Dyck wrong here? Don't the Sox only give up their second round, but Milwaukee will get a supplemental pick in addition to ours? Ya. They will have to give up there 2nd and 3rd round picks if they sign Rowand though.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) I've always thought he looked terrible at the plate, but somehow, he still has value on the trade market. No, he doesn't. It just happens to be that a team figures they can get him and maybe turn him around (because he's a good athlete). He's no different than Joe Borchard or Gavin Floyd at this point.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) Tampa would laugh at that trade offer. They probably want something similar to what the Marlins are going to get from the Angels for Miguel Cabrera. The Marlins are likely to get Kendrick, Mathis, Willits, and Ardenhart. Why in the world would Tampa want Uribe, an average pitching prospect in Danks, and a fading prospect in Sweeney? I really dont think that Angels package is all that great considering Mathis is really not much different than Sweeney (a once super hyped prospect that really lost a lot of value as a prospect the past season and a half although he does play a premium position) with Willits a guy that I still think can be a one year wonder and Kendrick/Adenhart being two legit pieces. I also don't think Crawford is worth near that much. However, I didn't say the Drays would accept such an offer. I just don't see how the Sox can make an offer and stay competitive.
