Thank you Big Frank...Thank You!!!!!!

QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) frank thomas's odds of being elected to the hall of fame just went up alot imo.... He should be first ballot. It is pretty evident that practically any player that actually had better offensive seasons in the past 5-10 years were using performance enhancing substances. I've been known to rip Frank but he deserves a lot of love for being an ethical ball player and one of the most amazing offensive players to ever play the game (I'm going to start saying that a lot because Thomas' accomplishments were really lessened by the results of the steroid driven players).

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) Remove Sammy Hagar. NEVER trust wikipedia on breaking stories. They have to calm down for a few days to limit junk posts. Fixed. I was looking there and another spot and hte list for the most part looked consistent and it was in nice easy to copy format.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) Brian McNamee will be targeted for character assassination since he's only associated with two names, and two big names at that. Good luck with that happening. Everyone close to the organization, including people in the media, know just how tight mcNamee was with Roger and everyone knows how tight Pettite and Roger are. The stuff in there is pretty damn concrete if you ask me and I'm glad to see Roger finally paying the price. He deserves as much s*** as Barry has gotten over the years. In fact he deserves it times 10 since Barry has had to put up with about 6 years of it by now (deservingly so for the most part). Barry Bonds isn't any different than Rocket....whooo. I still would pay money to see either of them play the game at there prime though

I updated the thread and if anyone is interested you can go to the first page and see a listing of all the players listed in the report. Let me know if there are any names that need to be added/removed.
-
Is their any complete list of the players out there yet? Or will it take a bit for someone to actually read through the report and give us a complete straight out listing of each player. That stuff on Clemens is pretty ridiculous. Of course I still think he's a first ballot hall of famer since I probably considered him a HOF prior to when he started taking roids (back with the Blue Jays).

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) If the team though his back could recover from the surgery, I'd certainly be happy with him taking that last spot on our 40 man. But I can imagine he'll probably want a place where he has a chance to start, and he might well get it. Let's say he has a 10% chance of a full recovery to where he was his last year in the minors...that gives us a 10% chance of having a replacement for Thome next year. That's the kind of gamble the Sox should be taking to get out of this hole quickly. The thing is it gives you options because it also means if you get zero production out of one of your outfield spots you can slide Fields out there and go with McPherson. Basically you are able to get a top prospect for nothing because of all the questions surrounding him and in this instance none of those questions involved character issues. I see no reason why you don't do it, especially for a team who could be out of things by June/July (I know Kenny doesn't want to think that but it is a possibility) and at that point they'd likely be selling vets anyway and that alone would open up a spot for McPherson.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) Just think of how many balls would wind up plunking AJ during the year. Haha.

Nah, not a fan of Donnelly.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 06:52 AM) I would take a flyer on him. Kiko Calero too I have no clue what he has done in Oakland or what his health status is, but that is a guy I really like when he's healthy. Good arm with some nice sinking action to his pitches. -
He's not good defensively but if he gets healthy he can slug 30-40 HR's (I still believe that). I'd be all over signing him and having him as a backup plan for if Fields goes (plus you could ocassionally DH him and play him at 1st).

Holy crap, there were some names on there that came as a surprise to me. Bagwell, I know he looked the part but for some reason I didn't know if he did or didn't. This is awesome, going to get me through the day at work.
-
I just want to say that this report is going to be better than expected since not only is the Mets guy giving up names but you have the Yanks Strength and Conditioning coach giving out names and saying he supplied Clemens with roids. I just want to see SI run a reprive where they can say Soxtalk.com was one of the first to break the news about Clemens roid use Also, I'm going to move this thread to the PHT thread. I just know a few Sox players will be in it and its such major news that I'm going to pin it over there. Plus it will keep us distracted from the Sox inactvity (heck, maybe we'll get all excited about the inactivity because some of the guys the Sox were after end up being on the list).
-
I'm going to guess the Angels/Rangers/Orioles will have the most (not necessarily current players, but I think those three teams will have the most guys that at one point or another used at some point in time). Giants will likely have a good number of guys too and I'm sure the Mets (if the clubhouse guy was dealing em, why wouldn't he be dealing to some guys in the clubhouse).
-
Is Wynn available? I know he's mediocre but he posts a decent OBP and has done so at a pitchers park (San Fran). I've always thought he was a solid enough player. He obviously doesn't make the team a world series contender but he would fill the hole of getting someone who can get on base atop of the order and he is capable of playing CF (albeit he isn't an amazing CFer).

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) Its now being reported the Sox actually bid higher than the Cubs for Fukudome. Wow...it really sucks that they lost out on him if that is the case.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) The Bananas in Pyjamas. I don't even want to know how I sounded like Bananas in Pajamas. To be honest I had no idea that show was still on TV. I do remember the commercial for the show when I was a kid though.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) Maybe he was actually trying to turn into B1 or B2? I hear those 2 get all of the ladies. What the hell is B1 or B2? I clearly have no idea where you guys are going with my post.

Oh in all seriosness, I'd say the Indians. Tigers are over-rated.
-
Bottom line is while Hamilton had ridiculous talent, no one would have ever expected him to come up and play as well as he did after being away from baseball for such an extended period (and having not yet played at a very high level in the minors). Plus you had to worry about whether he'd fall off the wagon (and every team that ever has him will have to worry about that because once an addict always an addict).

QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 02:45 PM) No. Way. Unless Paulie was juicin' in HS. I remember seeing Paulie play in the state tourney his Sr. year of high school and he blasted one half way up the center field wall at Peoria Sports Complex (if anybody's been there you'd know)...and all I could say was..."DAMN"! Jesus....that is like 460 feet.
-
Oh and I'm sure there will be at least a couple guys that somehow made there way onto the Sox. I do not think any long term Sox will get listed and there is only one long term Sox that I would be remotedly concerned about being listed (and it would be sad if it was). Than again, if it weren't for the whole level playing field, I really would give a damn about whether players juiced or didn't juice.
-
I won't speculate but I am pretty damn positive we will see one person on that list and that person was one of the worse closers the Sox ever had. Good guy though.
