  1. Swisher is signed through the 2011 season with a club option for 2012. Below is a quote from Williams on the trade: “Nick is a quality switch hitter who consistently gets on base, hits for power and drives in runs,” Williams said. “He gives Ozzie Guillen offensive flexibility with his ability to hit in a number of spots up and down the batting order, and his athleticism allows him to play any outfield position or first base. Nick brings to the ballpark a mix of hard-nosed play, energy and a commitment to winning, and he brings it each and every day. He’s a great addition to our team and clubhouse.”
  2. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) Dosen't Swisher play CF too? I know when he was in the minors a lot of people thought he'd play center. That said, he's a bigger guy so I don't think he'd have the range for CF. Quentin would be more likely to play CF, imo. This move gives the Sox a huge OBP guy to have near the top of the order and gets them another young position player (although they obviously gave up a couple of there finest prospects). My question is does this make the Sox consider moving one of there veteran bats.
  3. DLS is gone according to my sources. I don't think the radio has said anything.
  4. It is official.....Gio/DSL/Sweeney for Nick Swisher
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) Swish hit .262 but with a .381 OBP last year, 22 dongs, 78 RBI, 36 2B. Sounds like just Sweeney and Gio. I love Nick Swisher. Put him in a smaller park and you'll see that average climb, the power numbers climb, and the OBP stay ridiculously high. In fact, I think he could easily push a .400 OBP.
  6. f***ING YES YES YES!!!! If Gio/Sweeney/DSL are the main guys (I'm adding DSL's name assuming he's gone) I'd be freaking thrilled with this move.
  7. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) Did you see the shots he was taking? Pulling s*** out of his ass. 5 straight threes in a minute. Wow, what a display, glad to get the W though. It sucks cause he is the only semblance of offense on the squad. He's an awesome shooter though, would have loved to had Tyler Smith playing with him and Iowa may have been able to at least get to the NIT. I'll really be stunned if they win more than 3 big ten games.
  8. Gosh darn it...a win agains the Hoosiers would have practically made my season. Only lost by 3 and sadly that is a moral victory given how bare Iowa's cupboard currently is (especially now that they lost there freshman Cole for the season). I sure hope Lick can get things turned around because had Alford stuck around Iowa was going to be in position to be pretty bad ass (given the recruits alford had lined up). That said Lick seems to be a pretty good in-game coach and I just hope he can recruit at Iowa.
  9. God damn it....the Hawks finally come into town and I have tickets for Friday's game and it looks like I won't be seeing Toews (my favorite Hawk) and I'll get to see 18 zillion minor league hacks on the defensive end. I hope they are healthy when I see them again in late February in Anaheim. Either way I'm excited to see the Hawks play on Friday
  10. QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) they said that the guy coaching this game right now was headed to mich after the game was over. There is a possibility that WVU will keep him and name him as there head coach. He impressed me with based on how well he has handled the media given the circumstances. Good god...Devine is ridiculous. Its crazy how good they will be if White/Slayden stick around another year as Devine will be just as explosive. WVU is fun to watch.
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 2, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) really? I didnt know that, so are they setting up something like an ESPN headquarters West? Yep, its going to be freaking awesome. It is going to be right next to Staples Center with a full west coast headquarters.
  12. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) If we're going to lose by that score I wish Mendenhall would have had 20 carries for -5 yards. f***, he's totally gone now... This offense will struggle more than people realize without him next year, Juice cannot carry this offense. I want Mendenhall on the Bears in the 2nd round, unfortunately I don't know if he will last that long after today's performance. I also want to thank the Illini for helping me win my only bet of bowl season
  13. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) Who is then? OSU: lost to ILL. LSU: lost to Arkansas who got killed by Mizzou. Booty broke his finger during the Stanford game. When healthy, I am not sure any team is better than USC. Maybe Georgia. I'd love to see Georgia, USC, OU all in a playoff with LSU and Ohio State (don't ask me how you do it) but those 5 teams you could argue are the top team in the country. I hate to put Ohio State on the outside but the first three teams I listed are my top 3 (in no particular order).
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) There's a woman or two that would debate Seau's classiness. I have no idea if there is a bigger story that I don't know, but I'm pretty sure there is a women somewhere that would debate my classiness or your classiness or anyone's classiness let alone a professional athlete who is probably (even if married) getting with countless girls a month (in there cases depending on the player per day or per week).
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 29, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) She's only 5 weeks old. All he needs to be sure of is that the bottle makes it in her mouth and the diaper into the trash. Exactly....thats far more than Krush should ever be counted on for
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) In Pasadena unable to drink since I'm on coumadin, but with the game being the next day I have no desire to feel like s*** on the 1st anyway, so I guess it works out. Nice, you'll get to see the Illini whooping up close and in person.
  17. Oh and I'd love to see the Bulls get rid of Ben Wallace. I wouldn't care at all what they took back because I feel his offensive inabilities have really stifled this team (in the sense that he completely kills any offensive momentum and really allows other teams to have 5 guys guarding 4 (and at times with the ineptness of the Bulls low post game you can practically have 5 guys guarding 3 of the Bulls players).
  18. I'm hoping Gordon's play off the bench will parlay to increased trade value and the Bulls will make a swap that gets them some more talent. I really want the Bulls to turn into a high octane, up tempo offensive team (ala Suns because I really think TT and Noah would really flourish in that sort of system, plus Deng/Hinrich both seem to be solid fits for it). Gordon technically is a solid fit as well as he is quick, but defensively he is weak and he is a poor passer as I feel those run and gun systems need to have multiple guards that are decent shooters and great passers. I'd really like to see the Bulls move Nocioni and Ben Gordon (and I'm a Noc fan). Maybe not in the same deal, but in a couple seperate deals. I like the new up tempo mentality Boylan is preaching too.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 30, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) The O-line doesn't break tackles. Apparently you haven't noticed, but that has more to do with the Bears piss poor tackling that has occurred all season. That said, I was impressed with the way the Saints rookie back played (I already like him a lot more than that prick Bush).
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 29, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) To each their own I guess. I prefer a class organization that still wins all of the time. Throw in the fact that the Colts had a bevy of injuries against NE and for much of the season, and I still think it's anyone's game when they meet up in Foxboro. Manning still had his 49 in 15 games, which Brady did not, but Tom can keep the record. I'd still rather have Peyton and we have just as good of a shot to upset the Patriots as anyone. It should make a difference with Harrison, Sanders and Gonzalez back. Brady, Seau, Troy Brown, Bruschi are just a few of the complete class acts that have been inovlved in the Patriots organization. You can say what you want about the coach but lets not act like the team is full of a bunch of thugs or pricks that play the game, the Pats have tons of classy players/individuals and they have busted there ass to get to this point and deserve all the credit as well. The Colts are a class organization, no doubting that, but I'm not going to let spygate tell me that the Pats aren't a quality organization as well.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) Ya, so Juno rocked my socks off. What a fantastic movie. I saw it last night as well and enjoyed the hell out of it. That girl should win actress of the year awards.
