  1. The next Soriano at the plate. This pitcher is over-throwing and can't find the zone. He looks awful. And now he's not even finishing his pitches.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) The best way to make absolutely certain that Rob Mackowiak never plays CF for the Chicago White Sox again is for Rob Mackowiak to never play for the Chicago White Sox again. He's a nice tool to have around...but good lord, every time I see his name in the lineup, after last season, I'll be swearing to myself, even if it wasn't his fault. No offense, but that is the dumbest reason to get rid of a player I've ever seen.
  3. Wow, Sweeney looked like a big leaguer that AB. He fouled off some pitches and than just had a beautiful opposite field stroke off a left handed pitcher. God I love Sweeney. He's gonna be GOOOOOD.
  4. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) can this Paulo Orlando guy hit? Or does all he have is speed? He was pretty highly touted as a signing out of Brazil. Well highly touted for our system. Started off pretty hot last year but IIRC he faded as the season went on. So he's what I'd call a project. Supposed to be fast though.
  5. Nice job by Fields going the other way on that pitch as well. He didn't even hit it that hard.
  6. Heath is looking good. Kalapse, new question...I have my screensave off on the laptop but after 5 minutes or so my connection to the tv stops and I have to touch the pad on the laptop to get the picture back on the tv. Is there a way to just let it stay on without me having to touch the mouse pad every few minutes.
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) Whatev, Seacrest. Oh don't worry, I noticed that change...you didn't stump me on the whole seacrest out.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) No, it's not going to hurt your TV. You are my hero. I think of you as the walking encyclopedia of Soxtalk, a better version of the Schwami, haha.
  9. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) DJ: "good throw by Anderson, a little high" as it sails WAAAAAY over the catcher's head. It was a cannon though. I was impressed.
  10. Kalapse or anyone...one thing I want to make sure, do I risk any damage or anything to my tv by using the laptop and hooking it through it. I assume not, but I just want to make sure. I do not have a plasma, if that makes a difference either way. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) The sun is shining out into LF. Jason, find me a TalkBigTen banner. I don't even know what the hell that site looks like, haha.
  11. Erstad has played good this spring. And yes...mlb.tv finally working properly. My computer must be f***ed up cause I switched to my laptop and hooked up to the tv and I've had zero lag. Horrid quality on the tv but s*** I'll take it.
  12. Great play and that was not a bad inning, aside from Beltre's ball there wasn't a hard hit in the inning and I didn't see Russel give up any hard hits period. He looked real good, varied velocity but he definitely still needs to work on that slider.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) I'm having absolutely no problems with it right now. I'm pissed, I just tested my bandwith while I'm streaming to boot and it is 3447 kbps (420 is the recommended for the 350 too)...yet half of the pitches, the thing freezes up and than I just get to see the guys field. I am ready to throw s***.
  14. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) can you increase the picture size for yours? Ever since I got the new windows media player, I can't or just don't know how. Ya, down in the left part of the mlb video thing there is a button that lets you go to full screen. Too bad half the f***ing pitches I don't see, I just hear the bat crack and than it pans to the players fielding. And my connection is plenty fast so that ain't the issue. Great to know mlb hasn't solved s***. This is the exact reason I hated mlb.tv the past couple years, half the f***ing time you don't even get to see the game.
  15. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Ramirez is looking good. Everyone was saying that the Ramirez for Soriano trade was a bad one for Seattle, but Ramirez can really help out their rotation. I was always a Horacio Ramirez fan. I'll take the lefty starter when healthy over Soriano but i was one of the very few that said that and I'd admit its a risky as hell deal. But in general, give me the starter over the reliever. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) If Harcio Ramirez were on our ballclub he would have been tagged by the opposing team. He appears to be nothing more than another soft tossing lefty responsible for giving our lineup fits. I don't know if his stuff has detiorated from when he first came up with the Braves but Horacio would pile up the strikeouts and give up very few hits (had problems with control) but he would kick some butt and than always get hurt.
  16. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) So you got it up? Ya, I still hate mlb.tv though. I really do, the quality is s***. The 700K better work good during the regular season.
  17. f***ing mlb.tv won't work for me for some f***ing reason. Got I hate this s***. Thankfully your link just saved me from throwing my computer.
  18. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) That last breaking ball he threw was filthy. Flash...you'll see why I think he's quite possibly the biggest sleeper in the org. He's got some gas on his fastball, throws from multiple arm angles, and has a few breaking balls (albeit they are far from polished and I think the multiple arm angles has probably hurt or at least hampered the growth of his breaking balls to a point), and the protypical pitchers frame.
  19. I am freaking pissed...why is this game not on mlb.tv. If it is a comcast game shouldn't we be able to get it on .tv. BOOO MLB...BOOO.
  20. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) Broadway is a poor man's Garland, at best. If I'd compare any of our arms to Jon Garland it would be Gavin Floyd. I don't really have any great comparisons for Broadway...Id' say at his best an old version of Mussina (ie the lower velocity Mussina, not the power Mussina from his Oriole's days). McCulloch, well its just way too early but I'd guess at his peak someone like Brad Radke. Josh Fields - Joe Crede (offensively I think they have very similar tools and defensively Fields has a lot of nice tools too but its hard for me to say he'll be as good as Crede; both had pretty long swings at similar stages in there career). That said I can buy a bit into Fields swing being similar to that of Rollins, albeit by no means am I comparing the two and I must admit I'm starting like Josh more as a prospect. Gio - poor man's Barry Zito isn't too terribly off but I don't think he'll ever have that curve nor do they have even comparible body types. I'd go more along the liens of a healthier Jim Parque. I say that in the sense that I always thought Parque, when healthy, was a pretty solid pitcher. Danks - Scott Kazmir, minus a bit of velocity. That may seem like an odd comparison but I like Danks a lot and while he doesn't have Kazmir's velocity and they don't have similar repetoires I think they look similar on the mound and I think Danks has some deception to his fastball. I'm a big Danks fan. Either way I actually think we have some guys that should be fun to watch develop. Oh and Ryan Sweeney....Garret Anderson and I think you'll see Sweeney have similar progression where he begins as an average hitter with little HR power and eventually learn to turn on selected pitches and develop 20-30 HR power. Oh and Sweeney will be 100 times the defensive player Anderson was. Biran Anderson - Torri Hunter or Torri Hunter lite, depending on how his offense comes along. Both had horrendous swings at similar stages of there careers although I am one to admit I haven't seen many guys with Anderson's talent look as brutal as him at the plate. He's singlehandedly had some of the worse AB's at the major league level that I've ever seen out of a guy who actually had plenty of time in AAA (at least by a legitimate prospect. Note: I'm making these comparisons as if they live up to pretty much there fullest potential. And I'm not implying whether I think that will happen or not.
  21. Brandon Wright looked real good. He is on my radar for a guy I wouldn't mind on the Bulls. He needs to add weight but he has some nice low post moves.
  22. you guys may be screwed because NC State is making some kind of comeback. Well UNC is going close this out barring some sort of miracle which makes bubble teams breath a bit.
  23. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) For comparison's sake Illinois has: 1. Better RPI 2. Better SOS 3. 2-1 Head to head over Indiana 4. More Big Ten wins 5. 7-3 in their last ten over 5-5 6. Better on the road (9-7 vs 5-10) 7. 3 more wins overall Indiana has: 1. More signature wins 2. Less losses Not as close as it seems. If there is one thing I've learned over the past couple years is how much signature wins matter.
  24. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) Standford beat UCLA, Wash St., Oregon, those are good wins. All three of those wins are better than any one win Illinois had. That is why you will have people considering Stanford. Bottom line it pays to schedule and play good teams and no it wasn't Illinois fault fully as the big ten in general was weak but they didn't exactly have a top notch non conference schedule this year. I still say Illinois probably in because I think they have a good enough resume. The only reason I'm against Illinois and Purdue is because I think a lot of the wins are thanks to playing in a terrible conference and having a lot of wins against cake teams.
  25. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) Not really sure what the deal is with anyone having Stanford over Illinois. But we shall see. Well I am not saying Stanford deserves it over Illinois but I will tell you Stanford is the better team. They played in a far superior conference and have quite a few bigger/better wins and there big struggles game with there best player out and he will be back. That said I know that in the end its what you done that matters but if two teams are left they may just go down to whose the better of the two and no one is going to tell me Illinois is a better team than Stanford.
