  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) Whoa, now. If we have Pelfrey in our possessions and are dead-set on acquiring Crawford, his ass is staying put. McCarthy is in that deal with Fields. And I wouldn't be surprised if Williams added Sweeney to place us over the top. I agree. At the same time if we get Pelfrey, the first thing I'd do is ship Brandon to Tampa for Crawford if we could make it work. I don't want Bmac/Pelfrey in the same rotation unless we've significantly upgraded a boatload of other areas (including the front 3 of our rotation).
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) I know it's a sin to discuss mainstream in this thread, but what are people's thoughts on +44? I'm digging it; it reminds me a lot of Blink. +44 is definately solid. But right now I'm totally infatuated with the latest My Chemical Romance CD. I liked there first but this one is a lot lot better.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) Giving up a pair of 1's to take him instead of Chris Paul is still an epically stupid draft day move. If Deron Williams becomes the best player he can be, he'd only still be maybe equally as good as Chris Paul. And you gave up a pair of 1's to take him over Paul. Just not smart. I love Deron though, with that said, and am glad to see him off to such a great start. He is a very good player. Deron has absolutely no chance of being as good as Chris Paul (Paul has a great ceiling and is already lightyears better than Deron). I like Deron too, but that was an idiotic move the Jazz made.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) At the old job I never got docked. I know it was mainly because of tenure. I was out more than 15 days the month Joey was born and in the hospital and until his passing and never was charged with a sick or vacation day. Ya, in those cases those are family emergencies and you are allowed additional time off. I think like 2 weeks (and if you need more thats cool too, but at that point I think you wouldn't be getting paid). After reading a lot of other posters stories I'm feeling real good about my companies benefits. 30 plus days off without having any requirements for tenure or anything.

    ING Direct

Ya, I use ING and am getting just over 5% on my savings. I still don't exactly know how cause I get a higher rate than a lot of my friends that use ING.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Director commentary fit everything together. I don't know your interpretation, but most people --including myself -- seem to believe that Gyllenhal avoiding the airliner's engine tampered with the natural order of the universe. He was supposed to die, and because he averted death, the entire fabric of space was jeopardized. Anothere explanation I hear people mention is the entire film was merely a prophetic dream, and Gyllenhal smiled in his bed because he was relieved it wasn't real. I'm going to be rather prophetic myself right here and guess you bringing Donnie Darko is entirely due to the latest XBOX360 commercial featuring the REM song. I can't be the only one who heard it during the promo for "Gears of WAr" and immediately thought of the movie. Ya I thought of Donnie Darko the first time I heard that commercial too.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) hahahahahahaha, you're awesome. Ahhh....the beauty of not proofreading my post. I wrote it in backwards for whatever reason in my post but on the test I answered it right. And I'm glad my grammar is the butt of all your jokes...thank god I'm an accountant and not a writer.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) Pfftt... your folks spent all that money on college for nothing! Hmm.... perhaps I should get in on this plan. Ya, it is an easy 1000 buck profit, imo. Could be even more. All in staying up/camping out for a few hr's. That said people are gonna probably have to get in line pretty early to get it. I've hired someone to wait in line for me before I get off work (for free too, lol....its the beauty about having friends owe you a favor) to help improve my chances.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) What do your companies do when you use up all your sick days and have to take off? In my case we are allowed to go negative up to a point. And obviously if we don't catch it back you end up kind of buying those days. Since I accrue almost a day off every two weeks (something like 7.2 hr's) early on if I wanted to go on vacation for like a week or do something I would be able to go negative and earn them back. But so far I'm up just over 4 days earned since the start of September...WOOT. Considering I don't have anything scheduled till spring training I should have a nice collection for taking off time to head on some summer vacations when I shouldn't be as busy.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) I just started my job and after my probationary period is over, I start to accrue time beginning in January. I get 18 days of PTO my first year and 11 holidays where the office is closed. Pretty frickin sweet. Indeed, speaking of which sometime this week I'm gonna get off my ass an email you about spring training.
  11. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) I hope Kenny only deals for proven and effective pitchers, starting and relieving. By the way, anyone know the most innings BMac has logged in a season? Seems like he's a prime candidate for an August fade. He had a nice steady progression in the minors in terms of innings pitched but that was ruined with us using him awfully out of the pen.

    The OC?!

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) No worries. LB is on Wednesday's and is rerun 88,341 times on the weekends for those that miss the first run.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) I'm considering attempting to buy one and then selling it, seems like they are going for a ton. I am doing the same. I'm gonna make some calls tomorrow Brian and than I'll shoot ya back what I find out (in terms of camping out and what stores have the most coming). Its gonna be hella hard though. I wish I didn't have work cause than I would camp out earlier and make 100% sure that I'd get one.
  14. QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) Mary wasn't immaculately conceived according to traditional Christian beliefs, Jesus was. Although Mary DID immaculately conceive. How do you think you did on the its/it's one? I have absolutely no doubt I got it right. My grammar sucks but shockingly I typically do very good on verbal portions of standardized tests. I typically know the rules, but just don't follow them in my day to day typing. Its = it is It's = posessive
  15. For some reason I still don't think Jose Contreras has a no trade this year, but I know Gene has posted otherwise (and usually he's right 99.9% of the time on stuff like that).
  16. Smarties. I didn't even know what a hanging modifier was let alone how to look for it. 74% for me. I think I screwed up the emaculate conception (isn't it Mary???), the hanging modifier and I honestly don't know what the other one I missed was.
  17. Interesting. I was hoping the Angels would win. They were apparently pretty big players in the sweepstakes.
  18. I know a lot of larger companies are switching to PTO which combines your sick days with vacation days and you can kind of take them whenever. I'm pretty stoked cause I get 23 PTO, 8 holidays, plus 4 office holidays (which are chosen by the top management our individual company locations). And we are encouraged to use every single one of those days throughout the year.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Tillman had a huge game, though it's unlikely that he'll actually recieve any props from the local media/Bears fans for his outstanding performance today. He thrives in games when he goes against a physical WR. We just need to have coaches smart enough to make sure they put Vasher on the quicker guys or if Tillman is on a speed guy make sure you give him safety help.
  20. It be nice if the Jays had interest in Josh Fields and one of our aging starters.
  21. Wow...dirty ass hit on Houshmazada. He has to be concussed. Big penalty by the Chargers.

    The OC?!

They had an episode on Wednesday this week but its on Thursdays still.
  23. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) Thank god you put this is your sentence.. I think what makes him the best is how great he is all around (not only is he great around the goaline, not only can he break big runs at any point and take it to the house, but he is also a top notch receiver out of the backfield). Oh Marshall Faulk had a couple years where he was ridiculous himself (in the all around stage).
  24. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) Easily the best in the NFL. Sorry LJ. Indy wins by 1. A-Train with another good game. Sucks he can't find a team to make him their #1. I don't think it was ever debatable aside from a few stupid fantasy league people that picked LJ. LT is the best running back in NFL history (as of this stage of anyone's carees). I have no idea how long he'll stay on top of his game or if he'll suffer a serious injury or anything like that but he is the best I've ever seen. Bhahaaa....TJ Houshmanada drops a first down pass and the Bengals have to punt.
