  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) Roger Bossert just screwed up BIG TIME. Who is Roger Bossert, I've seen this name mentioned a few times.
  2. Javy makes the necessary pitches. I like the fact he's went to the bigger leg kick, but I think he'll have to mix in his lower one just a bit to ensure that runners don't get insane jumps on him. But I had no problem with him focusing on Punto instead of the runner cause the last thing I wanted was Mauer up.
  3. Walk and we have runners on the corners with Punto coming up. The runner got to 3rd on what I'd deem a passed ball.
  4. Ump is calling them off the outside corner for both teams.
  5. Tyner really hit a nice FB by Vazquez ( good piece of hitting). I've immediately noticed that Vaz is throwing different with a runner on. We'll see if he switches things up from time to time, but he's using a full leg kick with the runner on.
  6. Javy is one kind of pitcher with no one on, another with runners on. The key is have Coop and Vaz finally figured out a plan to help correct Javy when runners are on. I really think they are close and at one point tonight we may find out. Now lets get Javy some runs.
  7. QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) You can't assume anything when health and Lumsden are in the same sentence. Lumsden has a history of injury problems too. So we gave away a pitcher with nasty stuff, who's a couple years away, for a pitcher with nasty stuff who's ready. What's the big deal? One injury doesn't really mean a history of arm trouble, but I don't think you can assume anything when it comes to prospects but at the same time I can't assume MacDougal will stay healthy when he's had a few different arm problems.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Yeah. He pitched an inning and a third against the Rangers this past Friday. I know he gave up atleast one HR. Yep, that was the only hit he allowed.
  9. Who cares, we just need to take care of business. We control our own destiny and it would be huge for us to win this series against the Twins.
  10. Broadway, Whisler, Harrell, Russell, McCulloch, Liotta (pitched good on the road, but man did he stink at the Met and was obviously demoted), quite a few decent younger arms down in the lower levels that will take a lot more time and well anything can happen with those guys. Sean Tracey should be mentioned as well. Following the deadline we'll be doing a mid-season top 20 too. We were going to do it before, but figure its best to wait and see who else goes.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Congrats to you on that. I personally like hearing from anyone who has any sort of info they believe to be true. I agree and from talking with many posters on this site I can tell you that there are a good variety of people that have some sort of sources. Obviously just because you have a source doesn't mean you'll know something all the time since sometimes your source may be closely involved with something other times they won't. Either way I think one of the things that sets this site apart from others is that there are a lot of people who have a person in the "know" and I'm glad they are willing to share that sort of info.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Gload in RF tonite, Dye gets a rest. Good idea, he could use it and Ross gives the team a little more small ball oriented dynamic which I think could help give the team a bit of a spark. Oh, Javy will toss a gem tonight.
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) LMAO! Flash, you need to stop. I think you're a good poster and all, but you can be ridiculous at times. 95% of your posts are about how garbage our farm is. Now you're whining about this deal? You're a Lumsden fan all of a sudden? LOL. Just stop. In Flash's defense he's liked Lumsden for quite some time now. Just like I liked (and raved about) Chris Young for quite some time and was very dissapointed that we moved him in what I called a questionable deal for Vazquez.
  14. You guys discuss grammar...yet the owner of that site has some of the worse posting grammar on this whole site (ME). What matters with FS is making sure we report the facts and do our homework because the last thing I ever want is for us to say something about a guy (in terms of factual stuff like velocity or stuff) and be wrong. When we don't know, we ask.
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) but not contrary to what we have heard in teh rumors....the fact is this....mccarthy in all probability will do an equal job to vazquez or garcia...the sox have enough off days the rest of the year to skip spots in the rotation where a 5th starter only really has to pitch like 3 times before rosters expand in sept.....the As are in first, so zito probably isnt goin anywhere, the giants are .5 out, so schmidt is staying, willis probably wont be dealt.....therefore the best names on the market are livan hernandez, rodrigo lopez and freddy/vazquez....a team like the mets will be willing to part with good prospects (most certainly not milledge or pelfrey, but probably humber etc) and those guys could be moved for soriano The Sox have long said they aren't planning on skipping the 5th spot. They know there starters have been worked hard and they aren't about to put anymore work on them. As far as Brandon goes, no, I don't know that he could pitch better than Javy/Freddy because its will take Brandon about a month to get up to being able to throw 100 pitches so for a months time we risk having to go to the pen before the 5th inning which puts us in a bind for not only that game, but for future games as well.
  16. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Jason, Any reason why you are so high on Lumsden? No one seems as high on him as you seem to be. I'm quite curious. Who would no one be? He rates as the Sox #2 prospects as far as I'm concerned (behind Fields) and I guess you could argue Broadway being with him. I know the Sox thought pretty darn highly about him and I have no doubt the Royals absolutely love him. Great fastball, real solid curveball and his change has came a long way. He gets good movement on all his pitches and does it all from the left side. This doesn't even begin to speak about his mound presence and pitching smarts which are both "outstanding".
  17. Mac will be the long guy (although I'm not much of a Riske fan, especially as of late) unless Kenny gets blown away in a deal or one of our starters gets hurt. Next year Mac will join the rotation.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Jason ... why would the White Sox trade one of their starters? They finally have the bullpen set up, and in McCarthy a very good insurance policy. Pods and prospects makes sense but trading a starter goes against everything KW has talked about all season. I'm not saying they would...rather commenting on the Mac, Jurko rumor. I don't see us moving a starter from the major league level (and that includes Brandon) and I know the Sox feel very good about Javy. I actually like our squad fine even if we don't make a deal, especially if MacDougal stays healthy.
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) seriously, that would be highway robbery. To me that kinda sounds like maybe the radio was shootin out a long shot just to maybe keep people listening. Not necessarily. Vaz has been dominant in the NL in the past and my guess is they think he could come in and do more of the same while Pods could be a versatile leadoff man for them who fits the NL style of baseball much more fitting. Not saying he's better than Soriano, but if they would prefer major league help they would be getting exactly that in a Soriano move. They replace Soriano with a decent leadoff hitter (albeit one thats not near as explosive) and get a guy thats been an all star type pitcher in the NL.
  20. Let me try changing that stuff once all this sox news slows down, lol.
  21. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) If what fathom says in true, then we could pretty much end all speculation about flipping Soriano somwhere else... unless the Sox are also interested in selling a bunch of merchendise in the next few days. More specifically I think it would mean that we'd be moving Pods somewhere else who I do think has value. I just don't know what the club would look for.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Agree. There are 6+ more days left and this story will continue to evolve. Regarding the no trade clause, the White Sox gave Garland one for one year and also Contreras but they are not inclined to give one for the length of a contract or an extension. They love having flexibiity and I think it's a good way to do business. If the hangup is simply contract stuff, and the Sox truly want to get this done, they have one of the best in the business ... Rick Hahn. Hahn is a great one for getting to the win-win and getting things done. If they really get him done, I think you'll see some sort of trade kicker clause with Soriano getting a bonus if he's moved. It gives the Sox flexibility while Soriano at least gets some sort of reward if he's moved. But its really going to be interesting to see this all play out. Its all happening so fast right now that I think we'll see things make a lot more sense relatively soon. Oh, if he contract stuff is true, than Pods is either a part of the deal or on his way out because from what I know they have zero plans of using him in CF.
  23. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Anybody? Can't say, been so busy trying to keep up with whats going on, but I swore one was elbow related and my geuss is the most recent one is as well.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) WTF give it to him. If we don't get him over a no-trade clause I will be pissed. It could be one of those things where its leverage at this point and it could be re-explored at a later date. I could buy into this, but it also means that they were able to have discussion's with Soriano's agent and from what I had heard the Nats were not letting teams do that. Its going to be interesting to see what happens and this cool down may very well be a negotiating ploy and if Bowden doesn't seem the offers get stepped up from elsewhere, he may be coming back to Kenny. Plus Kenny has long been known as a guy who gets other teams to come to him after they get there best offer and in which case Kenny often times can up the offer if he sees fit.
  25. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) Jason, I believe there's a big poker game going on. Further I think KW will make one more move at least. I completely agree and I think this really is the beginning of the trade season. I'm also sure KW is already on the horn with other teams seeing what he could potentially spin Soriano off for (well maybe not on the horn, but putting out feelers and finding out what other teams offers are so he could see if maybe guys the Nats don't need are potential needs for the Sox) while at the same time he may have feelers out for Pods, who I know management has been frustrated with at times this year.
