  1. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) As an NU fan, the only teams I really see them having any chance of beating the rest of the year are Minnesota and PSU, and even Penn State already beat us on our own floor. You simply can't underestimate our innate ability to go long periods of time without scoring any points. I've thought that in the past, but you guys find a way to beat the Hawks, like heads said...its what you do.
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 08:34 AM) IU's going to have a new lineup tonight. Sunday it was talked about Strickland running the point, and it didn't happen. It will tonight. PG-Strickland SG-Vaden (Vader for Jason) SF-Wilmont PF-Allen/Kline C-Killingsworth That Darth Vader is a player
  3. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) IA and WI enjoy a huge scheduling advantage by playing all four BT bottom feeders on the road. IL and MSU play only two of them on the road. In sum, IL and MSU started the season with a two game deficit on IA and WI. Big win tonight, as IL picks up two clicks on Wisky. That said, here is an updated look at the projected order of finish should the top seven teams win out on respective home courts and on the road against the bottom four. Team Wins Losses Remaining Road Games IA 12 4 PU, NW, IN, MN, IL IL 11 5 OSU, MI, MN, MSU MI 11 5 PSU, IA, PU, MSU, OSU MSU 11 5 NW, MN, IA, IN WI 11 5 PU, PSU, NW, MSU, IA IN 10 6 WI, PSU, IL, PU, MI OSU 10 6 IA, MN, WI, MSU, NW Its not gonna be that easy for IA to just win out at home. We still play MSU who whooped our asses and that said I'm scared and pretty much ready for the team to lay a total egg against one of the bottom feeders. Afterall, its why they play the games. That said, I'd love it if your projection worked out.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Illinois won. Lol, I was just posting that exact same thing. And ya how bout that Big 10, MVC. Its ridiculous how many teams are so high in the RPI between those two conferences.
  5. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Chandler and hinrich? Nice games. The first half the mavericks shot out of their minds. The second half the bulls were just playing smothering defense. To be down by 30 and come back to only lose by four is a feat in itself. I will take holding the mavericks to 40% shooting considering they normally shoot 46%. The bulls had 14 turnovers to their 13 but they were much sloppier than the numbers indicate. Ya, it was a very impressive comeback and had they protected the ball at all in the 1st half they'd have won this game. They also really picked up the defensive intensity in the 2nd half. The mavs should great in the 1st half but they were also getting tons of easy buckets (of course many of those came on fast breaks, which were due to turnovers and just sloppy ball handling). Still I love how the Bulls didn't quit. I'm hoping for .500 on this road trip, but I got a sneaking feeling that they may do better. A .500 trip would be real nice though.
  6. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) I can drink beam and cokes all day and all night and never get sick of em. Ill mix vodka but I don't drink it straight. I love SoCo and coke too (try mixing it with root beer). Gin tastes like pine trees, tequila is gross and sour but I'll drink shots of it if offered (or hammered and feeling manly). The funny thing about vodka is that the whole point of it is that it's colorless, odorless, tasteless, and people say they can only drink Grey Goose or other expensive stuff (I think vodka has become trendier than tequila honestly). Well there's no difference to me, I'll drink Popov or Rubinoff or whatever cheap handle is on sale. I can vouge....the man can handle his booze, especially the bud light.
  7. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) I like Soco, or some absolute, tough decision. Perhaps even some baccardi SoCo is one thing that just makes me want to throw up. Tastes like cough syrup.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Yeah, that is why I cannot access this site at work (but yet most other message boards I frequent I can get in without issue). That damned surfcontrol is actually causing me a great deal of issues when I try searching the internet to answer a customer's question. Maybe we can figure out what surf control blocks and clean it up so it gets through. I know there was a while where Soxtalk didn't get blocked on like any work firewalls.

When I surf from anywhere but home, I make sure av's and sigs are off.
  10. Soon you will see a few more Chicago Sports forums like this one popping up. Hopefully the Bears one will be up in the next month or so and than a Bulls and Blackhawks one eventually. If anyone is interested in moderating and helping us getting members at these forums, please shoot me a PM. You'd obviously have to be dedicated in helping to attract members and keeping the site active as the toughest time for a website/forum is the creation when you don't have consistent traffic and posts (therefor the mods will have to do their best to keep the place active). If anyone's interested make sure you send me a PM cause I'd love to give ya the opportunity to help out.
  11. Bulls are getting drubbed. They just look awful. Turnovers galore. I guess if they were going to look bad, tonights the night it might as well happen since I don't think they had much of a shot against Dallas anyway. Bulls have just thrown the ball everywhere (leading to a ton of turnovers and easy fast break buckets already). Plus offensively we look horrid. Malik Allen decided he should take this long ass jump shots and we are missing any open shot that pops up.
  12. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) And Illinois moves into sole possession of first place in the Big Ten. Although, Iowa will join as they take on Purdue tomorrow, I believe. No guarantees. Got the dvr set to record tomorrow's game. I'm pumped that this game is somehow televised.
  13. Ads

Chisoxfn posted a topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm sure at least a few of you have noticed it, cause i've been playing around with the ads a bit today, but I'm making some changes to the layout. If I can figure out how the hell to get the google adsense to pick up the sponsors (for some reason I don't think its picking up the text or something) than I'll have one of those on the top, followed by a graphical ad for the White Sox Picture store. I've noticed at least a few of you have used it so I figure I'll make a little nicer add (a portion of the sales on that site go back to us, which helps pay the bills and will allow us to add some cool new features). There will also be a text link going in the spot of the current link and than as you can see I've added two new spots below the posting area. Hopefully its not very intruisive. My goal of those two other spots is for me to be able and actually get a little sales experience via the site. I've long used this site to help myself grow and do things I haven't done (from getting ocassional press credentials, to actually learning a little something about building a website...despite Gaging it a few times in the process). So if anyone knows of anyone looking to advertise to Sox fans (whether its a local restaurant or a memorbilia shop), please have them shoot me an email at contact@futuresox.com . The ads are priced very moderately, considering the site gets double digits (in millions) of hits per month. I'm hoping that eventually I'll be able to pool together funds to make this place way better (got some ideas in mind) and we've been working on them as well. But I just wanted to make everyone here aware of whats going on. And if anyone ever has any complaints, you know how to get a hold of me (via PM or Email or you can post them here).
  14. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Starting to get excited. If Randle can contain tucker, I think we have a very good shot. But saying that, I'll take a loss ok as long as we don't play "Iowa style" Should I even ask what that means?
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) My wife enjoys vodka. She loves Ketel One, not sure on the spelling. Vodka all tastes the same to me, but I'll have an Absolut with Snapple pink lemonade once in a while. That's like a summer time at a cookout kinda drink. Ketel is also really good. I've had that drink (with the lemonade, except I used some italian lemonade from Trader Joes...whatever the hell that is I don't know) and its tasty. Girly but tasty so what do I care, lol.
  16. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) I think this one oughta be interesting. Drinks involving Vodka. If I had my choice on type it would be grey goose, but unless I'm getting it for free or really cheap, I'm usually stuck mixing it with something.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) ^ ^^
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Right now if you were the White Sox all things being equal, would you rather have Adam Dunn or Jim Thome? Dunn...your way more likely to get the type of numbers he's put up the past couple years. Thats still a major question mark with Thome (whether you like it or not). This is coming from someone who thinks that Dunn is very over-rated in general too.
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) We've found the GM for our all-gangsta team Come on, Its Iowa...don't you associate that with the hood?
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Spidale was regarded highly after 04 but had some regression issues last year and went to WS. It's anybody's guess as to wehre he ends up. He was long thought of as a platoon outfielder at best. He's a good guy and he had a major regression this past year, but he should find himself higher up on the charts now that a few more outfielders are gone (Young in AZ; Anderson in CF and potentially Owens as a 4th outfielder).
  21. I think Heads beat me to it, but its been removed. I didn't realize the stuff was premium but I had only browsed through a couple of the threads. So if any posters ocassionally notice another poster post something along those lines, please shoot us a PM that way we can remove it/edit the thread and allow for the discussion to continue. BA does a great job as do other premium sources and they are entitled to making money on it. Without that we wouldn't have them available and they are by far the best on the net when it comes to being a minor league/draft resource.
  22. Guys I think its pretty clear Ozzie and Kenny plan on having Contreras around. I don't think Kenny was bs'ing when he said he'd have to get a guy that could pencil into the rotation this year and the next few years and would have to be a good starter. Unless he gest that he isn't making a deal. He went on to say nothing like that is on the table and its unrealistic to expect anything. What we see is what we have. Only possibility is if our lefty relievers don't impress (the ones fighting for the final spot) and Kenny goes out and fortifies it with a trade during spring training. I've been wrong before, but I feel very strongly about this and all these Contreras talks are flat out BULLs***. Maybe the other teams want em, but none of them have what Kenny wants.
  23. Amazing...right during finals week. Otherwise I'd be there.
  24. Another big week for Iowa. It starts of on Wednesday (i think its on ESPN 2, so I hope it doesn't get dropped for some other game cause I'd like to watch it). Its in Purdue and while Purdue is definately one of the wores teams in the Big 10, Iowa seems to play down when they play a not so great team. Plus its a road game and I'm sure Purdue will be busting their ass to pull off the upset. Than on Saturday we got a game against Red hot Michigan at Iowa. Thats the type of road win Michigan would love to have and its the type of home game Iowa must win.
