  1. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) The more years this team is together the better ( the core that is). Deng is gonna turn into a special player. You have to figure chandler will stop being the pussy that he is. Hinrich will be the point guard for another four five years. Nocioni could start on many teams is that is always a plus off the bench. This core is the same from last season and no one is gonna tell me eddy curry is/was and will ever be that vital of a piece to a team. The bulls clearly lost the desire to play tenacious defense like last season. I also really like the bench in songo slime... harrington... sweetney ( anyone of them starting here and there for us). Duhon is clearly a nice pg too contrary to what some may thing. I also have no clue who this 7'1 center who is drawing comparisions to shaw is. I know it's not aldridge or bargani... hell there isn't any one seven feet or taller going in the first round. I got to see a little bit of Aldridge today, but is he supposed to be the top pick this year? Anyone that follows him more (I really don't follow the big 12 much) tell us a little more about him? I'm assuming he'd be a hell of a pick for the Bulls, but maybe I'm wrong?
  2. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) The Indiana @ Iowa game is INDEED in HDTV Tuesday night. Let's hope the Hoosiers whip the damned Hawkeyes in the wonderful spectacle of High Definition!!! Ya, I'm pumped. We know crowd noise won't be a factor, but Iowa needs to protect home court big time. They got IU tomorrow and than OSU at home later in the week. Definately a tough stretch and it would be nice for them to start it off by beating Alford's former team.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) Three seasons? The way I figure, for such an event to occur we'd need two good draft picks this season--perhaps to trade for a superstar caliber player. Then next season, hope either the Knicks or us absolutely tank and miraculously draw the first lottery pick. We'd have an opportunity to draft the athletic center (Odem, is it?) whose been drawing comparisons to Shaq. Eastern Conference is weak, but for us to suddenly pull together a championship team we'll need atleast ONE poor season. I think we'd need to find a really good big men to go with Tyson and than we can have Sweets off the bench. Than hope we can sign someone like Peja or trade for someone like Pierce.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) Mostly cause he's not a guy with a high ceiling. I'm a big fan of his cause I like the way he plays but he's not going to crack many of these top 10 lists. Also, you got to take into account that he dominated a league in which he should have last year, so as good as he played he has work to do to impress others. He may with time. Getz is a pretty solid player all around the board. Doesn't wow you in any area, but his overall consistency along with some development (and more experience) should make him a solid prospect. I think he has the ability to crack the top 10 with a good year. Plus our system isn't strong.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Nevermind.. just got the scoop and there's a few of them. Damn.. no "security" stunts this year... Haha, for just a while you may have been harboring a fugitive in your tub
  6. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) I don't think they'll blow them out, i'm mainly just messing with Jason. However, we will win that game. And yes, home court makes a HUGE difference. You probably will...but we gave you all quite the scare last year. I just love messing with ya guys cause if Iowa loses its expected, but if they win (and they have the ability to) than I get to rub it in
  7. QUOTE(G&T @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) This isn't a bad move for the Orioles. Benson isn't very good but it doesn't look like they gave up too much for him. On the other hand, the AL is going to eat him alive. At least they got a pitcher, even if it is a relatively crappy one (and possibly the most over-rated pitcher in the game). He's been living on his high draft status every since he came into the bigs.
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 08:35 AM) The Knights are in Charlotte, SC. This is Charlotte, NC, being discussed as the potential new home for the Marlins. The Knights technically play in like Fort Mills which is right on the border and considered South Carolina, but its only like 10 minutes from downtown Charlotte (15 max).
  9. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 08:20 AM) Does anyone have any idea how the Knights draw in Char. I know it is the minors but it could be a good indicator. Not very well, but on weekends they get decent crowds. IIRC from the times I've been there, they do rank in the bottom portion of IL league attendance. The stadium they have is kind of cool, but also pretty old (at least it seems old). Its over by where the Charlotte Hornets used to practice and by some amusement park (Great America or something).
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 08:15 AM) Brandon Phillips was in the same deal with Sizemore and Cliff Lee though, so they did turn out ok in that one. Ya, considering the Expos pretty much got nothing for Colon from the Sox/Yanks.
  11. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) Now comes word that he'll sit out the year if he doesn't get the money he wants... :headshake :headshake :headshake His agent is obviously a moron. He should have just took that deal with the Mets when they had the chance. On a sidenote, Molina >>>>>>> LoDuca and the Mets could have kept Gaby Hernandez. Freaking idiotic move that was.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) Is there something wrong with this guy that I have never heard about? You know, besides being slow and fat. I don't understand how he can still be a FA. I think he's really good. The catching market was thin this year. No teams really seemed interested. Hell, had Bmore waited they could have signed Hernandez for a few mill less per year. Bengie turned down a 3yr 15 deal from the Mets and its gonna cost him. He's a really clutch hitter and can shut down a running game. Don't know how well of a game he calls, but the Angels staff seemed to do good with him behind the plate (and Sciosc is a master at teaching guys how to catch and won't tolerate lousy catchers). The Angels made a big mistake not offering him arb so they could have kept him (cause Mathis isn't ready and Jose sucks). Dodgers make this move and it may just be the best move they made all off-season. The guys a real good player. In fact, as much as I love AJ, I'd rate Bengie just a notch above him (mainly due to his arm). Plus Bengie is the better offensive player of the two . AJ wins on sheer teammateness and how to call a game though(new word I invented).
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) Did Jas PM you...? There's no reason he needs to drop cash on a hotel room. He's going to be alone... Just shot him the pm
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) 5-2 against the rpi top 50. 10th toughest schedule to date doesn't hurt either. Plus the big 10 has the strongest RPI of all conferences which help. I don't know where Iowa went after the loss to your Spartans, but they were right outside the top 10 in RPI last week as well. Most of the big 10 conference is rated pretty high right now (via RPI).
  15. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 03:50 AM) The Indiana @ Iowa game tomorrow night is on ESPN @ 8:00 CT. the games I listed were CBS games only. Perfect. I prefer ESPN, they actually do the games in HD. Well at least all of the Iowa ones I've watched on ESPN thus far were on HD. Every once in a while I'll see one not, but I assume the Iowa/IU game will be Should be a doozie.
  16. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Put down the bottle Note I said almost any team in the country. But the important thing is, once I get off my lazy ass you'll be sporting a sig as evidence that they could take down one of the best teams in the big ten
  17. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 06:15 AM) So you're saying Lamar should never take more than 15 shots in a game? I don't know what their record is when he does take 15+ shots, but that's sure as hell not the reason why they're only a couple games over.500. All I'm saying is that Kobe can score all the points he wants. Him taking 35+ shots a night is not gonna do anything for his teammates or the success of the franchise in the long run. Jordan figured this out. Kobe's in his tenth season and still doesn't seem to understand that. Lamar blows. He gets boards and is a decent passer, but he's lazy on defense and is a horrific shooter. Kobe's whole team sucks, yet if he stays healthy they will find a way to get into the playoffs. Thats what I call amazing.

QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) I saw 2 pretty random "couple year old" movies today. Behind Enemy Lines - meh, was entertaining, but wouldn't watch it again. Enemy at the Gates - right up there in my favorite war movies of all time. Now i understand all the comparisons that were made when call of duty came out. Enemy at the Gates is one of my favorite all time movies. Just a total bad ass movie. Speaking of movies with Enemy in them, I also really like Enemy of the State (good, entertaining movie).

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) watch the first movie again. See Kraven's reaction when he finds out that she likes a human. Vampires aren't supposed to like Humans in this movie. Every one of them were at one point or another human. Like when the master in the 1st one (Victor???) saved the girl and turned her. There had to be a reason to that. Obviously, later on, we find out she had some important information from her childhood.

QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Vampires can love humans. They just turn them. Also, Michael has no societal pressure against dating whoever he wants. Why? Just because they are 2 groups which fight? The only forbidden love in Underworld was between Lucian and Sonja, and it was due more akin to the child of a white slaveowner being in love with a black slave, not members of 2 rival houses. And again, Michael was never a part of the Lycan clan or the Lycan-Vampire war. Exactly
  21. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) I personally consider this the record for points in a game. Wilt chamberlain was against 6'4 ( on a tall day) unathletic white guys. There is a reason he averaged 50.4 points a game in a season and that is not because he was the best or most gifted player... he was very much so int he right place at the right time. Kobe bryant was ridiculous today and anyone who thinks/says otherwise is foolish and just a pure hater. Most players wouldn't have gotten off the shots he did in the late third quarter and fourth quarter. He is something to watch. Thank you qwerty. I figure you were actually watching the game as well cause anyone that hates on him for that performance is either deaf, dumb or blind (possibly all 3). And I agree with you. It would have been like Shaq going up against a team full of Luke Waltons or Kirk Hinrich's. Its just a totally new era and that was the greatest performance I've ever seen out of an NBA player (now I've seen more clutch performances in bigger games, but tonights game was just insane). In the 3rd quarter when he went on his initial explosion my dad and I just kept looking back at each other (after all his shots) just in total disbelief. This continues and (even as much as I hate Kobe) I was going nuts as he kept scoring and finding a way despite double and triple teams. He's so explosive to the basket and is great at finishing. Plus he can hit pretty much any jumper he takes and has really improved his 3 point shot.
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) Shut the f*** up Adam Haluska. Just like you didn't hear the fans at ISU. Just jealous that he left ISU for Iowa. And yes we did basically beat that team last year. We are capable of beating any team in the Big 10 and almost any team in the country. Doesn't mean we are going to do it. Iowa isn't some piece of s*** team without any skills. They don't play consistent enough and don't have the offense thats needed but they play very good defense (only weakness defensively is an ocassional flaw in transition defense; still one of the best defensive teams in the big 10, imo). Of course I think MSU is one of the best teams in the country.
  23. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 07:50 AM) A few notes for fans of other Big Ten teams outside their viewing areas.... Sunday February 12 Illinois @ Ohio State (noon CT) is being broadcast nationally, but NOT in HDTV. Saturday February 25 Michigan @ Ohio State (12:30 CT) is being broadcast regionally with the opposing game being Louisville @ West Virginia. Neither is in HDTV. The semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament on March 11 and the finals on March 12 will be shown nationally in HDTV. One (non-Big Ten) side note: The Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship Game this year will be broadcast nationally by CBS @ 1pm CT on Sunday March 5. Here is the complete college basketball schedule for CBS for the rest of the season. College Basketball on CBS Cripes...is the Iowa/IU game not on TV? Cause it should be. Thats gonna be a really good game.
  24. Today's game pisses me off like no other. I pretty much knew as long as Alexander was alive, Seattle would whoop Carolina. The thing that pisses me off is that the Bears defense is superior to Carolina's yet our s***ty ass coaching staff (good ole Rivera was busy looking for a job during the bye week; he doesn't deserve to be a head coach just yet) decided they were better than preparing for a team. Stupid ass coaching staff. We should have not only beat Carolina, but beat them good.
  25. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) I agree, it was absolutely disgusting for Toronto to allow this. Once past 70 points, Kobe would have been double--if not triple teamed if I were opposing him on the court. Not to mention the rib shots and hard elbows he'd receive. Stormin' Normin' Van Leer would know what to do.... I assume you guys didn't watch the game (I think I watched all but about 5 minutes of it) and he was getting double and mostly triple teamed the entire 4th quarter. It didn't matter. In this one quick stretch of the 3rd he went totally off though. It was insane. And I hate Kobe, but I'm more than willing to admit he's a hell of a player.
