  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Manny was in the .270-.280 range this season for a while, but was still driving in runs. Thats a solid average. Big difference between Dunn and his .250ish avg.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Fine with me. I was getting tired agreeing with everything else you've had to say anyways... Just wait till Fest...I'll be in a furious mood if Paulie isn't resigned by than.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) I think a mix of both on your team is a great way to go. You need guys to get on base, but you also need guys to be able to get hits and knock runs in. That's why the Damon/Ortiz/Manny trio is so awesome. They all hit for average though.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) Jason, I personally don't put a whole lot of stock into BA. I'll look at slugging and OBP over BA any day. Touche...we'll agree to disagree
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Free agent after next year. But they could play podsednik in left since juan encarnacion is a free agent at season's end. But would there really be a need for three lead-off hitters? Don't worry Ozzie isn't leaving Chicago. This is the only place he'll manage.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) You know, Tejada's numbers are incredibly off the 2nd half of the season. Its cause he's not shooting up with Raffy anymore. And we all know you'd be an steroid attic if you shot up alone.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) How about for Tex? Nope. I'm not trading pitching. Not doing it. Duque and all the prospects they want, but I'm not giving up any of the big 4 or McCarthy. You can never have too much pitching and I'm not going to give pitching to anyone.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) I can care less that he swings for the fences -- he's actually good at it. Very few guys in baseball can put up a .380 OBP while hitting 45+ homeruns and a s***load of doubles. It's worth a whole lot. AVG means something to me.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) You know what my proposed trade is: Contreras, Marte, and Sweeney for Dunn and another player. I swear, if the Sox make that deal I'd go shoot the GM. I would barely give up Chris Young for Adam Dunn, let alone a stud pitcher like Contreras.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) I am sick of people saying that the marlins want out of delgado's contract and the same with beltre. Find me some examples of teams signing players to large 3/4 year deal and immediately trading them the following year. Both beltre and delgado will be on their respective teams next year. I'm sure Beltre will, but there is a lto of talk that Beltre or Delgado will be moved. Its pure economics and it makes no sense for the Fish to continue paying Delgaod the big bucks and let some of there young talent walk away. Plus they are having enough trouble getting a new stadium built.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) I agree that Dunn doesn't execute very well. But I think it's more of a product of his team's philosophy. Just like the way Pods would swing for the fences with everyone else on the Brewers, the Reds team is an all or nothing team also. Maybe your right, but that still doesn't get past what it would cost to get him. You could get Delgado (whose better...although he gets paid more) without giving up the farm.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) And where are you going to play Delgado/PK when we're in interleague? I think Delgado is too big of a bat to have as a DH and same as PK. Neither could play any other positions. YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARDDDDDDDD........YES!!!!!!!! I don't worry about things like that. You have a DH almost the entire season and than when your in an NL park you play the matchups.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) I don't feel like getting into it, but... I strongly -- strongly disagree with your assessment on Dunn. That is all. Told you they'd score some more tonight. Aaron gets it in the air and works wonders But let me ask you this..does Dunn swing for the fences...YES. I don't want anyone that does that. He's a horrid hitter and his OPS/OBP may be great, but he can't handle the bat. Now Manny thats a freaking hitter.
  14. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) adam dunn? he can't play the field. and he whiffs about a million times pass on that. And he'll cost Chris Young, Brandon McCarthy and Robert Valido.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) I think it's possible. One via trade -- Adam Dunn or Chad Tracy. One via free agency -- Nomar. I'll puke if that happens. Nomar = Frank (ie I don't want anyone you can't count on being healthy). Dunn is as over-rated as it gets. Sure he'd be great, but this guy doesn't have a clue how to execute. He went a couple years without a sac fly or something. Pathetic. Resign Paulie..trade for Delgado...keep the rest of the cast in place, add another reliever, deal Duque.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) There better be no damn "smear" campaigns if he does leave. Unless he turns down a 5yr 15 mill per season deal I won't be smearing him. He's one of my all time favorite White Sox. The guy is the epitome of grinder.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) I won't be pissed if he walks, but I'll be pissed if he isn't properly replaced. there is no way the Sox are going to be able to land 2 big time bats in the off-season.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) He just missed it. Ya, and for once Hawk wasn't talking out of his arse when he said that. Paulie has been a bright spot as of late. I'm really glad. I'll be so so mad if he walks during the off-season. I'm sick of how underappreciated he is by a lot of Sox fans.
  19. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Win tonight and clinch a playoff spot? Its possible, but New York and Boston would have to both lose tonight.
  20. I hope the Sox score 4 runs here and make things easier on us all. I also hope Boston and New York both find a way to lose tonight. The hell with the Sox, I need the rest and a couple days off to get my heart checked up for the playoffs, lol.
  21. Lol, just as I type that AJ rips a single.
  22. TB beats the Tribe...now Chicago needs to get 3 more Tiger outs.
  23. Inning ender...yes I should add, for those of you wanting to go to the pen right there it woudl of been the wrong call. Jose has been pitching great, you stick with him and I'm glad Ozzie did. I figure if we can second guess him and have done so a lot lately we might as well give him credit when he makes the right call (and he did).
