They still technically could resign Theis (I think - since over the cap - but I might be wrong cause they probably don't have bird rights). But certainly still have at least one more big swing left (re: Lauri/Thad as assets).

My Laker fan buddies always loved him - I always thought he was overreacted. Presume this is the MLE money and now we are left to the RMLE, minimum deals, and potential S&T's with Lauri (as well as ability to dangle Thad).

Derozan is a better passer, and defender and is nowhere near the shooter - so I think they are decent fits. Both can slash though. Derozan is also pretty good at getting to line if I remember right.

I actually like how the Bulls have used the cap space / roster flexibility here. Operating above the cap is huge - they could go resign Lauri if they wanted to - plus get the MLE for a guy like Rose and the RMLE and than maybe add a Javal McGee as a glue guy late off the bench. I like that usage - or they can pivot Lauri and Thaddeus for other parts they like more (in terms of fit). If somehow they add Derozan - I don't mind the fit - he's a good passer, and can play defense. I know Miami/Lowry are trying to recruit Derozan but I don't know that Miami can offer anything more than the MLE and Bulls could get him more. If you add Derozan and Ball (plus MLE/RMLE) - that is a heck of a lot better passing team and a much upgraded defensive team.

Bulls can sign and trade Lauri to give them more flexibility and than as they will be operating as an over the cap team, I think they have the MLE and the RMLE available. Could one be DRose and the other...I don't know. I also don't know what that means or THeis - but I think it means they can go over the cap to get Theis (just a matter of do they hit luxury tax levels).

This seems to line up with the Demar Derozan S&T.

I'm okay with this risk. He's a good fit and hopefully he can be one of those PG's who took a few years before he really hit his peak (and that peak is to come).

Things getting interesting.

IT sounds like the opposite - Foles isn't looking to get cut. He will either stay in Chicago as 3rd stringer or go to a preferred place that he is comfortable at. He wants to control where his next destination is and the Bears seem to be working with him on that. IF he wants to get cut - he would have made a big stink nad not been the teammate he has been. They will move him - via trade sometime during training camp as teams look to find depth. If not - he will stay with the Bears.

Bulls could still get Lonzo and take on S&T for Lauri. They would need to use Santo and some other contracts in the S&T with New Orleans (just a matter of New Orleans presumably doing its own S&T for the PG it gets).

Report from a NY reporter that Lonzo will sign his restricted contract with Bulls pretty much immediately. Also - evidently Twolves might offer 1st round pick + some contracts for Lauri (not sure who). Both sound intriguing to me.

They won't cut him - unless they are trying to do a solid. With the injuries that will likely happen - Foles is going to get value and just watch the Bears get like a 5th for him. There isn't really any reason to cut him at this point (unless you just think you need to do him that solid).

Lets hope the Bulls surprise us all and the moves they make this off-season pan out and really get the team positioned to be fun, competitive, and have some real upside. Despite my recent pessimistic views - I'll try to be optimistic. At the very least - it should be an interesting offseason for them in terms of people in/people out.

Or someone on the 40 needs to go on the 60 day IL (not sure if there are any potential candidates for that currently on the DL - kind of like what happened with Marshall a week or two ago).

I agree - at this point it is the move they have to make and ball clearly has upside. Risks too but he is a good roster fit. I think key to this franchise flipping to real good is whether one of our two high rookie draft picks can take the next step forward. With a full training camp and another year of development plus time for Vuc to gel - they should be a team that is much improved but with a pretty definitive ceiling barring one of their youngsters leaping forward into stardom/very good status. If that happens - they can be a free agent / superstar destination. Honestly - I kind of think KD might come (not that he is the most likeable guy) but he seems to like bulls and appears tight with Zach.

The question is what does New Orleans do. He is still restricted so New Orleans has to get their guy - they are trying for Lowry and others. Go figure - bulls to point where they take the Pelicans rejects. Not that ball is bad but his contract is going to pay him with hope that he grows quite a bit as a player and if he doesn’t it is a mediocre to poor contract.

Bulls put qualifying offers on Lauri and Dotson...making both restricted free agents. Right move - I still presume Lauri walks but I presume Bulls will either leverage this into a trade or he'll accept the qualifying offer (which I'm okay with).
