  1. LOL - That is a good point too. Cause my parents wouldn't have bought one at the age I was at. When I was moved off - it was still at the point where most of the kids didn't even have catcher's gloves (even though kids were pitching). Its funny - cause my 6 year old plays Pony and they already have catcher's glove despite the fact that it is machine pitch and catcher is still set pretty far off the plate due to some kids having bats fly out of there hands, etc still at this age. Although this summer he is doing some tourneys with Pony (against other cities) and some of these teams have catchers that are already catching everything out of the machine (which is pretty impressive for 5-6 year olds). But I won't have that problem - my son is lefty and he never ever ever wants to play catcher (which is a good call - it is such a brutal position).
  2. So I was moved off of catcher at a very young age - because as a lefty - my throw is impacted when a righty is in a box. For a right handed catcher - the same holds true when a lefty is in the box (ie. it is more difficult). The problem is - majority of MLB hitters are righty (or at least were back in the day - not sure how the trend has shifted) and thus - left handed catchers just didn't exist because a righty has a leg up at throwing guys out a 2B. The one question I have is - with stolen bases going the way of the dodo bird - does that mean you might see more left handed catchers emerge? My guess is still no - because base stealing is still pretty prolific at the college and little league levels.
  3. Marshall has solid stuff and I want to see him get back to what he was last year. Hoping it isn't a serious injury and some time on the DL and maybe a rehab assignment is just what the dr ordered.
  4. I hope his injury isn’t bad.
  5. I don't know why I had forgotten this - but you are right - it was a total stunner. I remember exactly where I was for that and oddly enough I also remember where I was when I heard Magic was retiring (because growing up a Bulls fan in socal - I had many debates with Laker fans at the time re: who was better (and at that point still in MJ's career - MJ wasn't the clear cut winner).
  6. Good call on tonya Harding. That was huge. I also might be biased - but that first dream team was something else (might be because I was a kid at that time - but man was that sweet). Not too 3 - but still that first time seeing all those superstars on one team destroying the rest of the world…yeah that was something else.
  7. I would have Jenner down on my list - just not a big deal to me - but I would put Jordan retiring in his prime to go play baseball very high on my list. Magic is very much #1 for me. The Oakland A's / San Francisco world series with the earthquake is also up there.
  8. RIP - Very sorry for Jerry and all their family and friends on their loss.
  9. I don't think Escobar was as good of a prospect as Burger was - so not sure that It is comparable, however, if you said in hindsight would I make that trade again - ABSOLUTELY NOT. In general - I think the Sox are a team that probably shouldn't buy a lot of rentals given how they manage their organization. They are a team that actually needs to sell its existing players a bit early to keep cupboards full vs. not because if they push all-in, they are really robbing from the future more extensively than other orgs (especially on rentals).
  10. I tend to think like you - if he is healthy - he's going to have a good MLB career. I don't like trading a guy like that for a rental the caliber of Escobar.
  11. Got to imagine he feels pretty good now that fans are back and vaccines are working. I’ve long said - Sox kept some ammo in reserve due to COVID and they are going to be positioned to push more chips in from a financial perspective (whether at deadline or in offseason).
  12. Honestly - I wouldn’t put it past kw to at least make a call down that path. Don’t think Angels bite - but it’s kw.

Who knew it would be Jake not Yermin who ends up being the story of Chicago by the time we get to the summer. I am a big believer in Burgers ability to hit and his mental fortitude to get to this point is super cool. I also think Yermin should be able to hit better than he is - so can't figure out how he got himself so mentally messed up.
  14. Yeah - That was a disaster.
  15. I thought it was absolutely stellar.
  16. The benefit of picking way later because team is good!
  17. Alright - back on track. Lets enjoy the offday and start streaking!
  18. I don't want to jinx it - but Frazier has to have one of the ugliest swing set-ups I've ever seen from a guy hitting >.320.
  19. Cause you see the long-term - including fact that if you take away that one bad start its even better. His stuff is good and he's developed a changeup that looks extremely promising.
  20. Thsi - Cease had a bad error - but outside of that has looked pretty darn good. So a bunch of sky of falling crybabies who are even worse because they are on a 5 game losing streak.
  21. You nailed it - the two of them together sound like 2 people just playing with house money and having a blast. Guys that really appreciate how lucky and blessed they are to do what they do and they genuinely seem to just have dynamic chemistry.
  22. Yeah - the overall energy in the booth is awesome. I have a feeling he'll be the guy that replaces stone whenever Stone is done.
  23. I overreacted and thought it was going to be 4-0, not quite barreled.
