  1. So I think the starting point of this post is horrible - in the sense that they are assuming the sky is falling, that said, the principle behind it is not crazy. There are some small to mid-market teams who would look to exploit Rodon and Lynn to add more LT pieces - if the price was right. I am not advocating it - but for example - I could see a team like the Rays/A's/Indians at the very least listening to offers.
  2. Yes - there just wasn't enough upside in the deal (unless there is something bigger). I always wanted to add Ball because it felt like a low risk move to see if they could start to unlock something in him before taking a stab at signing him for multiple years. All of this could look better on Tuesday if Bulls maintain a top pick - but it feels to me that this time next year we are talking about blowing everything up and that isn't exactly a glowing indication of any front office 2 years into their journey.
  3. Sam Presti is so stinking good. Embarrassing how bad Bulls front office is compared. I am so beyond frustrated on the approach the new front office has taken this far.
  4. I love watching him pitch too - but with how little he has thrown - they had to really manage his innings and having this type of break, especially with the clubs record etc - is really good when it comes to ensuring we can watch him be awesome in the postseason (vs. getting shut down, etc).
  5. Better yet - his good base running the inning before led to a run (in terms of him seeing the read from the outfielder and getting to 2nd on his blooper.
  6. Maybe they could do a 3 way deal to facilitate things with Mark, Ball and a 3rd team. But in general they are in a really bad spot. I personally think this is as bad as the Bulls roster construct has been in the past 15 years. Non-existent lottery picks, limited players with true upside, and your best player is walking in a year if you can't turn it around. The flipside of this is - you can still blow it up and probably recoup quite a bit if you flip Lavine & Vuc and basically start over. I'm like not a fan of that approach - but it feels like that is the destiny of this squad by the all star break, unless we see a new player step up/elevate their game (i.e., Williams/White). This would change a bit of lottery balls worked in their favor this year as well. Or if Ball or whichever FA they signed really played at a high level (ie. if you got Ball and he started to really show case true potential - but right now he's still a pretty mediocre player and that is coming from someone who likes the idea of Ball - but partially because the Bulls hand is so forced given the Vuc deal).
  7. Get better Nicky!
  8. You all realize that Leury is putting up a .730 OPS over his last 30 days with a .276 avg & .375 OBP all while being a pretty solid defender over multiple positions. He also has .5 WAR thus far - which given how bad his April was - is pretty impressive. He is pretty much back to being exactly who he has been most of his career with the Sox (which is a pretty darn serviceable utility guy who ends up getting quite a bit of ab's due to his versatility). IN this case - probably more than anyone would like given how many injuries happened.
  9. Seems like a solid move. Can never have too many Oline man and he might end up having a couple quality years left. At very least depth if young players don’t pan out like we hope. I really like the fact that in 2-3 years time bears cap are going to be in a great spot and hopefully we are talking about Fields being a bonafie top flight qb and the team is going to have a ton of cap space plus it’s assets etc. Obviously they could be in a better position but I like how things are shaking out for Fields - including the young speedster Mooney, solid and complete back in Montgomery and a young te with some upside plus having some young oline prospects with upside.
  10. This - they don’t need to over react at this moment. That pressure could change in a month - but no need to jump the gun unless the right deal is there.
  11. I can’t believe some people on here are suggesting the club trade Crochet for a 2nd baseman. Ridiculous. This injury sucks cause depth is beat up - but thankfully they have built some cushion and really need to grind into August when reinforcements should be coming. I am totally good getting a piece but I am not trading someone like crochet for a guy who will go back to the bench in 2 months or be a super sub.
  12. And Coby White out 4 months after having shoulder surgery due to an injury he suffered training last week. Huge bummer since they need him to really get his act together in year 3. After a horrendous year 2, he started showing signs late in the season and was set to work a ton with Lavine in the off-season. This is a big set back in terms of him getting in that work. That said - he should be able to do film and cardio but likely means he misses start of the season.

Roughly 70-80% of deaths would have been from people typically on social security and likely not working. I say likely because I am sure, given the socio economic breakdown of who died in this country - there are certainly a chunk of those deaths > 65 who still were working to some extent. The reality is we have inflation going on combined with some other stuff too - which is causing an interesting supply/demand shift in the labor market. I won't predict where it is going to go - what is temporary vs. a true trend. But I've long said - in any of these inflationary situations, it is still the lower income who get hosed the most because they will get squeezed the most in an inflationary environment (and many don't have assets or cheap loans locked in where they technically benefit from inflation).
  14. Total crap. Really hope this ends up being not being as bad as it looked.
  15. You are spot on.
  16. Lol at Ozzie.
  17. It was a spectacular catch - I agree with that - but his stuff looked very crisp and miggy was cheating like crazy on that one. Plus wasn’t that the 9th when Hamilton made that play. The 8th was pretty smooth.
  18. Excellent posts and welcome aboard
  19. He has back issues last year and has to maintain. The season last year was short. Starters are doing a ton more work than they did last year - saving and managing keuchel usage right now is smart. This isn’t a sprint.
  20. Crochet is pretty damn good - so it isn’t like he was trying to let some bum reliever go through the 9th.
  21. They are up five runs with a pitcher who is older and had back injuries who has struggled a bit 3rd time around. Seemed like a pretty no brainer move for Tony to pull the plug. Maybe there is more there - but felt to me we like a…we got this in a good spot, let’s call it a night for keuchel…it’s a long season and this helps keeps some bullets in the arm while ensuring he finishes with a good game (he has quietly been trending in the right direction despite so many calling him a fifth starter…when just last year he was absurdly awesome).
  22. Crochet had a good 8th and they are trying to stretch him back. I was listening on radio and than when needed he went to Hendricks. People are really squinting to blame the mgr on this one. And when crochet had that last walk - he pivoted quickly and wasn’t going to let it continue. But I had no issue sticking with Cro after that 8th.
  23. I refuse to blame a mgr for taking a vet starter like keuchel out early only to be let down by pathetic performance from his players. Period. Players got to play and Heuer was AWFUL.
  24. All I know is he has been electric of late, with his slider being good enough - it is keeping hitters honest on that heater which is lethal. Love it - and I wasn’t a huge fan of the move, but turned into a Liam defender early in the season after seeing how good that heater was first hand. Dude is nasty!
  25. This would be epic - I wouldn’t miss a game. He is the best! And for a three game span - oh man - he would be legendary. He deserves it too after the crappy last final years of his broadcasting career (in terms of the team)
