It will be interesting who the Niners are targeting. I wonder if it is Mac Jones or if they have basically zeroed in on 3 guys and said - hey we are good with any of them. Would Pace give up the same package + Mack (or someone else) to get up to #2 and would that be enough? I have no idea. Feels like the market is set for almost any of the available options. And any odds that the Bears have a QB fall to them (of the top 5) - have to be ZERO. Note: I shouldn't post this - cause I no no one agrees with me on it. But this is just more proof that the last thing anyone should ever hold against Pace is the fact that he gave up a day 3 pick or whatever it was to move up 1 pick to get the QB he had #1 on his list. If you have an issue - it is that he had the WRONG QB #1 on the list - not that he had the conviction to give up a 3rd rounder or whatever it was to secure that. I don't care whomever says he negotiated against himself or whatever it is - QB is way too important not to get that guy you have conviction for (if the conviction is that much > than the others). Would anyone be saying anything if it was Mahomes he gave up that pick for? No - everyone would be going Lynch - WHAT WERE YOU THINKING. The Niners seem to get it - they know they are going nowhere with Jimmy G and took another shot. They aren't in that different of a position than the Bears. They had there breakout year - than regressed massively (Jimmy G wasn't who they thought he was / they dealt with injuries). They have a younger D than the Bears - but still - same boat - mediocre QB and now they mortgaged a lot of draft capital to try and get that guy. If it works - no one complains - if it doesn't - the whole front office will be gone and someone else will be and will try again (and by that point - they'll have their picks back). But a miss with that trade-up will basically set the franchise back 4-5 years (given how much into the future they have borrowed). A hit and they are money.

I'm sure there will be some players / names we didn't expect who magically come available. There will be a team or two that flames out in the playoffs and all of a sudden a narrative changes. Heck - maybe the Warriors decide they need to rebuild or something else and next thing you know Curry is on the market (NO I Do not expect that - but who knows). But Kings are a mess organization that can never turn things around - does D'Aaron Fox want out.

100% agree - but I think him playing PG (or attempting to) - put more thoughts in his head and made him worse at doing what the reality is is his skillset. I think it effective his defense too - because the last turnover / mistake was getting into his head. Bottom line - he was thinking a TON vs. playing. I expect with him playing more off the bench + just having another option on the floor who is an above average scorer - and the general spacing increase that will come when you replace 1 player in a lineup who literally didn't look to score (Wendell/Gafford) - with someone who will score and can make others around them better - that will pay off too. That is my hope at least - it might be too much optimism.
-
Basically if you want a QB at this point - you need to pay more than the Niners did with the Jets - who might be the only team on the fence. Other than Jets - pretty clear top 4 picks are going to be QB's - which means you have pick 5/6 as the non QB picks.
-
Phins than move up with Eagles for 6th overall pick + pick #156 - giving up the #12 they just got from the Niners + pick #123 - 2022 1st round pick. Not sure what the Phins are targeting - but presume they want best available non QB or close to it.
-
Niners just got the 3rd pick - Dolphins get 12th pick, 3rd round pick + 2 more 1st round picks. Phins have a TON of draft capital. Wonder who grabs Jimmy G.

I assume that would be how the Bulls would acquire him. Could be as simple as a 3 team deal - whomever wants Lauri - signs him - than Bulls get Lonzo - and Pelicans maybe get some advantage out of it. Bulls can also sign him outright - bottom line - as Bmags said - if Lonzo wants to come to Bulls and Bulls want him - they have the flexibility to figure it out. But who knows - there could be far better options the front office is looking at in the offseason.
-
This 100% - probably the happiest thing I saw was the front office recognized it was time to move Carter (while he was still an asset) - and move him vs. getting worked up that maybe they sold low. I think as far as they were concerned - they were done waiting on Carter and wanted to move on - Magic are in a different place and maybe the trade/change in scenery helps...but a year from now Carter would probably be worse even less (had he stayed on the Bulls - especially when you think he's a year closer to FA). I also figure we will see Coby's value get restored in the 2nd half of the season - cause we are going to see him better positioned to succeed - going back to - they learned in 1st half of year what he is and probably isn't - now I think they are going to position him in the best spot - not only for his LT development (and getting it back on track) - but also to help this team win.
-
I agree with this - you can always figure it out. Big picture - they can do what they need to and it doesn't have to be Ball. There will be other players on the market in the off-season too - some we probably don't even know about yet. At this point - I'm just glad AK recognized some changes needed to be made and acted on some of them and clearly was trying to do even more.
-
Yeah - it was why they had to make the move now. I am sure there are other creative ways - but now was the time - at least the easiest time. Who knows - let’s hope Lauri takes off playing next to another big who can score - he hasn’t had that since he played with Nikolai. I mean you didn’t even have to defend Wendell or Gafford. They almost never looked to score and neither big could pass. I really really wish Bulls got a PG.

How is Vucevic's D? Watching Theis highlights - this was a real nice upgrade.
-
Agree with that. Either way - I look forward to watching Saturday's game.
-
The only thing I don't like is - those FRP's would be handy as an asset to acquire a player better than Vuc - but I'll worry about that when that time comes. Vuc is a significant upgrade and should give this team better definition - I do think not getting a PG (even a Rubio) was a big miss at the deadline. That said - the other maneuvers looks solid and Theis seems a better fit (since they are keeping Mark) as Theis will add some much needed toughness in the middle. I actually think Lauri and Vuc might play well together - the spacing should be great - but the D - oh lordy that D. Maybe I'm wrong and just assume Vuc is bad defensively?
-
Man - I'd so much rather get a sneak peak of what he can do vs. pay him a big contract in the offseason.
-
I agree - but New Orleans is also trying to make the playoffs so I think they are juggling both.
-
Bulls really need to address PG - but New Orleans doesn't have to move Lonzo. Will be interesting to see who blinks over the next 45 minutes.
-
Felicio has survived like every trade deadline - so why would this be no different? Haha.
-
Gary Trent off the market - traded to Raptors for Norman Powell.
-
Or would we be in the Kings camp - picked Bagley (vs. Doncic) and be in the same spot the team is now. Badger is right - I think they could have moved up and got Doncic (if that was there target).
-
Yeah - Brogdon is way more likely to be the better player. I presume cost will be too much. Wagner is a poor man's Lauri - I mean Lauri is scoring at career highs - he just disappears for full quarters from time to time and makes no one around him better. That said - the spacing with Lauri / Vic / Lavine - is pretty nice.
-
He looked the part - until he shot a layup. And never could stay on the court. Never seen a guy miss so many layups who barely shot the ball. 2 former 1st round picks (not high). I remember Wagner from Michigan - but never watch the Wizards so literally don't know much. Gifford was what he was - high energy bench guy. Hutch didn't even play - so presume this upgrades our depth a bit. Seems like a minor move - but one of those change of scenery moves that maybe Bulls can win.
-
Are Troy Brown / Mo Wagner any good?
-
Haha - give me 2 weeks and I'll be talking about ball like I talk about Coby White hahaha.
-
Nuggets get Garry Harris, Hampton and a 1RP. Seems like a great deal for Nuggets.
-
Gordon to the Nuggets - not sure what for.
