  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) It is very possible. The games last year were impossible to get tickets to. Lets not mention that dreaded series.
  2. QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) If you need help, let me know. I'd mention what my degree is in but that could be dangerous round these parts. Cool...ya I'm thinking my head is gonna be spinning for taking this class. I probably should just go back and repeat the last one I took and than go into advanced the next semester (I wanted to find a description of where exactly I should be to take this class, but it wasn't anywhere on my schools registration site so I just hope this isn't for people already completely fluent, lol).
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Ahh, for some reason I thought he just accepted arbitration, thanks for the info. Ya, I think its around 7 mill a year annually (which isn't too bad cause he's a pretty good pitcher, imo).
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) Didn't he just accept arbitration this past offseason to stay with L.A.?? If so, thats news to me, but I zoned out. I thought he was going to sign multi year but like I say I may be wrong. I know he doesn't make all that much this year.
  5. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) This quote was from the Sun-Times: Here's what I don't get. They have Cabrera (unless they plan on moving him to 3rd), Pierre, and Encarnacion (unless they plan on dealing him). I just don't see where Everett would fit in. Of course if Lowell is dealt somewhere this makes more sense.
  6. I'd like it to be of Joe Crede...and I want the tag like to be Joltin Joe Dimaggio (but cross out Dimaggio and than have Crede above it or something). On one side some pics of Dimmagio and than the other side Crede. Thanks in advance
  7. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) That's impressive. I think French is probably the hardest romance language to learn. I never got my eu, u, ou sounds straight. It's a hard language. I'm convinced to actually sound french that I'd have to smoke like 20 packs of cigarettes a day for the rest of my life. That way I'd get that whole nasal sound down.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) New siggy has been unveiled! ROFL...thats great.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Steve Stone just made a good point on WSCR, basically he said KW probably will make a minor move soon, and then wait for a blockbuster trade if one is needed. Stone feels that with the lead the Sox have they are under no pressure to make a move right now, and can wait a week or two for a few more teams to fall out of it and more players become available That makes sense. Of course there isn't much time until Gload is in trouble. I'm assuming he doesn't have any options (could be wrong though) and his rehab stint ends on Monday.
  10. I'm going to throw out a name here, but Odalis Perez. He's fed up with the Dodgers organization and just signed a 3 yr deal (maybe it was longer) for them a year or two ago (can't remember which off-season it was). He's a lefty, isn't signed to a horrid contract, and is a pretty good pitcher when healthy. The only issue is that he's been banged up this year and the Dodgers may not want to give him up, since they are technically still in the race (especially when they get there bats back). At the same time, if they truly are fed up with him, now would be a good time. Perez is mad at how the organization rushed him and Gagne back from injuries, mainly him. Says he was in a rehab assignemtn, told them he absolutely couldn't go another inning, and they threw him out there anyway and he ended up re-injuring something and it delayed his comeback. He hasn't been great this year (but he's finally getting healthy) and last year he was tremendous once again (2 of his past 3 seasons have been very good, imo). He may pitch at Dodger stadium but he has good stuff and limits hits and is a solid strikeout pitcher. He's gotten hit hard in his two starts since coming off the DL though.
  11. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) Wow, that's better than your English!!! You just watch out...I could get even worse with my yours/you are and theirs/there's. I'm actually gonna be taking an advanced french class this semester (had 3 years of it a while back but haven't taken it in about two years and I'm afraid I'm gonna fail the damn course cause I'll have forgotten too much).
  12. Hammerhead. Haven't heard any names, although I'm assuming the Lakers have a mid-level exception and they will likely split it up on a PG and another big man. That or they will hope to find a taker for Brian Grants albatross of a contract and package him along with someone else and try to work something out (don't ask me how they could do that). Earl Watson is a name that makes a lot of sense to me. Knows how to run an offense, is solid defensively. Basically he's a simliar player to Duhon (although I like Duhon more in the long-run). The other nice thing about Watson from the Laker perspective is that he'd quickly be a fan favorite since he's one of the few quality players to come out of UCLA in a while (still the more popular of the two schools in LA).
  13. Oh god...I'm so confused. I hate Tom Cruise...yet I hate France. Did France actually do something good or is this the best thing ever to happen to Tom Cruise. I'm gonna have to go with all of the above. France and Cruise are still deuche's in my book. Yet I can somehow speak the language semi-fluently (uggh).
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) Ours was just over 10K. 10K just for JR and a location.. nuts. 15. Glavine was much more active the past two labor deals, especially the last one, IIRC.
  16. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) I think the answer here is Obvious.... Aubrey Huff.... Big back... Can play 3B for now... and when Crede is fully healthy it allows us to give Konerko his walking papers... Plus can spell the OF too... Big bat... Impact player.... For a package of Anderson, Sweeney, and BMAC maybe the DRAY'S Will bite.. Good god, yet your not willing to give up that sort of package for Schmidt? Heck no, I'd throw up if the Sox dealt for Huff right now. Huff in the offseason, sure, not a bad move (as long as they aren't giving up what you suggest). Right now Huff doesn't fit on this team. He's a poor defensive 3rd baseman and the Sox shouldn't weakne there defense one bit. If they want to win they need to strenghten what this team is built upon...pitching and defense as well as smart baseball. Huff is a good hitter, but he's crap at 3rd base and it would be a detrimate to this pitching staff to have him playing everyday. If the Sox want to acquire someone, it could be a 3rd baseman (but he better be able to pick it). Otherwise it should be a shortstop, which than gives the Sox two good defensive players capable of playing 3rd in Crede and Uribe. Uribe can also spell others. Thats why I badly want Vizquel. They stay equal defensively at SS while upgrading the bench (uribe moving there) and the lineup improves greatly by getting another type of player this club needs (great 2 hole hitter, heady player, and a leader).
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) I'm really starting to lean this way as well. As much as Burnett is intriguing getting Lilly adds depth to the rotation, could be a bullpen saver as well and obviously it wouldn't cost us as much. I'm pro Lilly at this point or a pitcher like him. I just don't get why Lilly would be on the market when the Jays are one of the teams hot after Burnett. If they are looking to add pitching, than I don't see them moving Lilly. It would essentially be counterproductive.
  18. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) I went to a game alone in 2003 vs Minny. (carl and robbies 1st game with the sox) I was so pumped up about the moves at the time. We were losing to minny all game. Actually, in the 9th, with 2 outs, people were leaving as the slumping Paul Konerko came to bat. I stayed in my seat until the end. GAME TYING HOME RUN! We went to extras Frank hit the game winner in xtras ( his 2nd hr of the night) Best game I ever attended PERIOD He creamed that homer off Guardado too. It was just an epic battle between Frank and Eddie and than bam. I swear, when he hit that HR, I thought the Sox were destined to win the series. I still shake my head at 2003...I can't believe the Sox didn't win it all that year (let alone not make the playoffs).
  19. ROFL Tex...Your on your A game today.
  20. Ah christ...yet another troll to get rid of
  21. What about someone in Philly's rotation. Jon Lieber hasn't exactly dominated, but he's a quality pitcher who may not look that bad. I forget how long his contract is though (probably another 2 years).
  22. QUOTE(marsh @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) It's funny what one game's performance can do to how people feel about guys. If marte struggles yesterday he's "done" and "not the same marte as a couple years ago", but instead he strikes out three guys and is now a stud reliever. I hope he continues pitching lights out and his injury is in the past but I'm not gonna let one game (good or bad) determine a guy's value. The thing is he came out and looked healthy. Of course I would never deal Cotts.
  23. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Beckett. Burnett had the TJ issue but seems otherwise fine. BUrnett is a very Kerry Wood like pitcher Ya, I was debating this with Mario yesterday and I think you have to at least realize there are a lot of similarities between Burnett and Wood. Both have that stellar stuff, Burnett has had a serious injury (not as checkered of a past as Wood though) and frankly both haven't really reached up to their potential and struggle with command. The question is whether the plusses out way the negatives (ie the chance he'll come in and dominate when he's on vs the chance he'll get hurt or just never find his control and be overpaid).
  24. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) s***, I didnt have to ask about that bunch. It should be ovious...while olding each others hands
  25. Make it Duque and a prospect instead of Jose and I'd do it.
