Lance, what have the White Sox told you about where you are going to start the season? Also did you work out any type of pre-draft deal or are you still under negotiations with the Sox? Lance, tell us a bit about your stuff and the way you go about attacking hitters. How was the whole draft experience and when did you know the Sox were going to take you?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) $5.3 million? Isn't that pretty insane? The guy isn't THAT good is he? He's got all the ability in the world, but its hard to say what will happen. Sox wouldn't offer it, but he's a very very capable player and its tough to say where he would go if he were open to being drafted, but quite high. He's definately about as good as it gets when it comes to the HS crop. 2.5 would get it done, but I highly doubt the Sox go there. They'd be giving him more money than Broadway.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) If he had said he wanted to be drafted, what kind of money would he have recieved? I'd say he's the type of guy that could of went top 15 and could of commanded 1.5-2 mill. It just depends and it helps that he's not repped by Boras. He could of also went a little later, but its gonna take more than mid 1st round money to get him, probably.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) I think Danks would have been a mid to late first round pick if he didn't say he wanted to go to Texas. I'd throw 1.5 million at him and see what he does. I think the Sox can go a bit cheap this year with all the JC and CC players in the first 18 picks (6 of them). The thing is I can't think of a time when the SOx have ever done this, but if they are gonna take a fliar on him I hope they are willing to step up with above slot money. I'd hope they'd go to a mill and see if he bites, but I'd probably agree that it will likely take a little more.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) Oops sorry I did not see the Day Two draft thread, posted about Danks in the 43 page manifesto from yesterday. Yes, it will be interesting to see if they decide to throw large coin at this kid. What a coup it would be. Oh man if they did this, wowzers is all I could say.

Hey Kap Here is a clip to the 1st 5 rounds (I'm guessing that will work but if you need more tell me and I'll look around). I don't know how the hell to link javascript, but here's the link to the page that has it. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/events/d...y2005/index.jsp Than just scroll down and under sights and sounds there is a link that says First Year Player Draft Rounds 1-5 Here is the javascript I copied in case you know what to do with it. java script:void(playMedia2({w_id:'428672',w:'2005/open/mlbr05/draft/draftrd1_to_5.wma',pid: 'gen_audio',cid: 'mlb',fid: 'gen_audio12',v:'2'}))

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 06:42 AM) soooo. someone with some time do that? I'd REALLY appreciate it. Ya, I'll look for it in an hour or two. Gonna go back to sleep now....running on fumes.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 06:37 AM) Nah, I did some figuring in my head, that's it. What do you think I am, some nerdy quantitative analyst? Do you want me to answer that

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 06:36 AM) So your tellin me you dont know were 39-19 and 4 games over the twins......BS I know were 20 games over and in 1st place. Some days I know how many games were up, other days I don't. I probably look at the standings about once a week right now. At the end of the year I Freaking look daily, if not twice a day.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:48 AM) Yesterday, I was getting some stuff out of my truck and was standing on a fire ant mound wearing sandals. Those little bastards are nasty. Thankfully I had some rubbing alchohol and some fire ant itch relief gel handy. In less than a minute, I must have had 30 bites. I shouldn't laugh at your misfortune jim, but I must

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) It's a deal.... (cue Ian releasing ants outside my apartment in the middle of the night ) Lol, now I'll know why he isn't showing up to San Diego this weekend, he's gonna be taking the detour route through New York

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) So, we've been having a problem with ants in our apartment. Not just in the kitchen, but everywhere. There's no food left out or anything like that. So, I was hoping I could get some advice on products or solutions from people. Thanks from me and my grossed out roomie. Clean up everything and go to like home depot. Ask them for a safe pesticide (one thats alright to use in the house) and just spray along all the floor areas and that should do it. You may have to do it every few months just to keep them away. We like live on a freaking ant hill out here and started spraying that stuff every few months (usually on the outside walls of the house) but also by the kitchen and areas where food are and we rarely see ants now. And boy do ants suck.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 06:31 AM) I looked when I set up the contest I'll post my guess for fun when I lock the thread on Friday. Just don't tell me you did a regression analysis or anything like that

QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) my buddy and his gf flew out Sunday night to go to colorado to get away for a few days. he figured he would check out Coors field to catch a baseball game. he is a casual fan, but he roots for the sox. he doesnt really look at the schedule or know in advance who the sox are playing in a given week. well, to his surprise, the rockies just so happened to play the Sox this week. so he was a happy camper. s*** I'm diehard and unless I'm going to games I rarely know who the hell they are playing the next day, lol. One thing I'm not is a schedule watcher and I don't pay much attention to standings until after the all star break.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 06:38 AM) I kinda wonder how many sox fans will be at Petco this weekend?? We know Soxtalk is gonna be representing The Dodgers and Angels series usually draw a pretty strong contingent of Sox fans, but the Pads have really good fans, still I'd expect a good number of Sox fans.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 06:16 AM) I'm not playing. I have access to all of the statistics, and I didn't think that would be fair. I got the same access and you know damn well there is no way in hell I'm gonna actually get off my ass and look at the stats to come up with my guess So Mike, just do it the Jason way, be lazy and pick a random day, haha. On a sidenote, talking in 3rd person rules.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:26 AM) This is why Timo should be the one to be demoted or cut. You didn't get the memo...he's gonna start at 2B tonight. Seriously though, I'm not worrierd. MVP (Wee Willie) is gonna come in and kick some butt at 2nd base if Iguchi has to miss any extended time

Me, Spiff, Showtime, and Molto will be there Friday and Saturday

Its never televised, so check around mlb.com and they probably have an archived version of day 1 somewhere.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Any problems with how Ozzie handled the bullpen today? Hell no. Cotts was pitching awesome after that 7th and he stuck with the hot arm. I'm sure if Cotts blew it we'd of heard something, but Cotts was fantastic and it was the right call sticking with him. I thought Ozzie did a good job today. Ozzie usually does a solid job, its just when he's off, he's way way off in my mind and it tends to come in streaks. The big flaw is I don't see the logic behind it. Its not like a move where I go I don't agree with it, but I can see why he's opted this way. Its just me sitting there going, what the f***, this makes absolutely no sense. Usually it involves Timo or Luis Vizcaino, but there are other instances like pinch hitting for a hot Guchi with a slumping Everett.

QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) so he's 2-1 for us. that's about our winning percentage this year, so he's been up to par with us. Also cost the Sox a game where he whiffed in a huge situation where the Sox pretty much had the game won. Soemone else failed along with Perez but Perez was the first to get the chance IIRC (it was with Percy on the mound against Detroit - someone else posted the info on the games, I'm just bringing it up in this thread).

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Name the other game he has won for us and provide proof. I'll admit the Memorial Day game he ran into a pitch and got a bloop hit that won that game. So, the Memorial Day game and... He had a big homer in a Twins game, dont' know if it was a game winner or not.

QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) i'm seeing people so ungrateful for timo, man. hes a great utility player! hes won two games already this year with the swing of a bat, and played what seems like a half dozen positions at least. how many other utility players can you say that about not just in the american league but the entire MLB? There are maybe 5 players in the majors (in both leagues) that are worse than Timo. Josh Paul is one of them. Thats if you don't consider production per salary. Regardles Timo is awful, easily one of the worse players in baseball.
