  1. Just treat other posters with respect, nuff said. Thats what it comes down to and we as mods and admins are going to do our best to clean up the stuff when those things don't happen. If you disagree with someones post, disagree and say why, but stay away from the "Your a Moron Line" or "What an Idiot". That type of thought, while easy to say, does nothing to add to the thread and is pretty much the same as the perceived stupid post. All you got to do is take a few seconds to think before hitting the post button. The best threads can come from discussions where two people disagree but you end up getting a ton of baseball talk and others get involved that everyone leaves the threads learning a ton (even if the main two parties still see things there way and thats very well possible). You also have people ask questions. We all learn a lot on these boards. I know I've learned a ton about baseball and other things from my time on these boards. Soxtalk has one of the most knowledgeable fan bases I've ever seen. So many people that understand the game or the people with inside information to certain things or the people who follow the minor leagues. There are just so many resources here and some posters may not be as diehard or know as much as some on here, but they may learn it and if they ask a question than a simple answer back is easy enough. I know I've asked plenty of questions before and have responded to many as well, just as most of us have. Regardless, I'm pleased with this board. There are so many awesome people here, all Sox fans, and all rooting for a Sox win. Sometimes I think people forget that, but we all hold that one thing in common.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) I wanted to go to San Diego but that was a no go with the parents. Stayed in L.A. the whole time now all the sudden my parents want to move to Cali, well if they do I'm staying here so whatever should be interesting. Anyways I went to Dodger stadium and thought it was a complete dump but the rest of my family loved it. My dad loves the place but I think its the most god awful ballpark in baseball (write there with Fenway and the Twinkie dome). Haven't been to Tropicana but everyone says that place stinks too. Just an ugly stadium and they have some awful awful fans (not the diehards, but the casual fans and they get a ton of em).
  3. There will be a whole slew of signings the next couple days and then rosters will be out for the short season teams. My guess is they may have already came to terms with some other guys or are pretty close. I'm gonna try and figure out whats going on with the other picks cause I haven't had the shot to do much catching up until tonight.
  4. Hey Bham, I saw where you mentioned he hit 90 on the gun his last outing (the time before this one). Is his starting to consistently throwing the 86-89 MPH range and is that knuckle curve starting to get its bite back?
  5. White Sox Sign Lance Broadway By Jason Gage June 13, 2005 FutureSox.com The Chicago White Sox announced that they came to terms with 1st round draft pick Lance Broadway. Broadway, a right handed pitcher out of TCU, was the 15th overall selection during the 2005 June amateur draft. In a recent interview with FutureSox.com Broadway mentioned he was eager and willing to get a deal done and the White Sox were just as anxious as the two sides agreed to a $1.57 million dollar signing bonus. Broadway will be sent to Winston Salem (High A)...MORE
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) There's a good chance I'm getting tickets for this game, if I'd love to meet some of you guys. I saw you were in Cali this weekend. Were ya able to make it down to SD for one of the games? Or stuck in crappy LA the whole time (cheap shot at Cali)
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Sounds good, I'm gonna try to get Gage to bring a glove so we can do some throwing in the lot as well. Consider it done. I'll definately bring my mitt.
  8. If Marte goes to the DL than I don't have a problme with this. Jenks is the best relieving prospect in the system and while I think Baj is just deserving if the Sox feel more confident in Bobby and feel that his attitude is right than I can definately see giving him a shot.
  9. ASU beat Fullerton and the final game is tomorrow at 3:05.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) No no no no, no--theres no f***ing way Fullerton just won that game. They just scored on a f***ing thrown away pickoff and a balk on an IBB...WHAT THE f*** That balk call was some serious bulls***, you can't decide a game like that. :fyou ump, thats some huge BS Nah, its fantastic in my book
  11. Thats pretty cool. I'll try and throw it up tomorrow. Gracias knightni
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) The player and his agent should not be negotiating for the team, any more than the team should be negotiating for the player. Agent "I'm sorry Mr. TeamOwner, but I don't see how you can be competitive and pay my player $10,000,000. Let's make it $8,500,000? Does that sound fair to you? TeamOwner "No, I insist. He's batting .329 and we need a left handed bat. He's worth at least $10,000,000 that's only fair. Agent "Well if you can convince me you can spend it *and* be competitive, I guess we will take the money." I'm not arguing that a top heavy payroll is the answer. I agree that a balanced payroll, is probably a better path to the playoffs. What I cannot see is a player settling for less money on some hope the team will use the money to sign other players, who also would be signing for less, in hopes of getting other players who will sign for less dollars. That's a nice socialist system, but not a free enterprise, American dream way. And just having the extra money doesn't mean you will win anything. The Yankees have an almost unlimited payroll. If players started signing contracts based on lower wages so the team could sign more free agents, like the Yankees, there is no guarantee of winning. But my original question. Are teams hurting themselves when they refuse to sign a player based on his agent? No, the only person hurt is the player because quite often they end up losing money because only a few teams are willing to take him and in regards to the draft it will have a negative impact on his signing bonus (at least half of the time).
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Anybody have any idea on when will know for sure he won't be accepting any offer from us? Once he officially attends classes than he's pretty much done. Sox won't be able to negotiate with him. Its either that or when he registers for classes.
  14. I just saw this and am not gonna be around much so was gonna just ask a quick question (don't have time to read the whole thread right now). Is this actually being reported as a possibility or more a name being bantied around by fans?
  15. Hell ya. I thought it was gonna make it back up today and it did. WOOT. Finally got a hold of the owner of the company after a huge pissed off rant last night and well the owner got things moving quickly, haha.
  16. Ian's stuck out at my place this week so, I'll try and convince his ass to put something together :lo:
  17. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) My God, the Sox might be able to fill Bristol or Great Falls up with strictly JC or CC players after this. It should bode well for their record.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) White Sox select...redraft Christian Marrero OF from Brower JC Any relation to Eli?
  19. Hey Josh...check the thread on the top. We have a day two thread
  20. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) That or guys with signability issues. He's got more signability issues than any Boras client too, LOL. But like we said on AIM yesterday. 1st the Sox draft him, then they need to sign him, then he needs to turn into a star...thats what must happen and than it will be way badass
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Quick question: With Kenny head-over-heels in love with guys like Pedro Lopez, does that factor in when drafting? For instance, will Kenny be hesitant to draft a middle-infielder early because he thinks there is some can't-miss talent playing in either AA or AAA. I know a lot of times you want to draft talent, regardless of who you have playing in front of him, but does that play even a small role when drafting? And SS, I totally agree. My kid won't even know he has a right hand until the second grade. No, you draft talent and frankly should look very little at what you currently have. The only time position really factors in is when you have guys rated on a similar plane and than you decide on which guy fills a bigger need position. Later in the draft they will draft for depth though, making sure all the rosters will be squared away for the minors.
  22. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Mike, when your kid decides its time to try his hand at baseball, you make damn sure he throws with his left hand. I'm serious. Whenever he goes to throw the baseball with his right, slap it. I don't know jack about the MLB draft, but isn't this pretty par for the course? You always hear that pitchers, especially lefties, have a future in baseball. However, with the exception of Anderson, Sweeney, etc. a lot of our starting position players in the future would appear to come from either free agency or via trade, so if Kenny is looking to promote home-grown pitching talent instead of position players, I suppose I'm on board with that. And you make double damn sure that I'm his agent. I'll make Boras look like Santa Claus, we'll get him top dollar
  23. Those are some really nice looking stats and if I recall Lake City is a place the Sox have drafted a few guys from before. At least it sounds really familiar.
  24. www.milb.com and there are some transaction pages in there. Neither that or BA are perfect but they are the best that I know of.
