  1. He was taken a round ahead of Donald Veal. 322 Richard Brooks RHP North Tonawanda (N.Y.) HS That was where he was selected in 2003. Teagarden is off the board now.
  2. The Sox had drafted him in 2003. I'm trying to think, I may of done his writeup, the name was really familiar and he may of been the guy that I remember reading about who had really good stuff but was pretty much not gonna sign (was pretty raw). Let me look around.
  3. Richard Brooks from East Carolina University (Redraft) by the White Sox.
  4. Thats it, I find it highly unlikely that Teagarden will sign. He'll get picked by someone, but odds are he'll be back at the collegiate level another year (unless someone steps up with supplemental round money).
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) jensen lewis or ryan mullins? i go to vandy and go to every game and friends with a bunch of those guys, mullins is legit lewis id wait on Mullins...thats a kid I really like.
  6. I could see them going with a hitter, potentially shortstop. Of course the Sox love taking pitchers and if they do I expect it to be a power pitcher.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) As I'm sure you know, he has absolutely no control. GT can't even pitch him in big games because he's more of a threat to walk in 5 runs than he is to give you 3 solid innings. Ya, but with the guys they drafted there its nice taking a guy like him and taking a shot. Stuff is amazing.
  8. Micah Owings goes and it sounds like he'll be kept as a pitcher. I've been an Owings fan for some time. Very good two way player.
  9. f***ing hell...great pick by the Dbacks. Neighborgall may not have the numbers, but has the arm.
  10. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Moviel is still at Vandy. I think he was hurt earlier in the year, couldn't find his name at their web site, but he cam back towards the end of the season although he only had 1 start and 8 2/3 IP the entire year... I like Vandy's pitcher that replaced Sowers.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) I'm praying Teagarden falls to #95, but I'm not expecting it. That JuCo pitcher, Maiques, interests me. Repd by Boras...Sox aren't gonna take him.
  12. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Guys that have slipped: Taylor Teagarden (Catcher, but Borass) Jordan Danks, OF (high signability concerns, likely to go to college) Jacob Marceaux, RHP (HSer could have gone earlier, compared to Oswalt) Cody Satterwhite (RHP, HS, college commit) and Justin Bristow (HS SS)were also rated top 45 by BA. I doubt the Sox would grab Danks, but he's a freaking stud.
  13. QUOTE(Unregistered @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) I remember reading his name last night on the Tribune site and praying that they don't draft him. "Lance Broadway" just sounds like one of those players that 3 years from now you'll be saying, "What the hell ever happened to that 'Lance Broadway' guy?" I hate the picks that the Sox sign and everyone is like "Why would they sign him?" cause my guess is that he is a guy they know they can sign cheap, and don't want to be burned by another Borchard clone. Prove me wrong, Broadway. His periphs are flat nasty.
  14. Hell I don't think I heard Teagarden's name called (the Catcher). It goes too fast for me to hear other names still out there, lol.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Are you sure Hodges is a switch hitter now? I'm a huge GT fan, and I watched all their regional games on ESPNU this week. Hodges batted righty the entire week. He is a great player though, and it will shock me if he doesn't become a MLB starter in his career. Maybe he stopped? I know his senior year of high school he broke his hammate bone or something in one hand and started hitting the other way and was planning on switch hitting.
  16. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) why did he transfer to a junior college? If I recall he didn't pitch all that grand his freshman year and than when his mom died of cancer he went back closer to home. It may of even been when she was sick. He's supposed to be extremely start (wanted to be a doctor).
  17. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Too bad Hodges isn't there again... ;-) Yep, Veal's mom died of cancer in the last year. He didn't sign 2 years ago because his mom was really pushing college, Veal has wanted to become a doctor and had a one million dollar bonus demand in order to give that up. The Sox made 3 great Plan B picks in Veal, Wes Hodges (going to be a 1st rounder next year IMO) and Greg Moviel. They didn't sign any of them, but here Veal is going to go in the first 3 rounds in all likelihood. Veal left Arizona and enrolled at Pima CC in Arizona this year so he could enter the draft and start his pro career. All the best to him wherever he ends up. Haven't heard much on Moviel, I remember the Sox signed and drafted his brother Paul hoping to grab Greg. Hodges has flat raked, man would if of been nice if the Sox signed a couple of those guys. Its cool how Hodges broke his hammate and learned how to rake from the other side of the plate and is now a switch hitter. I remember you always loved Hodges.
  18. Veal is now off the board. Freaking Cubbies select him.
  19. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) for those of us who don't keep up when did we draft veal? and who is he? Veal is a southpaw that was drafted 2 years ago (I think it was 2 years back). He was thought of as one of the most talented southpaws in the draft but slid because he was pretty much a lock to go to University of Arizona. He went to UofA but his mom passed away and he ended up transferring to a junior college and has kicked ass there. Pretty good upside, imo.
  20. Solid selection by Stephen Head. One of the better power hitters in the draft. Now the Yanks select James Brent Cox from the University of Texas Austin with what was the White Sox pick.
  21. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) Anyone think the Sox redraft Donald Veal if he's there in the 3rd round? Oh man that would be beautiful. I remember loving Veal when we originally took him. Too bad he was a lock to go to U of A. Its really sad what happened to his mom.
  22. Todays Bermanism: Lance "I can sing and dance" Broadway
  23. Is Tommy having a heart attack or something?
