QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Skiles' agent went on the radio today and on Chicago Tribune Live and basically said it's much more than money and length, then when they asked what he wouldn't say which translates into we want more money. If they give him anymore money he'll be a top 5 paid coach. He certainly isn't that good. I don't see Washington paying Eddie Jordan that and they beat the Bulls. Plus Skiles almost a completely new team from the one he inherited. Skiles is asking for too much. He wants to get payed like he's Larry Brown and he's clearly not on that level. He hasn't even won a championship yet so screw him. I'm confident Pax will find someone better whether that be Phil or Flip. And people don't underestimate Phil. He had Kobe who's arguably the most selfish player ever to play the game. The triangle would definately work with Gordon in it. There's other coaches out there I wouldn't mind. Eric Mussleman whos a younger less stubborn Skiles comes to mind. I'll f***ing puke if I have to see the triangle ran without a total superstar who can make buzzer beaters all game long. Triangle offense is horrid, only reason it worked for the Bulls/Lakers is because they both had total superstars at the guard position who could bail the team out when the shot clock would die and the triangle wouldn't get the offense a good shot (happens way too much in the triangle).

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) hawk did say something about hearing about how many ex-chicagoans move to colorado. If I were to live anywhere other than Orange County or Chicago, it would be Colorado. Its just a beautiful state with a lot of really nice parts. Weather isn't too shabby if your in the right spot either.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Freddy pitched himself a hell of a ballgame from innings 2 through 8. Let's see the Sox get 20 games over the .500 mark tomorrow night. Retired 22 straight or something like that.

Rocks announcers said it was one of the best games they've ever seen pitched at Coors (obviously Nomo's no-no would be #1 on the list or so I assume). Freddy was flat out dynomite minus that 1st inning (where he really made one bad pitch and fell behind to two batters). Impressive performance and wow did the offense look smooth (tons of basehits, lots of two out rallies, me likey). GO SOX

Nice, Shingo gets the job done. Didn't look too bad. I still say his biggest problem is control. If he gets that solved, he'll be back to his 04 form. Problem is he isn't going to find it pitching once a freaking month (exaggeration) and he's best suited spending a couple weeks down in Charlotte pitching 2 out of every 3 days.

I go to the games when they are in Anahiem, that doesn't make me a fairweather fan. A few posters are at the game tonight as well and 99% of posters here aren't fairweather fans. I think its cool that there are so many Sox fans there cheering on our favorite team I know I'll be cheering em on this weekend down in SD.

6-2 Fullerton in the bottom of the 6th 3-2 USC in the top of the 4th I spoke too soon on Tulane advancing. They are up 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th over Alabama. Micah Owings (very good two way player) has pitched 7 strong innings for Tulane. Its game 6 and I think Tulane will advance with a win.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Gotta finish the more imporant NCAA Softball games first. UGH I was puking this weekend. The paper in Iowa showed college baseball on ESPN and I turned only to see it was softball. UGGGH. ESPN needs to televise these on their big boys, not on ESPNU which almost no one gets (unless your living in a college dorm).

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) When are games going to start being on ESPN? I wanna watch Cesar The super regionals will all be televised on ESPN. Obviously they will only broadcast some of the games, but those start on Friday.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) I disagree. The MLB rule has always stated that as soon as you attend your first class you are no longer eligible to sign. Townsend's agents tried to get around that by declaring him Ineligible or voiluntary retired (or whatever term they used), saying he was giving up his eligibilty so that he could continue to negotiate. Unfortuantely, they did so and assumed that would be okay and Townsend went to class. MLB stuck by their rules, which I think they should have. The rule is there to give the MLB team leverage (the player has the leverage of going back to school). It is there for a purpose and to allow an agent to circumvent it, gives agents an advantage. I was glad that MLB took the stand they did. I understand the purpose, but I think there should be a way for a player to deem himself ineligible from collegiate baseball and go back to school. Of course if he were to do that he'd be giving up a whole lot of leverage. There are definately two sides to this and I think Townsend was on the end of some bad advice and it came back to bite him in the butt.

Rice, Georgia Tech, Texas, Tulane, and Baylor are all moving on (Baylor beat Stanford). USC is up 2-0 over Pepperdine. Like I said earlier, if they advance and their 2nd game is televised you'll all have to check out Ian Kennedy. Total stud. Him and Mizzu's sophmore pitcher (name escapes me at the moment but I think its Max something) are gonna be really fun to watch next year.

Fullerton is up 6-0 on Arizona in the 4th inning.

Just tried something new, maybe just maybe I'll get a quick response and get this baby up before the end of draft day (*crosses fingers*)

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) Yeah, Heads told me what the announcement was. Everyone here will be thrilled when they hear who we lined up. It's actually the second year in a row we've talked to him, so there's your only hint. Me, you, Dan and whoever should get on IM tomorrow and start divying up the player bios. That sounds cool to me. I'm gonna try and write stuff up as if it were the site. I'm even thinking of loading the entire site onto the Soxtalk server and just have a temp FS up. Don't know if I'll get around to that tonight or not though. But I'll be on aim throughout the draft so we can get stuff together and I'm sure Danno will be on as well
-
If its anything other than his Hammy, then its s***. Its not that hard to run something out. Another 1-2-3 inning after a deep flyout to center.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) Hey Jason, get the damn server resolved to I can pimp FutureSox to Hawk and DJ via e-mail, sheesh. I'm so pissed right now. I've backordered the site in case it clears before stuff gets taken care of. I faxed all the proper documents about a week ago and still haven't heard anything back. Now I called and left a message today and shot two more emails to the people and am hoping somehow I can get a response. Once it gets back in my control...its a 24 hr turn around. I'm giddy to get the Wilder interview finished up (and won't do it until I get FS live) plus a hopeful interview with Shaffer after the draft is finished up. Oh and heads will have a nice announcement as well Hopefully its just a matter of a day or two (it sucks big time balls that it won't be up on draft day now...I'm freaking dying without the site). On a sidenote, I'm so freaking pumped for the draft Mike...its gonna be badass. I wish the Sox had more picks though (like last year).

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) I totally forgot about Clement. An Iowa boy to boot. I'm swinging into his camp. I just spent 4 days in Iowa, how about the Sox draft me in the 1st round
-
That was Paulie's 1st of 4 hr's in the series. You heard it in the chat first, now here

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) I think that getting Broadway is a lot more realistic now. He's ranked at #16 on BA's Draft Tracker. His stock has been skyrocketing, and you know we're gonna seriously consider him considering Dave Wilder, himself, scouted his last game, where he pitched great. I think he's plan D, behind Clement, Bogu, and Carillo. One of those 4 guys will be on the board when the Sox pick.

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Has anyone seen this kid pitch in person? I hear so much about him, and can't wait to see him in the bigs. When do you think he will get called up? I saw him pitch down in ST this year. Holy s*** his stuff is as advertised. Still had a bit to work on but if I were the Mariners I'd already have him up. The only reason I think he's down in the minors is because the Mariners don't want to be blamed for rushing him up and putting too big of expectations on him. Once they are out of the race he can come up and be eased in over half a season. The guy is a total phenom though and diehard Mariners fans are going to have high expectations. Lets just put it this way, stuff wise he's off the charts. His fastball is as explosive as it gets and he has a hell of a slider.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) That's what I'm thinking, Jim. Carrillo seems like a pretty safe pick, high floor, but a low ceiling type of a guy. I'd certainly get more excited if they went with a more 'ballsy' (for lack of a better word) pick in Torra and Townsend (though Torra might be a reach), though 'ballsy' doesn't always mean smart. Re: Townsend, if his velocity isn't back in the mid-low 90s, don't take him. But I (and apparently Jim, too) have read somewhere that he's got it back up to where it was. I'm not all that concerned about the year layoff (maybe I should be?), though, so that probably sways my opinion to a more pro-Townsend. And, this may seem obvious, but I think the Sox are hoping that a guy like Zimmerman or Clement falls to #15 (and yes, Cerb, I realize he won't get there). If not, they'll go with Bog or Carrillo. If Towsend's velocity isn't back (and everything I've read said it isn't...thats based on BA, I don't know anything on the Townsend situation except what I read there) than there is absolutely no reason to draft him, imo. Now if Townsend is in fact throwing gas, that would be another story.
