  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) Hansen is falling!!!!! One of Hansen/Hoch will be there when the Sox pick. If the Sox take the risk it would be well worth it with either of them. It will be interesting. I'd be so freaking happy with either of those Boras clients.
  2. Guys I think Hochevar will be there when the Sox pick. No way will Pitt or Cincy draft him and the only question would be if Cleveland took him. It will be interesting cause he's a total stud.
  3. Maybin to the Tigers. This is a really good value pick for the Tigers. Many guys had Maybin rated as the 2nd best guy in this draft next to Upton (very very toolsy).
  4. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) Wade Townsend to Tampa surprising Nah, TB has been hot on his trail for a while now. Pelfrey was selected so Hochevar (whom I love is falling). Detroit gets along with Boras so I'm guessing they will snag Hoch.
  5. Keith's guy Townsend goes off to the Drays. The draft seems to be shaping up nice for the White Sox
  6. No surprise Romero (GO TITANS) goes. He has great heart and nice breaking pitches but I'm not a fan of this pick. Jays have an agreement. The Rockies pick will be interesting. I assume Hochevar, but Troy may be a guy they look at. Well The Rocks just took Troy, which will send Hochevar down. Now it will be interesting who the Mets take (they'll be the 1st to take a Boras guy, imo) in terms of Pelfrey/Hochevar
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) I can't believe what I'm watching right now. I have a call into Paul Tagliabue Just wait till the slower rounds, it will fly.
  8. Wow, Braun goes off the board. I tell you one thing its too bad this crop of college 3rd baseman weren't around last year cause they are all better than Josh Fields (not a knock on Fields, more so these 3 guys are very very talented). Braun is the 1st Miami player to go in the 1st RD, Carillo will be the next.
  9. Zimmerman off the board and its a done deal. Sounds like they had a predraft deal.
  10. Gordon is a real good pick. Total stud of a hitter. The mariners pick will be an interesting one because they are looking at two guys the Sox would love to have fall to them. Jeff Clement has been selected 3rd overall (I didn't want him).
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) Jason -- since you get a lot of San Diego news, is Sandy Alderson going to have a hand in the Padres draft yet, or will that not happen until next year? I'm sure he's been around it, but there is no way he's going to hvae much of a call on this years draft. He got there just too late. Now he'll be involved but not majorly. Upton was just drafted #1 overall as the draft finally starts. It started late because the Yanks weren't there for the roll call.
  12. Hell 6 or 7 picks should be in by now....MLB is late.
  13. Dbacks should already have their pick in. Has it not started yet? Fred Claire is one guy I'll actually listen to, he was a darn good GM with the Dodgers. Interestingly they are talking Clement at #3 to the Mariners. I'd be thrilled if that happened cause it could send Troy out of the top 10.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Yeah, Jim, I'll do my best. Before it starts -- lots of people like Cliff Robinson, the UofI catcher, going to the Sox in round four or five? Can anyone talk about him a little bit? Good defensively? Bad? Power guy? Plate discipline? Good defensive catcher.
  15. Happy Bday to one of the better sig and FS banner makers Knightini. Have a good one
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) I don't think he's a Bulls fan. This is a dream match-up for anybody who loves defense. I suggest for anyone who likes fast paced, free flowing offensive basketball to NOT and I repeat NOT watch this series. Nah, qwerty's a big time Bulls fan. He pretty much watches every game. I'll be rooting for the Spurs but I don't dislike the Pistons at all. I like the style game they play and I was rooting for them big time last year against the Lakers. As long as they aren't playing the Bulls I'm indifferent on them. Back in the early 90's and late 80's I hated the Pistons, but that rivalry isn't the same right now. First I want to see the Bulls make the playoffs again.
  17. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) Thanks. I haven't really followed the CWS before this year, mainly b/c none of "my" teams have been in it, so I'm guessing that the Super Regionals are single elimination. Super Regionals are a best of 3 situation.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Elaborate please. What more can I say other than the fact its an extremely poor system that has horrific ball movement and pretty much encourages ball hogging. The system often times has a guy having to force up shots because you don't open up the passing lanes by spreading (I know the point of the triangle is to have more passing lanes open, but it doesn't work that way). The only times it has ever succeeded is with a team in LA (Kobe/Shaq) and the Bulls (MJ/Pipp) every other time it has failed miserably. There is a reason for that. The Lakers and Bulls overcame the ineptness of the triangle, plus both teams played good defense in their hayday (the Bulls much better than the Lakers, but come crunch time the Lakers knew how to play it, especially role players like Robert Horry and Rick Fox).
  19. Really negative sounding article from the tribune. I also want to state it would be a HUGE HUGE mistake if the Bulls cut Skiles free. They need to cave in. Skiles is so important to this team. He had the Bulls playing hard and playing right and they are going to continue to grow (although I could also see a minor blip in the radar this next season) and then of course the following season is the one where I expect the Bulls to compete for the finals (they'll have the money to make an impact signing). Here's the link to the article: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  20. Fullerton will be the home team against ASU
  21. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) Does anyone have a list of the match-ups for the Super Regionals? Tulane vs Rice USC vs Oregon State Mississippi vs Texas Clemson vs Baylor Georgia Tech vs Tennessee Florida State vs Florida Fullerton vs Arizona State Miami vs Nebraska Those are both sides of the bracket.
  22. Put it this way, if Troy goes past the Mariners and Royals there is a very good shot that he'll slide out of the top 10 simply because it doesn't appear any other teams are interested in shortstop. Of course if that article is true the Rocks are interested, but I had heard they wanted a pitcher and Carillo wasn't the name I was hearing. I had heard they were pretty interested in Pelfrey or Hochevar, although I don't know if they'll go that route (plus he's repd by Boras IIRC).
  23. Just a quick poll. Should we leave this thread here or move it to the main forum tomorrow?
  24. Wes Roemer was dynomite for the Titans going 8 innings (after pitching 72 hr's ago) while picking up the win and was also the regional mvp. USC held on to win 5-2 as well so the field is set. My Titans are slated to play Arizona State this weekend at the Super Regional. I'm assuming Fullerton will be the home team but that hasn't been announced.
