  1. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) Guys that have slipped: Jordan Danks still- not surprising at all, but some team will take the risk. Justin Bristow- HS SS David Adams- SS/3B signed with Virginia. Likely to go there. Cody Satterwhite- Old Miss commit RHP, command issues Jacob Marceaux- RHP, McNeese Anthony Varvaro- RHP, St. John's, small with 'electric stuff' Robert Ray- RHP, Texas A&M 90-93 fastball Brian Matusz- LHP, HS, high projection, great control of curve Jeremy Hellickson- RHP, HS (Iowa), first-round stuff but commit to LSU I'm with Dan, Hellickson would look awful sweet in the 4th round if he's there. If he were in a warm weather state he'd of gone earlier. He's projectable and has good stuff, not the greatest FB in the world (at least not when scouts saw him) but he should fill out a bit.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) I'm extremely dissapointed with this pick. Especially when Carillo, Bogusevic, and Hansen still on the board. So they draft a guy based on him having been lights out for a whole 3 starts? Technically it was just the level of competition he did it against recently, but he has been lights out all season. Just look at his numbers, flat filthy.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) Any how many have failed as well. An average pitcher selected this soon is sort of a stretch, even they will admit it. His numbers arent impressive and are not as good as some that are still on the board, I guarantee you that they might "see" something in this kid, because it sure isnt his numbers. Whisler was the same way. Awful numbers, but the Sox loved his arm. Liotta was a guy that many here were like who the hell is he. I remember I couldn't find any info on the guy for the longest time.
  4. All I'm saying is the Sox saw Broadway a lot, he's supposed to have sick curve has solid velocity on his fastball (and its not a straight fastball) and has good command. I can't complain.
  5. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) I could be wrong but didnt we pick Brooks last year in the 11th round 2 yrs ago
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Those numbers aren't very impressive, Jason... Whatever, they've done a good enough job to earn my trust, I don't like the pick, but we'll see... Anyways, unless I'm not seeing something, that Kenny Maiques is still on the board, and he rates as one of the best JuCo pitchers in America. I'd like to see the Sox grab him, strictly from a numbers standpoint. 133 K's in 82 IP, and just 16 BB's. Not saying they are amazing, but he had sick numbers out of high school. Lets give him a chance at the very least. I wish I could find my stuff from the 03 draft but I can't.
  7. Player ERA W-L APP GS CG SHO/CBO SV IP H R ER BB SO 2B 3B HR AB B/Avg WP HBP BK SFA SHA Ricky Brooks........ 3.46 5-5 17 12 3 2/0 1 78.0 66 35 30 24 70 12 1 8 296 .223 8 4 3 0 2
  8. Another C-USA pitcher too (along with Broadway). Seems like they have seen Broadway a good amount and are obviously quite familiar with Brooks from the 1st time around. If I think back (i may be totally off base) I was thinking Brooks threw a splitter.
  9. Pedroza is the Titans hero. Without him they aren't in the super regionals. I like that pick.
  10. He's a draft eligible sophmore from what I can tell. Was named National Pitcher of the Week at one point this past season. This kind of smells of Ray Liotta. A guy off everyones radar.
  11. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/2005..._ncarolina.html Unreal. guy is a college senior and they don't have a 2nd rounder this year and blow their cheese on a kid who would have been there in the 5th freakin round! Dumbasses. Cubs have already come to terms with Pawalek. He can't be a senior since he was drafted in 03 out of high school. I'm confused here.
  12. He was taken a round ahead of Donald Veal. 322 Richard Brooks RHP North Tonawanda (N.Y.) HS That was where he was selected in 2003. Teagarden is off the board now.
  13. The Sox had drafted him in 2003. I'm trying to think, I may of done his writeup, the name was really familiar and he may of been the guy that I remember reading about who had really good stuff but was pretty much not gonna sign (was pretty raw). Let me look around.
  14. Richard Brooks from East Carolina University (Redraft) by the White Sox.
  15. Thats it, I find it highly unlikely that Teagarden will sign. He'll get picked by someone, but odds are he'll be back at the collegiate level another year (unless someone steps up with supplemental round money).
  16. There goes Robinson.
  17. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) jensen lewis or ryan mullins? i go to vandy and go to every game and friends with a bunch of those guys, mullins is legit lewis id wait on Mullins...thats a kid I really like.
  18. I could see them going with a hitter, potentially shortstop. Of course the Sox love taking pitchers and if they do I expect it to be a power pitcher.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) As I'm sure you know, he has absolutely no control. GT can't even pitch him in big games because he's more of a threat to walk in 5 runs than he is to give you 3 solid innings. Ya, but with the guys they drafted there its nice taking a guy like him and taking a shot. Stuff is amazing.
  20. Micah Owings goes and it sounds like he'll be kept as a pitcher. I've been an Owings fan for some time. Very good two way player.
  21. Hells ya...UC Irvine
  22. f***ing hell...great pick by the Dbacks. Neighborgall may not have the numbers, but has the arm.
  23. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Moviel is still at Vandy. I think he was hurt earlier in the year, couldn't find his name at their web site, but he cam back towards the end of the season although he only had 1 start and 8 2/3 IP the entire year... I like Vandy's pitcher that replaced Sowers.
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) I'm praying Teagarden falls to #95, but I'm not expecting it. That JuCo pitcher, Maiques, interests me. Repd by Boras...Sox aren't gonna take him.
  25. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Guys that have slipped: Taylor Teagarden (Catcher, but Borass) Jordan Danks, OF (high signability concerns, likely to go to college) Jacob Marceaux, RHP (HSer could have gone earlier, compared to Oswalt) Cody Satterwhite (RHP, HS, college commit) and Justin Bristow (HS SS)were also rated top 45 by BA. I doubt the Sox would grab Danks, but he's a freaking stud.
