  1. Happy Bday to one of the better sig and FS banner makers Knightini. Have a good one
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) I don't think he's a Bulls fan. This is a dream match-up for anybody who loves defense. I suggest for anyone who likes fast paced, free flowing offensive basketball to NOT and I repeat NOT watch this series. Nah, qwerty's a big time Bulls fan. He pretty much watches every game. I'll be rooting for the Spurs but I don't dislike the Pistons at all. I like the style game they play and I was rooting for them big time last year against the Lakers. As long as they aren't playing the Bulls I'm indifferent on them. Back in the early 90's and late 80's I hated the Pistons, but that rivalry isn't the same right now. First I want to see the Bulls make the playoffs again.
  3. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) Thanks. I haven't really followed the CWS before this year, mainly b/c none of "my" teams have been in it, so I'm guessing that the Super Regionals are single elimination. Super Regionals are a best of 3 situation.
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Elaborate please. What more can I say other than the fact its an extremely poor system that has horrific ball movement and pretty much encourages ball hogging. The system often times has a guy having to force up shots because you don't open up the passing lanes by spreading (I know the point of the triangle is to have more passing lanes open, but it doesn't work that way). The only times it has ever succeeded is with a team in LA (Kobe/Shaq) and the Bulls (MJ/Pipp) every other time it has failed miserably. There is a reason for that. The Lakers and Bulls overcame the ineptness of the triangle, plus both teams played good defense in their hayday (the Bulls much better than the Lakers, but come crunch time the Lakers knew how to play it, especially role players like Robert Horry and Rick Fox).
  5. Really negative sounding article from the tribune. I also want to state it would be a HUGE HUGE mistake if the Bulls cut Skiles free. They need to cave in. Skiles is so important to this team. He had the Bulls playing hard and playing right and they are going to continue to grow (although I could also see a minor blip in the radar this next season) and then of course the following season is the one where I expect the Bulls to compete for the finals (they'll have the money to make an impact signing). Here's the link to the article: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  6. Fullerton will be the home team against ASU
  7. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) Does anyone have a list of the match-ups for the Super Regionals? Tulane vs Rice USC vs Oregon State Mississippi vs Texas Clemson vs Baylor Georgia Tech vs Tennessee Florida State vs Florida Fullerton vs Arizona State Miami vs Nebraska Those are both sides of the bracket.
  8. Put it this way, if Troy goes past the Mariners and Royals there is a very good shot that he'll slide out of the top 10 simply because it doesn't appear any other teams are interested in shortstop. Of course if that article is true the Rocks are interested, but I had heard they wanted a pitcher and Carillo wasn't the name I was hearing. I had heard they were pretty interested in Pelfrey or Hochevar, although I don't know if they'll go that route (plus he's repd by Boras IIRC).
  9. Just a quick poll. Should we leave this thread here or move it to the main forum tomorrow?
  10. Wes Roemer was dynomite for the Titans going 8 innings (after pitching 72 hr's ago) while picking up the win and was also the regional mvp. USC held on to win 5-2 as well so the field is set. My Titans are slated to play Arizona State this weekend at the Super Regional. I'm assuming Fullerton will be the home team but that hasn't been announced.
  11. QUOTE(Cali @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Nope. I hate Orange County..... That and I had no money. I'll shoot ya a PM on Thursday about the beach thing. Still trying to figure it out.
  12. I really like Robinson and I think that pick would make a lot of sense.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) FS? FutureSox.com...its been down for about 10 days now and I had this popup on my computer and am now talking live with a person working on getting the site back online. It was the most random popup, but somehow I was on live tech support with them and didn't know it
  14. Badass...Bull on the mend and FS may be back on the same day (*crosses fingers*) Kick some ass Bull

Man Gload keeps raking. He needs to be here and Timo needs to be in Charlotte. Too bad its gonna be Willie in Charlotte Oh snap...just got in contact with someone in regards to FS. I don't nkow how the hell it happened but I'm pumped.
  16. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) I've been believing that also Jason that the Sox could take a chance on a 1st-2nd round talent that fell through in the 3rd. But then its a huge gamble, as we could end up without a 2nd and 3rd round pick if they decide not to sign. I would almost rather go after a great talent that falls way through the rounds and throw 800K at them like the Angels and Red Sox did with guys in last years draft while drafting a good talent that is signable in the early rounds. Ya, I really liked the Angels plan. It looks like they had an awesome draft, especially if Ardenhart gets healthy and pitches like he could (he was UNC bounc IIRC, so I'm sure that bummed you out). On a sidenote, as a UNC fan I'm guessing you've seen Devine pitch a few times (NCSU) and was gonna see if you thought he was worthy of going at 15? I know he's got a dynomite fastball and its a name that I haven't seen mentioned yet on the board (in terms of the Sox at least). Of course Its not like the Sox to pay over slot money and they are giving guys like Timo and Davis a million bucks a piece to lounger around and stink. Plus if Kenny is given the choice you know damn well he'd rather spend an extra 2 mill on improvements to the current club than the draft (I can't say I'd blame him and If I recall I remember interviews saying this type of stuff was non-related with the Sox and JR has always done a nice job with the draft and making sure money was available). It could also be a recoup from last year where they spent a hefty amount.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) I'd be in heaven if he went to the Sox. Guess what team has shown the most interest in him? Well, it's a tie... Cleveland and Minnesota. So is this your lovechild or something Or did you just donate sperm back in your college days
  18. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) I like his age, his size, and his left handed all around style. Might be someone we could pick up in the 3rd-4th round as we need some power injected into the system, especially at 1B. Ya, could be a definate fit for the Sox. Of course the Sox may grab a guy in the 3rd and 4th rounds that will be a tougher sign (ie a guy thats slid a bit due to signability). I think you may see them offering a 2nd or 3rd rounder higher than slot money this year (we shall see though). If he's there in the 5th I think they consider it. He seems quite raw but the tools are there.
  19. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) You don't need total superstars. That's a huge misconception. The Bulls would be perfect for the triangle if they have Eddy coming back. It'll create perfect space between everybody and allow for easy buckets for everyone. We have guys who could knock down the shots as well. I'm convinced some people don't know a thing about the triangle offense. God no, it would be awful. This team would be horrid in the triangle, horrid.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Yeah, Carrillo looks real impressive on the scouting tapes. Broadway shows a real nice breaking pitch in his videos. Townsend has a real, real good breaking ball in his, too -- decent fastball. Torra didn't look that great, but the highest he hit on the gun was like 90 -- so, I'm guessing it was just a bad day at the ballpark or something. That gun may be the type that is a little lower. There are two types of guns (I forget how they both work and I don't really remember much its been a long time and for all I know this isn't the case anymore) but one gun would always read higher than the other. Townsend velocity was a little lower than Torra's. Torra was more consistent, imo. Townsend did have a nice sharp slider, but aside from that really looked mediocre. Didn't look near as crisp as Carillo (who I actually think has uspide, more so than Townsend and I was big on Townsend earlier) and than there is Bogu who I flat out like a lot.
  21. A little more info on him is that he's the top rated Canadian player and is slotted by BA to go anywhere from the 2nd to 5th round. Of course Visa problems have been an issue in where the Canadian players end up being drafted. I remember reading therer were a few more visa's available this year due to a new temp program thats around. He's a power prospect and isn't going to be able to play anywhere but 1st (he should grow into an average 1st baseman). Personally I think Jeff Larish will be his competition. A collegiate 1st baseman who has tons of power already and is slated to go then too. However, Larish could go earlier to a team looking on the cheap cause Larish really doesn't have much leverage and in my opinion made a big mistake turning down 750K last year (I think the Dodgers drafted him, am not positive). Either way an intriguing looking kid. Also very young, born on Dec 16, 1987
  22. Here is MLB.com's scouting report on him: COMMENT: Tall, broad and strong. Huge, muscular thighs and forearms. Swings w/ an uppercut stroke w/ good strength and quickness in hands. Definite home run threat. Smooth play around the bag, w/ good hands and feet. Loves the game and plays w/ a kid's enthusiasm. He's a 6'3 1st baseman from Lakeshore Catholic High School
  23. Will do Kap
  24. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) I'm gonna be at work listening to the draft yipee. There won't be any research from me until 3 atleast . I might just have to start researching at work though, I don't think I can hold out that long. I love this being a bum. Since I finished up school (for the summer) I've been to work twice. I may go back in once more before starting up my internship on June 20th. Until than, Sox-Pads this weekend and than the following weekend in Chicago. WOOT I really forgot how great it was to do nothing (well I'm busy doing something...just not work).
