Joe Crede Piece
I'd freaking love Sean Burroughs, but I don't see the Pads doing that.

Notes: Harris' days numbered?
Let me put it this way. I knew Ozz was a stupid manager (moves wise) but this is just freaking ridiculous. If Timo were a horse, he'd of been sent to the glue factory by now.

White Sox looking to deal Thomas or Everett
If two to three weeks from now Frank is fine and is hitting the ball well than there is no doubt in my mind that I'd deal Everett. I think there are other holes on this team and I have upmoth faith in Ross Gload backing up the 1b position (with Konerko sliding to DH) if Thomas were to get hurt. Everett isn't playing all that grand (I think he's hurt, but who knows) and it doesn't make sense to pay him all that money on the bench when you could move him, maybe in a 3 team deal, to pick up a quality reliever and maybe free up a little more payroll to add a big bat at 3rd base or another "starting" position of need.

College Baseball Playoffs Thread
Didn't see one and there definately should be one Anyway regionals are over for quite a few teams, however my Titans pulled off two wins last night (Pedroza was huge in both games...game winning homer and catch in game 1 while hitting a big 3 run homer in the 2nd game). They will play Arizona today at 6 Pacific time to see who moves on. The winner will play Arizona State. GO TITANS Also if for some reason USC advances on I think if they get a game televised in the next regional you should try and watch Sophmore Ian Kennedy. The guy is absolutely sick. He'll be a top 5 pick in next years draft barring injury and has been getting comparisons to Prior.

What would you rather have?
5 bucks White Sox World Series >>>> 100,000

Scott Skiles
Right now...Skiles >>>> Jackson. Jackson isn't near the coach he once was and is frankly totally overrated. I'd rather pay Skiles 5-6 mill than Jackson 5-6 mill. Tell me one time Jackson took a mediocre team and made them good. Case closed. Not saying Jackson isn't a good coach, but he didn't do too good of a job with the Lakers and is totally overrated. He doesn't do much coaching, imo. He does a good job motivating guys and other things, but highly overrated in my opinion.

No MVP next year but
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Then I'm confused. Does the 2k series now own a monopoly of sorts of the MLBPA? How can something like that happen? I suppose I'm just finding it difficut to comprehend how EA could f*** up something this severely--allowing a monopoly to happen. EA sports bough an exclusive rights agreement with the NFL. So EA is the only group that can produce NFL games (with the players names, stadiums, etc). On the other side Sega (the ESPN/2k series) bought the exclusive rights to major league baseball (player names, stadiums, etc). So EA can make football games but not baseball games (at least not with the players names), however they can go with college. Sega can make college football games (not NFL) and major league baseball games. So odds are Sega will keep its football engine and concentrate on collegiate sports (trying to go against NCAA Football by EA) while EA is going to keep the MVP engine (likely) and create a college baseball game. On a random sidenote, EA purchased the ESPN name as well and ESPN will be implemented into all of their new games. Sega will no longer have the ESPN license.

Official Draft Talk Thread
Out of the realistic options, Carillo is the #1 guy I want right now. I rate him ahead of Townsend and barely ahead of Bogusevic. I think Bogu may have a little higher ceiling but at the same time he has a higher tendency to bust. I'm even warming to the idea of Jeff Clement. He really has improved quite a bit defensively and his swing is looking a lot better than it used to. Still, I just have doubts for whatever reason, but there is no doubt he has the physical ability. Of course if someone else slides that could change things, but I highly doubt any major names (not represented by Boras) will slide.

Soxtalk Mock Draft- 1st Round
QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) Let's say Zimmerman somehow falls to the Sox in the real draft. Do we take him? I think we'd have to seriously consider it. He'd probably rate as the best player still on the board. Hell yes, no doubt about it either.

LeoDaigle/ThomasCollaro
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 04:37 AM) Daigle is a little older and has bounced around a few organizations. I believe this is his 2nd or 3rd year at Single A so even though he's doing well, it's a fair assumption to say he is a non-prospect. As for Collaro, he will be 24 this year and has also had trouble advancing within the system. He has great power but strikes out a ton and rarely walks. Wilder is quite high on Collaro. I think he's one of those guys thats developing a little late but has as much power potential as anyone in the system . The big question with him is how much more they can cut down on his stroke. So far we have seen big things and a major improvement. He's always had power, the problem was he strikes out too much (still does, but he's making strides) and he wasn't capable for hitting for much of an average (thats improving as well).

White Sox want Jeff Clement
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 05:36 AM) Wade Townsend pretty much got screwed by Peter Angelos and that's all there is to it. No, it was nobodies fault. Townsend wanted to go back to school to finish up his degree during the negotiation process. He registered for classes and MLB came up with a retarded ruling that he was no longer eligible to sign with the Orioles and would have to re-enter the draft. It was one of the worse decisions I've ever seen MLB make.

Ozzie's Attitude
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Ozzie could win the Nobel Peace Prize and he'd still get flamed by some on here for every little thing he does. If you were Ozzie, would you have accepted Brantley's apology? I understand being mad, but at the same time you got to undertand its there job to critique things. And in this case Brantley was dead on. Brantley is usually an idiot, but not this time.

Ozzie's Attitude
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) Ozzie's decisions tonight notswithstanding, Brantley is an idiot. Keep in mind that the Cubune is trying to make Ozzie look bad. But for once Brantley was right to rip on Ozzie. Ozzie has managed awfully this entire week and there is no nice way of saying something like that.

Kevin Walk-er... HE GAWN!
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Before you can bring up the G-Load question you have to explain why Walker got the call before Banjeru. I saw a stat on the scoreboard that said his ERA is down to 1.05 now. Actually its up to 1.05. He was down to like .42 but he's had a few shaky outings since

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) So even though Harris' minor league numbers are very good and he was 3 for 9 with 1 HR and 3 RBI's with the Nationals, just because he was demoted so they could bring up Wil Cordero, Harris sucks? I refuse to believe anyone could be that stupid. Isn't that the Brendan Harris that was part of the 4 way deal between the Cubs, BoSox, Twins, and Expos. He was a pretty highly rated infield prospect (specifically 3b).

Community Mock Draft
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) MLB.com radio had a mock 1st round with beat writers and gurus for most of the teams. Go here to listen to picks 1-15. Here's their top 15: 1. DBacks: Upton 2. Royals: Gordon 3. Mariners: Tulowitzki 4. Nationals: Ryan Zimmerman, 3B, Virginia 5. Brewers: Maybin 6. Jays: Romero 7. Rockies: Luke Hochevar 8. DRays: Townsend 9. Mets: Hansen 10. Tigers: Pelfrey 11. Pirates: Andrew McCutchen, OF, HS (FL) 12. Reds: Jacoby Ellsbury, OF, Oregon St. 13. Orioles: Jay Bruce, OF, HS (TX) 14. Indians: Ryan Braun, 3B, Miami 15. Sox: Brian Bogusevic, LHP, Tulane I think everybody would be ecstatic if the top 14 went that way. I would love to have Bogusevic. I'd be so damn happy with Bogusevic. He just had a stellar outing during his conference finals (CUSA I think) and his stock is on the rise. Best collegiate lefty in the draft, imo (better than Romero).

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Konerko -- .223/.336/.462, 13HR Fields -- .213/.292/.320, 4 HR @ AA That seems like an upgrade... But you forget that Fields numbers will improve going from the pitchesr park in Bham to the hitters park in Chicago. No one should even mentions Fields name at this point as the future 3rd baseman. He isn't producing and until he starts producing he isn't an option and should be an aftersite, not a foresite.

*Official* Eric Chavez Speculation/Dream Thread
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) How much of Chavez's contract do you think the A's will eat. The more they are willing to take, the better the prospects. SB None, maybe the Sox could get them to take Vizcaino or something along those lines (but thats not much). The A's aren't going to eat the contract and to be honest they don't really have to. Now if you wanted to deal Dye back to them, sure, they'd probably accept that, but I don't think the Sox will.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) The Nats are still very well in it though. And also, its their first season. They are more than likely not going to have a fire sale, no matter how far out they are. You don't not acquire a guy because you have a 1st round draft pick in AA that plays the same position you'd be acquiring. Especially when that hitter has really struggled this entire season. I'd deal Fields, Tracey, and Sweeney for Chavez and if they wanted one more I'd do that. Of course it would probably be more like Fields, Sweeney, and Bmac or something alon those lines. That or they'd want Anderson. I'd rather deal Sweeney as opposed to Anderson, but I'd deal either. However they can't get Anderson and Bmac in the same package, imo. Bottomline, the Sox have a ton of prospects they could deal and definatley have the pieces to make this type of trade and than go from there. It would likely indicate that this is Paulies final season or at least one of Paulie/Thomas would be gone. This move makes a ton of sense, imo.

Trade Ideas
Hell that could even be too much for Rob. Rob's a solid player, who fills a definate need or two. At the same time he's playing over his head this year as opposed to previous years. However I think he's a pretty solid player. You gain more offensively as opposed to Crede but the question I have is whether he could handle 3rd base every day. If he couldn't I'd probably rather mortgage some chips and go after Huff or Chavez or someone along those lines. Either one of them are guys that could make this offense a whole lot better.
